[/li][li]Pichu is awful, and if anyone tells you they like playing Pichu then they either lose a lot, or play against idiots.[/quote] Well, thanks. Pichu is my second most used character (between Kirby and Link), and... I never lose. And I've finished the hardest difficulty of each mode with him, too. Pichu is easy to beat people with because he's so small and fast. You can easily avoid damage for the whole match, picking off your opponents while they're vulnerable. Though I never use his B attacks unless I'm in a pinch.

I guess it's just because I'm a Jigglypuff fan. I'm annoyed there's a character worse than mine to thrash people with! But then Shiek is my most used character, and I completely expect her to be ejected from the next lineup.

It just a part of me thinks no previous Smash Brother shoul be left out.I do want a lot more new characters, but all the old ones are also just as welcome. And if they take any old one out,you can be sure there will be a following that'll be really mad that that character is gone=P Although,Dr.Mario I wouldn't mind as much...maybe make him a costume like others have suggested, and I'm fine (he is still Mario after all=P,the other "clones" are actually different characters)

Link isn't a different character. And Pichu could be considered a different character, but they are pretty much the same.

Well... Mr. Game & Watch was hilarious when I first unlocked him, but he was pretty bad as a fighter. He was more of a gag character than anything else.

On the right hand side there. Oh, and it looks like Pit is doing the equivalent of an "up-B" attack here. Ew. I hope not. I'm pretty sure that's his Up A.

I really don't want them to keep characters just because they chose to use them before. The clones were actually created because with the space they had left during production they couldn't create any more completely new characters, but they could make derivative "clone" characters. It would be pointless to keep them for the sake of keeping them. Sure, if they suddenly find they can create 50 characters then they can keep them... but I doubt that's the case. Keeping some characters would mean that other, more worthy or interesting characters would be left out. Why is that? Keeping old characters takes a minimum of development time as opposed to designing new ones from the ground up. I would personally rather keep (and tweak) the six old clones than replace them with two new characters. And I certainly don't expect them to drop ANY characters with unique movesets like Sheik or G&W. Trashing a clone is one thing, but remember that the development team is made up of the old development team, the new members have been described as hardcore Smash fans, AND they're asking Japanese fans for ideas. NONE of these people are going to want to completely ditch a character with a unique moveset. Altering/Tweaking/Re-Balancing > Ditching. They may have said they don't want to be constrained by who was in the game in the past, but remember that the whole game is about fan service. They are going to want the biggest character list with the widest array of characters possible, and if anything, I think that is going to mean MORE clones. There are some big name, game-selling characters they could throw in as clones (Mew for Mewtwo, Tails for Sonic), and somehow I don't think they're going to pass those names up. The only character I would actually EXPECT to get cut is Roy, replaced by a newer FE character. He doesn't have much personality anyways. Second most likely would be the Doc.

Well,ok,yes Young Link is Link...but he's YOUNGER Link:P...not good enough?OK,they could easily give him other specials moves to make him different.Like I said they could do earlier.Like, maybe grappling hook?Magic/Megaton/Skull Hammer?

There are some big name, game-selling characters they could throw in as clones (Mew for Mewtwo, Tails for Sonic) If they're going to make a clone for Sonic (I hope not, personally), it's going to be Shadow, not Tails. Sonic and Tails's abilities are far too different for Tails to work as a Sonic clone.

Sakurai said that he wants to place new characters based on suitability and uniqueness, not popularity. Obviously you can't ignore the Marios and the Links of the world, which is why we saw Pit, Meta Knight, and Wario in the first place... BUT this doesn't mean the rest of the cast will be every Mario character under the sun just because they're familiar to people and popular. Where would Nintendo's whole retro movement be today if it were not for Popo and Nana? Or Game and Watch? How about the Metroid revival? And I'm sure Mother 3 got a little push from Smash Bros. too. Hell, if they decided to go "Okay, let's put in every character people ask for," and ended up actually making some of these lists you see floating around, they would definitely be alienating gamers and fans alike. Smash Bros. is great in that it gets Metroid fans in the same room as Pokemon fans, Zelda fans interested in Earthbound, Mario fans fondly recalling Kirby's Dreamland, or whatever other scenario you can concoct. It's meant to be a balanced blend of Nintendo history and talent, to bring the whole range of fans and gamers to the table. I know it certainly got me more interested in vintage Nintendo, and the more obscure franchises they've had over the years. And I think that's Sakurai's, and Nintendo's, goal. To celebrate Nintendo as a company, and a history. Of course there's still fanservice; why else would they have put Falco in Melee? But there's also the development of an original franchise to celebrate all other franchises, and that's that. If they put in too many Zelda characters, or started abusing 3rd party priviledges... it would just lose its purpose as a game. And I hope that Sakurai sticks to his guns on this one, because Smash Bros. means a lot to a lot of people. He said he wanted to change the atmosphere of the game, but hopefully not the spirit. So in another year, when we all boot up our Wiis (;D) and play as Wario or Snake or Mike Jones ( ) for the first time, it shouldn't be any different than how it's felt in the past, and it should educate us while it schools just like it always has. Amen

Sorry to change the subject, but does anyone here has the translation of the Main Theme lyrics? Or at least just the lyrics in Latin? I really want to know what the say, maybe it has some clues to the game.
