Some "Million Seller" games on the SNES and GB weren't technically million sellers either. Some of them were simply old million seller games from the NES revamped for the system.
Tetris & Dr. Mario on the SNES, for example, seems to be a million seller by default - no earlier release. And I find it hard to believe Bugs Bunnies Crazy Castle sold a million copies on GB.

Interesting. I don't even remember Bugs Bunny being on the Player's Choice label. A lot of original Game Boy games did get re-released, but they didn't have the PC packaging.

Changing the topic slightly: I may have spotted another clue to the identity of the "grassy floating island" stage! Upon watching it big screen (free DVD with a games mag) I noticed that when the camera pulls away from Snake-in-box, you see a glimpse of a round patio-thing to one side of his box. It could have been my imagination, but I think I spotted a pattern/logo on it!! Need to check this again! Back to this liitle matter: I've checked again, and there is some sort of symbol there (I also found that earlier parts of the trailer showed it side-on in the exact centre of the stage). Unfortunately, I don't recognise the symbol from anywhere. Its like stylised bat-wings, with a semicircle above it. All you guys better check for yourselves and tell me if its important or not.

I think he means this bat-wing logo. I've also had it pointed out that the purple orb under the stage is also on the Battlefield stage in SSBM.

I'd say Kirby is more popular than StarFox. The pink puffball really belongs in the second group alongside Donkey Kong. Other than that, I largely agree with your list, but I still don't agree about Krystal. Remember, I'm looking at this from a wider picture. Sure... StarFox fans might really want Krystal in there, but everyone else doesn't give a damn. I wish she'd never been invented. There, I said it ;D Back in the day Kirby was a no body. At that time he would have been a low on the list. It does seem strange how, all of a sudden, he has gooten more games then Donkey Kong(or atleast close). There seems to be a Kirby game every year. It proves Nintendo and there second parties are skilled as everyone recives high reveiws. Also forgot Animel Crossing. I think it would be High and maybe Top for Japan. As for Krystal, its cause your European. Im not sure how Krystal fares on the other side of the Atlantic, but here they seem to love Krystal(henti fetish, I dont know). Female characters, atleast ones that are attractive, seems to fare well here. Lyn is also preety high on the want list as well. I think the fact G4 had "Videogame Vixens"(whos the hottest fake chick awards) sums it up nicely. I like Krystal since it does add a Female character. I mean 4 men and a robot on a ship together. People might think there gay. Anyway those wings look like the bat symbol. Also did we ever find out who's flags those where in the Fire Emblem castle?

I don't think they should add another Star Fox Character in Brawl, but if they were to add another, I'd say Krystal would be the best choice. She was playable in SFAd, she's Fox's girlfriend, and she's pretty popular. Next I would say add Slippy, then Wolf, and then possibly Andross.

Nintendo's most popular franchises (for those interested...) Source: www.vgcharts.org/worldtotals.phpMario (over a quarter billion shipments... 260,000,000 actually... In other words, higher than high-end estimates for U2, Prince or Pink Floyd... And the search missed multi-million sellers fronted by Yoshi and Luigi) Pokemon (132 million) Donkey Kong (~48 million... Yes, its outsold Zelda... Rare circa 1994-1999 = unstoppable gaming powerhouse) Zelda (~45 million) Tetris (40 million... So they stole it! They still published it...) Duck Hunt (28 million... From one game... maybe not a franchise, but jeez...) Kirby (~21 million) Wario (~15 million) Smash Bros. (~ 12 million) Metroid (~ 11 million) Starfox (< 10 million...) Fire Emblem (supposedly so huge in Japan... but no title has crossed into 7 digits, at least by reported shipment numbers...) Animal Crossing Excitebike (5 million maybe?) Anything else you want, find it yourself... Pretty good list of million sellers, though somewhat imcomplete in certain areas... The handful of PC games on there were added semi-recently... Counting all Mario/Donkey Kong/Yoshi/Wario games together, as they sort-of are, total shipments would be WELL over 300 million. Screw me sideways.

That list, of course, doesn't take into account the popularity of individual games, or the sheer volume of games in that series.
So I guess Duck Hunt is more popular than Mario!

I don't know you, but watching the Pokemon and DK series selling better than Zelda is priceless!

That list, of course, doesn't take into account the popularity of individual games, or the sheer volume of games in that series. Fair enough, but I think its better than everyone's guesses. Super Mario Bros. has outsold Duck Hunt, so I'm not sure what you meant by that other comment. I do think those numbers show that DK should get more representation, and that people should stop complaining about more Pokemon, and that Starfox is adequetely represented though. Of course a lot more than popularity should play into selections, but it shouldn't be overlooked either.

2 things. 1)Tetris doesn't count. 2)Why is it <10mil. Is there no number for this. Technically this could be 1, or 0.

Super Mario Bros. has outsold Duck Hunt, so I'm not sure what you meant by that other comment. Yes it did, but we're talking about the popularity of a series. The Mario series as a whole has sold nearly ten times that of Duck Hunt - but there's like 80 games in the Mario series. Duck Hunt has just one notable game (as I'm sure the arcade and light gun toy versions aren't counted in this total). Divide the (approx) number of Mario games against its sales and you get an average of 3,250,000 each. Now divide Duck Hunt's 28,000,000 by 1. Oh look! Duck Hunt has higher average sales per game. Therefore, Duck Hunt must be more popular than Mario! Of course SMB and SMB3 did sell more than Duck Hunt... but that just means that other Mario games didn't sell as well. Duck Hunt is therefore more popular than most Mario games, and the series as a whole has higher average sales than the entire Mario series. Fascinating!

By that reasoning, current hip-hop/soul group Gnarls Barkley are more popular than Elvis Presley. They released one single that went to #1 in the UK and #2 in the US. Elvis had 107 top 40 hits, but only 38 hit the top 10 and only 17 went to #1. Thats a horrible average compared to Gnarls.

Hold up. Wasn't Duck Hunt bundled with Super Mario Bros. SMB is the best selling game of all time. Wouldn't you say that helped it reach the 28mil mark?
