WHOA!
That's the most humanoid-yet-still-looks-like-Wario Wario I've ever seen!
Though part of his original appeal was the fact that he looked inhuman. Wario is definitely nothing without his fatness.
PS: Remind me again which game Guybrush is from?

That's been my problem for so long. I'd pore over every piece of official art and try to create something as close as possible. Of course, it always appeared as a pale imitation.
When I set up my DeviantArt account I decided to browse around and I found a bunch of artists, usually ones who use vector art, whose were using completely their own style to do other characters. They didn't look like pale imitations, they looked like letters of love to the original designs. That's what I wanted. So I've been on a mad sketching frenzy, trying to inject characters with my own style.
So track down some funky artists you like the style of and get drawing!! I can't stress that enough. My room is FULL of paper with doodles, rough sketches, characters in a number of styles, and unfinished comic strips. All you can do is keep at it!

Didn't he cover that already once before? I'm sure he knows.
Namco X Capcom is a fine basis but also think of Smash Brothers of course. Pit was redesigned quite a bit and in my eyes, except for the shiny trophies in Melee, any 3D appearance of a character in a new, more awesome form is his or her current appearance. As goes for Pit and even Ice Climbers, etc. Not too much of redesigns so they're not even the same type (Namco X Capcom ruined Dig Dug in my eyes, I like him in his appearance in the Mr Driller games)
EDIT: Hector all buddy buddy with either Vector or ROB! Plz? I loved the old one so if that's still your style then yay...

Aw come on, I thought the NXC version of Taizo Hori kicked exorbitant amounts of ass!
My next request is....
Luigi!

It was alright, I consider those sorts an AU form of design, like Mario in SSB games as he never looks like that in other games (yet other characters do or assume to be). His pumpdrill was nicely done though.

To tell you the truth, I'd really like to see a Mario game where he and all the other characters look like they did in SSBM.

I didn't much like Bowser's look in SSBM... he was way too dark and hunched.

I thought that look made him look utterly badass. He's been demeaned as of recently. I want good ol' King of the Koopa to be restored to his former glory!

..."badass" isn't something I want Mario to be. If I really wanted to see a cutesy franchise attempt to be "badass", I'll just go play Shadow The Hedgehog.

Except it's possible to be badass without following a trend. There are many different types of badass, you know. Plus, I would't exactly regard Shadow as actually being badass. It tried to be badass, but it failed miserably.

Every time I've seen something described as badass, it generally means "like something out of an angsty teenager's fanfic". So forgive me for being skeptical about the phrase.

When I think "badass" I think of haemmoroids.

I guess everyone's definition of badass is different. Just like how everyone's definition of "Cool" is different. Mine is "the midpoint between cold and warm".

Because those games all suck You said be as original and creative as possible. I'm not sure about Yakuman and Vegas Stakes, but Zootto Mahjong has a story, heroes, and a villain. I think they would make a nice addition to the Nintendo All-Stars or at least deserve a little more consideration.
