Yep, and the icing on the cake will be if Pocchama follows through with its supposed translated name of 'Rookie Fighting Bird' and becomes a big, fighting emperor penguin. That would be awesome, and would definately justify me starting with him (I always pick the Water starter, but never has a freaking Monkey with a fire butt been there to tempt me). And Elekible pwnz Elctabuzz in every single way. Look at the damn thing! I said that when I first saw the starters. How the hell am I supposed to choose between a penguin and a monkey!? That's like asking me to choose between videogames and TV!! And after the sucky-looking starters in Ruby/Sapphire, it's cruel that they drop two on us at once! Cruel I tells ya. And yes, Elekibble looks brilliant.

It is a tough desision. I couse the Monkey since there are more water pokemon out there. Also if this is like R/S/E then there might not be eenough fire pokemon.

Pocchama better not become Water/Ice or Water/Flying - we've had both a few times already, plus I'm not a huge fan of losing the fire resitance / having a 4x electric weakness. While it is true that both do provide resistance against Grass, I'd much rather just give my water type Ice Beam anyway.
And looking at the map, there's not a hell of alot of water by the looks of it, so hopefully the number of water pokes goes down (and in turn fire pokes go up - RSE was terrible in that regard).

They've all had an overabundance of water Pokemon to choose from so far... there are... wait... maybe we should create a new thread for this.

Because of another thread on this forum, I nominate Takamaru. I wish I knew more about him.

But in real life there are more... let's start a new thread. Anyhoo... I read this thread at Smashboards, that suggests Paper Mario. It's pretty interesting. It justifies PM being just another Mario by by saying he is the least like Mario out of all of them.

I've thought Paper Mario was a good idea for a while. Either that or some sort of paper transformation item.

XD
Haha that's funny.
If you ment it as a joke. If not, Missingno is a glitch not a Pokemon, so no.

Does Mission No. Even have an actual form?

Missingno (if I remember correctly) looks like an unidentified ghost (you know - before you get the Silph Scope), and looks like a substitute when transferred to Pokemon Stadium. Also M (a different form of missingno) has a fairly distinct L shape in the GB games (don't know what he looks like in Stadium).
So, yes, kinda.

Pulling this topic demi-on track...
I'd love it if the whole previous roster returned, but that means only fourteen new characters (five of which we've already seen). So, while it pains me to say it, the most likely to go are Pichu, Doctor Mario and Mewtwo (even though I love Mewtwo, he's my second best of the entire lot). Those three are in a similar boat to Jigglypuff during the transitional phase between SSB and SSBM, except their following isn't nearly as large. But really, they could alter the main roster as much as they wanted as long as they keep Falco in and I wouldn't care. Falco's the only character I really want them to retain.
Here's what I see happening, based on Sakurai's Toukouken. Please note, this is purely speculation on my part, with a little bit of hopes and dreams mixed in...
Super Mario Bros.: Mario Luigi Peach Bowser Toad Geno (Guest Star #2)
Legend of Zelda: Link (TP) Zelda (Current form unknown) Ganondorf (Current form unkown, likely OoT) Young Link (Current form unknown) Vaati (Minish form)
Star Fox: Fox McCloud (Command design) Falco Lombardi (Command design) Krystal (Command design, armed with Adventures staff) Wolf O'Donnell (Command design)
Metroid: Samus Aran/Zero Suit Samus Ridley
Kirby: Kirby Meta Knight King Dedede
Pokémon: Pikachu Jigglypuff Blaziken Gardevoir
Donkey Kong: Donkey Kong Diddy Kong King K. Rool
F-Zero: Captain Falcon Samurai Goroh
Yoshi: Yoshi Kamek
Wario: Wario Captain Syrup Mona
Fire Emblem: Marth Roy some..evil dude, I dunno. I don't play this series.
Earthbound: Ness Flint
Other: Ice Climbers Mr. Game & Watch Pit Solid Snake (Guest Star #1) Rockman/Megaman (Classic version, Guest Star #3) Sonic the Hedgehog (sigh...Guest Star #4)
Okay, so that's 45 guys, not bad. Almost on the mark, and 40's not the final number anyway. Anyway, I don't think they should really renovate the main cast too much; I certainly have a handful of changes I'd like to see them make, but I wouldn't mind (for the most part) if they weren't.
Most importantly, I want to see Ganondorf given his own moveset. I wanted SO badly to use that kickass sword of his in Melee; I feel shorted knowing he's just a very slow Captain Falcon clone. Aside from the fact that all his magical attacks are colored black and purple like in OoT and WW (whenever a monster vanishes), nothing he actually does relates to his moves in the Zelda series (kind of like the opposite of Peach, who's just a friggin' nostalgia trip).
Peach ought to remain mostly the same. Maybe give her a little more edge so she can stay in a fight better (as Fry said, she's very easily knocked away), but the only change I'd like to be made on her is replacing her Toad Spore with a Toadsworth Spore, as Toadsworth dotes over her more than the Toads do nowadays (and assuming that Toad becomes his own character).
Roy and Falco can remain the same--I have no problem with them being clones. Maybe give them one or two unique, non-Super attacks to differentiate them from Marth and Fox.
Krystal could be kind of a foil to all those people crying about too many swordsmen in the game--while Star Fox Adventures wasn't exactly a shining moment in the history of the series and video gaming in general, the staff could be implemented to make her a unique fighter. Also, there needs to be more girls that aren't Daisy and more characters with sexy British accents.
Wolf I see being a speedy character (like in Assault multiplayer), except armed heavily with slow weapons. He could possibly trade Falco for his Falco Phantasm move (another characteristic of Wolf's in SFAs' multi) and allow Falco's side-special to be something different from Fox.
Samurai Goroh would be a weighty character who, guess what, uses swords. Not a sword--plural. Swords. As proven in F-Zero GX, he carries a pair of katanas with him wherever he goes, a trait that is mostly unique save the fact that Pit can split his bow into dual broadswords on command.
And that's all I have the energy to type out for the time being. Might come back later for more if I get a second wind.

Would they use the newest Star Fox models even though the ones in Assault look better? But I think you mean their costumes (to match the most recent events in the continuity).
I saw when Gardevoir was mentioned in that list of Sakurai, and I was shocked. Seriously, fans either forgot about taking Pocketto Monstah seriously or he just looked at Pokémon that can fight like humans between those suggestions. I trust Sakurai's team anyway.

You're right--I meant more the costumes than the actual style they're done in, that would be very awkward XD So far only Mr. Game & Watch has been done in a style completely different from the other Smashers, so it'd be interesting to see how something like Wind Waker Link would work out--not saying that they'll use his model rather than the OoT/MM Young Link's, mind. The only reasons I mentioned Gardevoir are because it has an immense backing by fans of the series and, should Mewtwo be cast out, Gardevoir makes sense as a logical replacement. That, and I personally think Gardevoir kicks ass and I can't stand Deoxys XD
