Well, I've actually been practicing my drawing, so I thought I would post my very first fan art. Appropriately, it's my namesake, the real Nester. Comparing him to my avatar, I think I did OK. I put a little of my own spin on him, tho. Title: Nester (aka The Great One) Medium: Pencil on paper Artist: Yours truly

So we're finally able to see your artistic nature on paper. Looks good! He seems a little tall though compared to the real Nester, but I guess that's what you meant by your own spin.

^ Thanks for the complement!
I did have to work a little to get him to the height I wanted. But if you look at the old comics, Nester's physical size actually changed quite a bit over its course. It mostly depended on which artist was drawing him (there were several), but sometimes it changed because of the comic's style, or even for no reason whatsoever. That gave me a lot of freedom.

Yeah, it is quite a nice looking Nester.
Did you draw that on paper or a computer?

^ I drew it on the back of a piece of scratch paper. Then I scanned it in at a low resolution. Then I manipulated it a bit to get rid of some junk.

I posted this in the Smash Bros. fanart thread, but it inspired me to do another movie logo parody. I'll just put them both here to keep them together. I know it's sloppy, but I made it quickly, and I know it's the not real RoboCop font, but it's the closest I could find. It's just for fun.

It's been over a year since I've posted any real fan art, and that's because it's been as long since I've tried to draw any real fan art. In fact, it's almost been as long since I've tried to draw much of anything. But that's going to change. Here's a new sketch of Nester for the new year.

Thanks! I'm not so sure "talent" is the right word. Talent is something you have to be born with, and I don't feel that I was born with much as far as drawing is concerned. Every last mark on the picture above is the result of what little skill I've painstakingly tried to develop. But that's why I hope to post a lot more art. I want to practice, and I need the feedback and encouragement.

Yes sadly drawing takes practice and patience, both of which I have little time for these days.
I used to spend a lot of time when I was a kid drawing instead of playing with dolls and such like the other girls. But I still can't operate a paintbrush! ;D
I'll stick to the pen and paper

Patience is a problem for me. I get easily discouraged by my own drawing, and then I don't practice, so it's like a vicious circle.
I'm going to stick with simple things for now.

I fail to practice because I never manage my time properly, and people all over tell me I was born with natural drawing ability. One of these days I'll get that scanner...

You could always try this new program called Snapter, it allows you to scan documents with a digital camera, it has a 2 week free trail and then watermarks will just appear on the images or pay for the full version to get rid of the watermarks.

Wait there's a way to get around watermarks, find out where the water marks are in the pic, then scan so there is nothing at the watermark. Then take it out.
