What is that? A dolphin? Oh, right, I get it now - I got it as soon as I wrote the word "dolphin". Are there other sea creatures / animals / whatever? If not, then it might well be a reference. Can't you just goto Puzzle Polari and check it out yourself? To your question, yes, there're pther animals as well.

Can't you just goto Puzzle Polari and check it out yourself? Yeah, but that would require effort. If there are other animals then I doubt its a reference, since dolphins have a unique shape and whatever and would make a good puzzle regardless of the GCN codename. I think.

Indeed. I'm not up to much tomorrow, so I'll be hooking up the Gamecube for some super-fun screenshot stuff. Today I've been collecting sprites from NES games for a top secret project.

Hey everyone! I need to tell you something! I need to tell you...
....that that picture looks weird.

It's from the Super Mario Bros. NES instruction manual. I actually wrote out "Shh! Don't tell anyone" and it suddenly reminded me. So I fished around and got a picture to say it instead

Really? What didn't it want you to tell anyone about?
I thought it was a Koopa to begin with, but then I just figured it must have been a random image of a turtle. Shows what I know.

Right... I've done a load of Gamecube cameos today. Apart from the Dolphin screenshots in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, can anyone think of anything else missing?

I just got Nintendogs, and found a lot of cameos in it. Here's what I found so far:
Items:
Sports: Rubber Mushroom (original SMB style) ? Block (original SMB style)
Toys: Peach Kart-Peach in her kart from Mario Kart DS. You can use the control pad and A and B buttons to drive the kart and let your dog chase it. When you start driving familiar music plays, but I can't remember where it's from.
Accessories: Red Hat- Mario's hat.
Other cameos: In the Secondhand Shop, you can see a Bulborb doll from the Pikmin series on a shelf. You can't actually buy it, however.
Sometimes on walks you'll find people walking their dogs. One of these guys is named Shiggy. His dog's name is Pik.
I'll say if I find more.
Edit: I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but I have the Lab & Friends version. I'm not sure what differences there are between the 3 versions.

I might wait until there's a definitive list of cameo items. I know you can also get a remote controlled Mario in a kart, for instance. But there might well be loads more... who knows? Not long to wait to find out

Not long to wait to find out I've seen a screenshot of Bowser in a kart. I wonder if anyone here can get this game and prove it.

Yay I found a cameo! In Banjo-Tooie, the "military song" that plays while you talk to Jamjars is the SAME as the back-ground tune inside Funky Kong's Weopon cabin in Donkey Kong 64.

Intriguing. I'll check that out. I've been looking for an excuse to plug my N64 back in

I found a musical cameo though I'm not sure whether anybody would be able to hear it as well. Rather than link you guys directly, I'll just give you the sites to find the tunes at. The cameo, which I noticed when I first played Mario and Luigi, I'm not sure will actually be included in the Database, considering it's within franchise/series. But the music that plays when you fight Popple includes a small portion of the music when you fight Bowser in Mario Sunshine. www.Emuparadise.org has the Sunshine music, and www.zophar.net has links to the GBA sound file for Mario and Luigi.
