A new Iwata Ask's talking about FE:SD has appeared but wait, Iwata's not there! Who could he have got to temporarly replace him for this? Can you tell just by looking at the back of his head? Go over and find out!EDIT: I find this end part of the "Bonus Stage" portion of the interview interesting. Narihiro Still I should have told you sooner about the upcoming changes. Now Fire Emblem is in its 11th installment, and the character roster expands every time. Just among allies, an additional 50 or so characters keeps getting added. Also even among opposing forces, there’re now a lot of characters whose presence penetrates the game. Overall a huge number of characters have appeared up to this point in the series. Iwata's replacement At least 500 just among allies, simply giving all of them names has become a real task, right? Narihiro So we’re trying to make best use of the characters we’ve had up to now and from these we’re hoping to be able to produce a new game. IR How about Pikmin? Narihiro (laughs) That might be good!? IR I’m only kidding! (laughs) Narihiro is the same guy who wanted a Fire Emblem All Stars game from the previous FC conference call interview (on previous page).

Don't think I'm getting it. Reason being that of my own FE playing habit. I don't allow character deaths or non-recruitment. And you NEED to kill your own people to even access the gaiden chapters. And it's the 3rd game with Marfy in it that does not interest me. And all 8 other FEs got my attention. Again, not that it's bad or anything (tried FE3 on emulator, I did). People whine about Nintendo not putting out enough "hardcore" titles when things like this slip right under their noses. I guess we're supposed to believe that "hardcore" means Mario, Zelda, Metroid and nothing else. I don't know what "hardcore" might mean, but FE is truly one good example of a series following its own traditions and traits strictly. But the text and emotion look top notch per usual. So emotional that you have to kill one of your own units in easy. I tried playing the original once on an emulator but that didn't work out too great so I decided to get this for the DS. The original (along with FE2) doesn't even show you where your character can go and attack. And you can't see enemies' range (=Radiant Dawn's maniac/hard mode) I've got to say I don't like it as much as say Sacred Stones or any of the other Fire Emblems. It's a bit linear, theres not much freedom to what you can do. But it is a fairly lengthy game and the animation is very good. It's an FE1 remake. What else to expect? It's still a great game and worth a look. Gets alot of negative reviews though. Its got Marth dammit You need a female Marth to get good reviews.

The Gaiden chapters are for new players, YL. It's ignorable, you can't actually be serious in that being your reason, I ignore Gaiden chapters too.
You have to kill one of your own to proceed, so I kill the new character that you get right away, so I can keep the classic cast. Or you know, skip the prologue and do Hard Mode.
Loved the interview, Sakurai's a real FE fan now, I can tell. Mwahaha.

At Wondercon 09, NoA set up a FE:SD booth to promote the game. I would post pictures but I can't seem to paste this on to this site. Source.

>Dasher Misire I don't know.... just don't like games like this. I feel a little uneasy to play games that keep track on everything you do - like this thing and Smash Bros series. Aim for the perfect ending and you'll have less maps to play with. What a choice... But no. This is not exactly why I'm not getting the game. I simply prefer FEs with unbeatable armies like the ones in FE6/FE8/FE10 where you can put a single unit against an entire army and finish them off with ease. Wow. For some reasons I think those people I've actually talked to and those like the author you feature here are so different. I still don't understand why people say Radiant Dawn is hard - it's not hard. Not even for the Japanese version. If you are given an option to battle save and still say it's hard, I don't know what to say there. Even-numbered FEs can never be hard.* Never. And I gotta disagree with the author's comment on the graphics as well. The ones in GBA are so generic that they're among the worst of the series. FE9/FE10 got 3D, but the animations in FE10 aren't quite complete (like crossbow users suddenly change positioning because they don't have running animations); but for FE11, come on! The animation is never smoother. I guess the comments for the new FE is rather diversed, eh? Some like it a lot, while others (like me) don't seem to like it. Perhaps because this game is rather... new gameplay but lacks character personalities. This is what I've heard from most. It looks like NOA really wants to promote Shadow Dragon. The little booth modelled after a castle looks great. And you actually have a chance to take Falchion. I hope they do this for more major games. *Even-numbered FEs can't be hard at all. Let's see: FE2 - Villagers get infinite level-ups and will get all-40 stats if trained. You get at least one stat up per level. FE4 - You get to save every turn, very quick and convenient access to the arena (where you can't die) and a staff that revives the dead. FE6 - The first chapters can be hard, but once you have Lugh the game's difficulty will drop to zero. FE8 - Are there even any weak unit in the game? Once you get Lyon in the Creature Campaign you don't even have to worry about weapons. FE10 - You get 5~6 stats per level up. And you're almost guaranteed to max everything at Level 20. And Goddess Yune decides to love your army and give them boosts. How difficult can this game get?
