Ahaha, return of the Bumper!
Well, I guess people were asking for it. I wonder if now that they actually got what they wanted they'll realize it isn't really that amazing of an item.

Bravo!! A dream of many fans that came true. And I'm included.
That new use is weird. And with the example they give, it could easily KO a Yoshi from the stage.

It's a good idea though. It should work better than the one from Melee.

Neat. I wonder how you're supposed to set it in mid-air... you think you can just throw it and that it'll freeze after a certain distance?

Also, this could cause Sakurai to add the Super Mario 64 stage from the N64 version of SSB, because the stage has the Bumper above it.

Perhaps as a replacement to the Flipper item. But why? I shudder to think what conclusions could one make about this ;D

Crazy stuff, but how on Earth do you make it stick to floor AND air. How does it know? Will it stick to the floor if you throw it downwards? Wouldn't that pinball your character away? Well, I know a lot of people are very happy to see it return, but I can't think of a more boring update after yesterday! Still, nice to see SSB64 getting a mention

Perhaps as a replacement to the Flipper item. But why? I shudder to think what conclusions could one make about this ;D Well, the SSBB Bumper has almost the same functions as the Flipper. In SSBM, the Bumper was replaced by the Flipper for some reasons, perhaps Sakurai wanted Balloon Fighter in SSBB, but then decided to put in Popo and Nana (Ice Climbers) instead. In SSB64, the Bumper cannot stay in midair when thrown, while it is a bit more difficult to make the Flipper stay on the ground than the Bumper. Those are some reasons why I believe the Bumper will replace the Flipper. However, Sakurai might modify the Flipper's functions and add it to SSBB's item list along with the Bumper.

OMG! There are only three characters on screen. You must BECOME the bumper I just had an idea why there could be three characters on screen (as well as those Assist Trophy images) maybe the 4th person is the camera because the game has been set to camara mode. I know this would not be true in every shot (like ones with four players on screen) but it could be possible. Then again this is just pure spectulation.

I'd think that they'd use a Debug-Mode style like the one in Melee, Where P1 could pause and then have full control of the camera and even nudge the game forward a frame at a time. That would explain why the damage meters don't show up on screenshots. Perhaps their Screenshot team only consists of 3 people . @ Smashchu nicely done.

I think it's a mathematical equation that determines where a bumper stops when thrown. In SSBM, the flipper flew different distances depending on how hard you threw it. I imagine the Bumper does the same thing now; also, if you throw it soft enough, at enough of a slope, or from midair, you could make it stick to the ground without getting bumped yourself. That's how I imagine it working out, at least.
