I actually liked Sonic Heroes, but Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic the Disaster, and even Sonic & the Secret Rings aren't as good. However, I love the Sonic Advance games, and will get Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure when I get a DS.

What most of the Early Sonic fans don't realize is that Sonic averages out to be a mediocre series even before 3D... I mean the only good Master System/Game Gear Sonic is Sonic Triple Trouble, Mean Bean Machine, Sonic Spinball, and Sonic 3D Blast for the Genesis were mediocre, Sonic R was mediocre, Sonic Shuffle was pure crap, Sonic the Fighters was great, but that was because it was made by Team Virtua Fighter, and Sonic CD was in line with the Awesome Genesis Sonic games... 1, 2, 3, & Knuckles. I haven't played Knuckles Chaotix, so I can't judge that.

Why does everyone always ignore the 2 Advenure games?

SA and SA2 were the greatest Sonic games ever made! They try to mimic it with all later 3D Sonic games...but they can't. They try and fail.

I agree that 1,2,3, & Knuckles were also good 2D games, and Rush was amazing.

When SEGA actually tries, they make a good game.

Sonic the Fighters is keyed towards two very specific audiences: Sonic fans and hardcore fighting game fans. I'm neither one. SSB and Powerstone are my Fighting Games of Choice, and they're both very unconventional so far as the genre goes...Sonic the Fighters is a much more traditional fighting game. In my opinion that kinda works against it, making the movements very limited and the gameplay uninteresting.

I haven't played Knuckles' Chaotix either, but from what I've heard through my pal Greliz, the game's weighed down by the fact that you're always chained to somebody--and most often, instead of a useful partner (Knuckles, Espio, Charmy, Vector or Mighty) you get stuck with Heavy or Bomb, who have no abilities, are slow as hell, can't jump, and always hit springs without you meaning to, causing you to bounce off your path and into completely different directions.

Yeeeah, I don't like Sonic the Fighters. The only fighting games I enjoy are Smash Bros. and Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble, and neither are traditional fighting games in any sense. From what I can tell, Sonic the Fighters is just an edited version of a Virtua Fighter game, anyway.

Since I like this kind of thing, I have decided to make a list of the most likly characters for this game:

Sonic
Tails
Knuckles
Amy
Jet
Wave
Storm
Shadow
Blaze
Silver
Eggman
Rouge
Cream
Metal Sonic
NiGHTS
other Sega character
other Sega character
NEW AND EXCITING

My reasons:
Sega says there will be 18 characters.
the first seven are obvious.
Eggman, Shadow, Rouge and Cream will most likley return.
Blaze and Silver are growing in popularity.
Metal Sonic just plain NEEDS to get in.
Wikipedia says NiGHTS is confirmed.
I dont think Aiai or Ulala will be returning.
I think there will be at least one new character.
They better not bring those two robots back!

I think the Chaotix team has a chance as well.

I think it's just pretty much going to be the original cast, but with Silver and Blaze added. And maybe the E-10000s will be replaced with new robots or something. If NiGHTS is there, I see no reason for AiAi and Ulala to have been removed.

I don't think either of them will be returning, as Space channel 5 isnt that poplular, and AiAi was a joke.

Space Channel 5 and Super Monkey Ball are both more popular than NiGHTS.

They're also both about a million times more popular than Billy Hatcher or Vectorman.

I didn't say Super Monkey Ball wasn't popular, but NiGHTS has a bigger fanbase than either of those. Seriously, people wern't all like "I WANT A MONKEY BALL SEQUEL!" or "WHY HASN"T THERE BEEN A SPACE CHANNEL 5 SEQUEL!"

NiGHTS is a cult classic! In fact.....

I WANTED A NiGHTS SEQUEL MORE THAN I WANT A KID ICARUS SEQUEL!!!!!!

Space Channel 5 is more popular than you think. It has three games, and cameos in many others (while NiGHTS cameos only appear in other Sonic Team games), and stars Michael Jackson.

And I'm curious... why do you think AiAi was just a joke? He was no more a "joke" than NiGHTS was.

Ah, never mind about the joke thing. I thought I read somwhere that Sonic Team officialy anounced he was a joke, but it wasnt true. Instead, all the fans thought Aiai was a joke, and Sonic team was flooded with e-mails asking if they were kidding.

But I still dont think Aiai or Ulala will make it. But a man's entitled to his own opinion.
