I think they had a few issues with Japan only characters when exporting the last game. I seem to remember there were problems with the rights to Fire Emblem for some reason. Maybe he wants to avoid such things and go for ones that are safe worldwide. I kinda hope he doesn't... Takamaru and Sukapon  |

This is great, because I really really am excited to play as Ike now (I had no interest in that Cube FE game, either!). He seems to be more heavy and slow than Marth. Like... his sword takes two hands to swing, probably takes giant, slow swings with high knockback. Marth was literally a sworddancer, very nimble and graceful. Ike will be more of a lumberer, I'm sure. And will that Aether skill let him heal in Brawl too? That's... crazy! Well, so much for Falcon, Peach, Meta Knight, etc. etc. etc.  ...and so much for Takamaru... *peeved* EDIT: That one-handed with a two-handed sword refers to his screens where he's holding it over his shoulder with one arm. The sword clearly would have to take two hands, I think, to wield. |

He said he wanted to avoid JPN-only characters, but he never said he wanted to alienate Japanese fans completely. I'm sure he'll at least give a little bit of leeway.

I'm not too surprised that Ike made it into Brawl. His style and attitude from Path of Radiance (and yes, he's in Goddess of Dawn, too, to back up Masa) is a stark contrast to Marth's, so I'm pretty excited about his addition. He's not a prince or royalty like in most FE games, but a mercenary, so he will likely be more rugged in his moves than Marth. Cool. ^_^

Avoiding Japan-only characters won't alienate Japanese fans. All these characters still originated in Japan, y'know.
Alienating Japanese fans would be avoiding any characters who appeared at all in Japan. But then I think he'd have a very hard time finding characters to include.

It looks as if he uses his sword different to Marth... do you think this means Marth might also return? I'm hoping so! Although they would look very similar to each other I want Marth to return, even outside of Smash bros he's a brilliant character, but Sakurai also wanted Sigurd in so I'm wondering if Marth will be axed. A shame, as Marth's also my fighter of choice for Melee. |

WRONG. Marth never belonged in the "Swordfigher" class. He's a lordie! Maybe he means "swordfighter" strictly in terms of SSB (Link, Young Link, Marth, Roy, Meta Knight, Pit...you get the idea), not Fire Emblem (which has some of its classes all mixed up). On a different note, people have always been a little concerned about there being two many swordfighting characters in Brawl, but I honestly don't think it makes a difference. The sword is just a part of the character you're playing as, really. Although at this rate, if Krystal is in Brawl Ike is proper wizzleed. Staves beat swords if I remember right, according to the FE mithos :D |

Hey, everyone. I apologize for not posting the thread about this, because I couldn't stay up any longer than 5:00 AM, because I was afraid that my parents might hear or notice me staying up late. They want me to stop night-shifting.
Now my opinion about this update is that I didn't expect to see Ike from the first 3D Fire Emblem to enter......perhaps before Marth. I heard someone say that the flag in Path of Radiance looks very similar to the one in SSBB's castle stage, but some other people didn't believe it, because they thought the flag in the castle stage resembles the final boss of the first Fire Emblem, Medeus, which they thought it would be Marth's stage, plus they thought Marth would be another returning character. These spoilers are kind of creepy, because there are some characters I'm hoping for and some characters I'm not hoping for. I'm pretty sure Marth will return, because Ike is the Lord of the newest Fire Emblem released.

We forgive you--you've been pulling Update Duty ever since the site relaunched back in May XD Maybe for the sake of your sleep and so your parents don't chew you out, you should pass the torch onto another member who either lives in a more appropriate timezone, or could likewise stay up late enough to check the site as soon as it updates?

Nice to see Ike enter the fray. I'm hoping Marth returns as he was really fun to play as. I don't think this rules out Marth, expecially if that Castle is indeed his course, but I guess we'll have to wait.

As soon as SSBB is released, I would like for y'all to give out codes on how to unlock characters, without mentioning the secret character's name. For some examples:
CHARACTER 1: Beat Classic Mode with any character.
CHARACTER 2: Beat Classic Mode with CHARACTER 1.
CHARACTER 3: Beat EVENT MATCH 32.
What I mean about EVENT MATCH 32, is that I mean what if it mentions a secret character's name or what if it said something like "The Triforce Gathering", meaning that Ganondorf is unlockable.
This week's next two updates will either be:
|A.| Marth + other
|B.| The castle stage + other
|C.| Marth + the castle stage
OR
|D.| Two others
What I mean about "other" is that it could be something else.
