Doesn't the Blue Falcon appear in SSBM's F-Zero stages? Granted, you don't actually see Captain Falcon inside it, but since it is his vehicle we can at least assume he's driving it. But who's driving it if Falcon's fighting? On another note, I am pleased to see DK's back (I knew he would be, but..). I just can't wait to see what his "Smash Move" will be. Oh, and I hope Diddy makes it in as well.

The SSB series is about characters duking out with each other. The focus is not on the stages, it is on the characters.
The stages compliment the characters, not the other way around. If that was the case, there would be no point in having Mr. Game & Watch in Melee because we had the Game & Watch stage that looked exactly like an actual Game & Watch handheld. That's how the whole series were about - seemingly endless mini-games on those handhelds.
In SSB64, Ness and C. Falcon had no Mother and F-Zero stages. In SSBM, Marth and Roy had no Fire Emblem stages.
Even though they had no stages from their own franchises, the focus was all on them, not their stages.
Why bother having an Animal Crossing stage if we aren't having an playable character from Animal Crossing?

You make a fatal flaw in your reasoning there. You'll notice that the stage IS focusing on the Animal Crossing characters. They all seem to appear in the background.
Your first mistake comes before that though. Where is it written that the focus is on the playable characters? Sure, so far all stages have been linked to characters. But in SSB64 all items were linked to characters too - then we got Lip's Stick and Flipper in Melee which were not. Who's to say the same couldn't happen with stages?
I'm not saying an Animal Crossing character is out of the question, but I AM saying that Smash is not about the characters. It's about everything Nintendo. And the more stuff Sakurai can cram into each game, I hope he is considering the potential for items, stages, etc. for series with no playable characters.

For all I know, Pit, Wario, and Meta Knight may be the starter newcomers and the only ones we'd see first off. The rest of the newcomers would most likely be hidden. Do you remember how there were only a few starter newcomers in Melee compared to the N64 veterans? I doubt that this site will show any hidden characters right off the bat. Maybe they'll do that after release.

I think Pit and Wario are starters, definitely. Meta Knight seems too awesome (and high tier) to be a starter right off the bat, so I think he'll be unlockable. Zamus is DEFINITELY unlockable if she's not a transformation, and Sakurai already said that Snake would be a character.
As for showing hidden characters off the bat... I'm pretty sure a Melee trailer showed Luigi and/or Jigglypuff : P

Meta-Knight and ZSS Samus I beleive are starters. Also, I think the course allows for a possible new AC character, but like Fry said, It's possible to just be a course without a character
Oh, and BooDestroyer, Melee had 5 new starters. This one only has 4 so far. Theirs room for more.
EDIT:Oh and I'm back. And I'm met with a SSBB board. Nice.

Could someone create a thread about the next update when it comes up, please? I'm about to hit the sack early, because I got to work on some things in real life, like taking care of one of my grandmothers, and doing some business with my father.
