Okay, good, somebody asked me to elaborate. I was intending on doing so in the same post as the haiku but that didn't strike me as being nearly as clever. XD
I honestly prefer Melee over SSB for a variety of reasons--the expanded character roster and number of courses for one, but SSB couldn't really help that since it only had so much room on the N64 cart. Melee's crisp graphical style also had me entranced; while I can appreciate SSB of how it looked, I thought Melee's greater definition did the series more justice.
I also prefer how Melee controls over SSB; I like the timing aspect and charging up your attacks to make them more powerful, something the first game didn't focus so much on. It feels much tighter in Melee. I'm also in love with the musical score.
Um. That's it really. I don't try to make much more heads or tails of it than that. Falco really is the scale-tipper in this situation.

One thing that annoyed me in Melee is that the scaling of the stages is all outta wack. SSB's Sector Z > Melee's Corneria.

Melee has more moves, items, stages, etc. The more you have, the more fun and diverse will the battles be IMO. And the new movements didn't make the game more complex... They're still based on combinations of buttons (and not sequences of buttons).
Things I miss the most from N64 SSB are the Bumper item, the Board the Platforms mode, and the character entrances.
I wonder what would they add to a remake of N64 SSB (perhaps a NDS version)... Would they include a playable Pit or Marth, for example? Would some characters or levels be replaced in favor of characters or places from more recent games?

I think a remake of SSB 64 on the DS would be nice, with a single Ice Climber, Marth, and Pit playable. They could add a stage for each of them as well.

They could make a sequel on the DS you know. There is a DS fighting game with 100 characters.
I think if there is a DS SSB remake, it should have 2-3 characters that where in SSBM and/or SSBB, and 1-3 characters that haven't been in the SSB series before. Like for some handheld games. Like if Tom Nook doesn't make it into SSBB, he would be good for a DS version. Maybe even the Nintendog could be a character (and yes, it is possible).
For those who don't believe a Nintendog is a possible playable character:
B - Talk B > - Here boy! B ^ - Spin B v - Roll Over
A - Show Hand A, A - Shake Hand A, A, A - Shake Hand
Ta-da.

I don't know what people would think of that. I think Tom Nook has more moveset potential. Mind explaining exactly what those moves do? And where are the grabs, smashes and midair attacks?

To all of you "he can't get in because he's not a potential fighter" people, zoom in on this:
Has Falcon ever Falcon Punched anyone in an F-Zero game? Have we seen Peach use Toad as a shield in ANY Mario game at all? Have the Ice Climbers use the other abilities in their game?

B - Talk would make the Nintendog growl, and push it's head forward. B > - The Nintendog would bark and dash over to that direction B ^ - Spins around, trying to bite it's tail B v - Roll Over would have the Nintendog roll over, hitting left, then hitting right, and so forth (would be a continous move). A - Puts out it's hand A, A - Shakes it's hand A, A, A -Shakes it's hand some more Grab - Bite Dodge - Backflip The Nintendog would be a lightweight, weak, and fast character. It's alt. costumes would be different breads of dogs (Chihuahua, Dalmation, Shiba, Labrador, the cover dogs for Nintendogs). Plus, does anyone really think of a moveset with every single move? No.

I sincerely hope Sakurai thinks of every moveset with every single move.
And yes, a Nintendog would suck serious balls, as would Tom Nook.

Doesn't stop the fact they're both really stupid ideas that would not work and would actually make the game look more stupid if they were there.
Hell, Takamaru and Sukapon - a samurai and a fighting robot. I'm sure I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but why the hell WOULDN'T they be considered before 99% of all other character suggestions put forward around the world so far?

I'm thinking this is some starnge kult thing. One idiot grabs a lot of buddies and says they should lobby this character. NSider is the king of bad character segestion. Daysi, Capt. Syrup and Tom Nook are on the top of they're lame totem pole.

Captain Syrup is a pirate. Thus, Captain Syrup = wins. Not to mention all the different times you fight her in Wario Land 2 gives her a veritable armory of potential moves. SSBB could benefit from a pirate...just throw in Goemon, Sukapon and Flint and we can reinact the infamous "Cowboy vs. Ninja vs. Pirate vs. Robot" battle!
Actually, now I want Sukapon in the mix too. Seeing Fry's picture of him on DeviantArt makes me like him.

If they don't use Sukapon, Ray or Harry would do nicely.

I just don't tlike her as she is clearly a 20 on the obscured scale. There are some better characters, despite Brawl could use a pirate.
