They should just have all the 3rd party characters come from Konami: Goemon, Simon Belmont, Pentarou, Twinbee... man that would be rad. Too bad I'm pretty much alone on this one.
So instead I voted for Megaman cause I like him better then Simon. Also Kirby with Megaman's helm = instant win.

I believe it was Samaine, my buddy GameGuru, who said there was a rumor on Gamefaqs that claimed not only did Miyamoto-san confirm they spoke with Sega, but Namco, Squeenix, and one other company were discussed.
My guess, obviously not assuming the rumor's true, is that Geno is basically a shoe-in. Why do I say this? He's well up there in the polls, and most, if not all, the Gamefaqs and NSiders topics mention the bugger. The requests for him in the Toukoken were incredibly in-depth as well. If anyone has access to those, look them up. Those people who asked for Geno knew their shit. And besides, he's still a Mario character. So you could get away with another third party character after him, as he doesn't technically "count."
If anything, Geno would make a phenomenal Assist.

No, I only mentioned Square Enix, Namco Bandai, and Sega... I commented a bit on that there was a possibility that, if Namco Bandai were in the game, we could get a character from the Bandai side of Namco Bandai, namely the mascot of Digimon, Agumon. I also mentioned Dragon Quest in my talk of Square Enix. If I really wanted to be picky, I'd also point out Hudson was owned by Konami, and Taito was owned by Square Enix.
Personally, I don't believe a damn thing on GameFAQs' Message Board without links to more credible websites.
