That was good, but I disagree with...... Young Link and Ganondorf (and maaaaaaaaaybe Falco, but I'm guessing not) return out of the clones, with Young Link in Wind Waker style.
Flip WWLink with Falco. Come on people, he's not likely at all. He was a joke until that rumor came out. Lucario, because I think we are maxed on the pokemon Pacman as character. I think mega Man will be the last one, and not Pac-Man for pete sake.
Also...
What quote do yuo speak of?
Otherwise, it's good. That's just my beef.

Okay, two things:
1. Red/Trainer was on the Melee poll, alongside Meta Knight, Wario, etc. He made it in to Brawl with all those guys, so it works. The only two characters from that poll who aren't in Brawl in any form whatsoever are Dedede and Sukapon, who reappear on the Brawl polls. All I'm sayin.
2. WW Link appears as a trophy in the trophy update. That is enough for me to deconfirm him, definitely.

Err... no he didn't. Wind Waker Tingle appeared as a trophy. Wind Waker Link hasn't been shown in any update on the site so far.

Exactly Fry.
I believe Wind Waker Link has as good a chance as any of getting into Brawl.

Okay, it's been a while since I've re-analyzed my character lists, so I'm going to delve into that a little bit. Italics mean that the characters have already been confirmed.
Mario Franchise: 1// Mario 2// Bowser 3// Peach 4// Luigi
Zelda Franchise: 5// Link 6// Zelda 7// Ganondorf 8// Young Link
Pokémon Franchise: 9// Pikachu 10// Pokémon Trainer 11// Jigglypuff 12// Mewtwo
Kirby Series: 13// Kirby 14// Meta Knight 15// King Dedede
Metroid Series: 16// Samus/ZSS
Star Fox Series: 17// Fox 18// Falco 19// Krystal
F-Zero Series: 20// Captain Falcon 21// Black Shadow
Earthbound/MOTHER Series: 22// Lucas 23// Ness
Donkey Kong Series: 24// Donkey Kong 25// Diddy Kong
Ice Climber Series: 26// Ice Climbers
WarioWare Series: 27// Wario
Kid Icarus Series: 28// Pit
Fire Emblem Series: 29// Ike 30// Marth
Game & Watch Series: 31// Mr. Game & Watch
3rd Party: 32// Snake 33// Sonic 34// Megaman 35// Bomberman 36// Pac-Man
My feeling now has changed; a lot of obscure characters we thought would be great for the game have been written out as assist trophies. Little Mac and Jill are the most prominent, and unfortunately that only makes me think that the ones I really want--Sukapon and Takamaru--don't stand much chance either. As such, I've focused entirely on returning characters and likely newcomers.
The Mario series loses Dr. Mario and doesn't gain a newcomer, largely due to the fact that nobody is quite as important as the four already represented, in addition to Yoshi, DK and Wario (whom all head up their own franchises). If there were to be a fifth, I'd guess Bowser Jr., but honestly he doesn't seem appropriate for Brawl. Maybe in a later SSB game.
Zelda series retains all previous characters. Ganondorf, now appearing as he does in Twilight Princess, has a unique moveset that utilizes a combination of swordfighting and dark magic. Young Link also has his own moveset now and appears as he does in the Wind Waker/Four Swords continuities, utilizing entirely different equipment and fighting styles from regular Link.
Pokémon only loses Pichu, in exchange for the Pokémon Trainer. As the first generation of Pokémon is the most recognizable, there are no representatives from any later generations--all potential Pokémon from Gens 2 thru 4 are relegated to PokéBalls. Mewtwo's moves are improved to make him a more balanced fighter, while Jigglypuff remains largely unchanged. (Jigglypuff's final smash, by the way, will be Hyper Voice. I'm calling this now.)
Without any other significant characters to draw from, the Kirby series only utilizes King Dedede as a newcomer. Dedede is a light-heavyweight who can use his hammer and his suction ability as weapons.
The Metroid series is S.O.L. Ridley's probably going to be a boss, and there are no other characters relevant to the franchise that would be suitable for playability.
Falco will return due to his popularity as a character; he'll be given a different moveset from Fox's, but it will still be for the most part improvised. His special attacks may draw more from his nature as Star Fox's ace pilot. Krystal will also appear, even if I don't want her--she's got enough demand to make the cut, and unlike Fox and Falco, can have a moveset made up for her based on what we've seen from her staff in Star Fox Adventures.
The F-Zero Franchise gets additional representation with Black Shadow, who is both combat-ready and significant to the game series. Since Samurai Goroh was passed up as an Assist Trophy, though...eh. If I don't put Shadesy down now I'll jinx myself.
Ness gets cut from the games for looking too similar to Lucas. comes back because he's a good egg.
DK and Diddy are all that's really needed to represent the Donkey Kong franchise; Dixie is not important enough, and I just don't like K. Rool.
Marth returns as a hidden character due to his drastically different fighting style from Ike, while Roy gets cut due to Ike basically being Roy if Roy had his own moveset in Melee.
WarioWare, despite having a vast collection of characters to choose from that could be combat-ready, only has Wario this time around. Mona would come close, but would have to wait until the next SSB game and will for now be relegated to AT status. Kid Icarus and Ice Climber series are both likewise fine as they stand.
Mr. Game & Watch may or may not return, but the fact that his symbol slot is left blank leads me to believe he will be back. In fact, losing any Melee newcomer with an original fighting style seems kind of silly at this point.
And maybe I'm being greedy, but we get five 3rd Party characters; Snake and Sonic are already confirmed. The three most popular/logical ones to come after them are Megaman, Bomberman and Pac-Man in that order, and it would be cool to see all three make the cut.

I see no Midna in the latter lists (go play the game!).
Also, I still don't get why Falco isn't likely to come back (I've not played the last 3 Star Fox games, though). If Ice Climbers could return, then I won't be surprised by seeing Jigglypuff or Falco returning.

Midna (and Tetra, actually) I can see being an Assist Trophy. She was important in Twilight Princess, but the chance of her appearing in another Zelda game is pretty slim. As much as I like her, I think she's just not cut out for playable status. Besides, would she appear in her imp form or in her natural Twili form?
As for Falco, it's mostly paranoia in my case. Falco's been one of the most popular characters in the Star Fox franchise due to the fact that he always got into less trouble than Peppy or Slippy in SF and SF64 (and his snarky attitude contributed, too); he was overall less of a pain in the ass than the others. But in Adventure, you don't see him until the middle of the final boss fight, and in Assault you actually need to save him almost as many times as you need to save Slippy, while Krystal manages to steer clear of most trouble.
Krystal also has the benefit of being "a hideous Furry". She was introduced as sex appeal and the furry community gobbled her up; now she has an enormous backing of fans there, and other people who may not prefer fur over skin but still find sexual appeal in her, essentially making her hollow and undesirable to people like myself and others here. Her support in the furry community is more than enough to rival Falco's support amongst people who like Star Fox on its own right, so she definitely has the demand to get in.
In Star Fox Command, though, importance is placed on all five main characters (Fox, Falco, Slippy, Peppy and Krystal) at one point or another; both Falco and Krystal get their own storylines and have endings focused around them (Krystal's are almost always hilariously emo).
So the issue is, really, does the Star Fox franchise have enough backing to warrant three characters? Especially since Falco was a clone character in Melee, and a new moveset would need to be drawn up from scratch as he never leaves his Arwing when he can help it. I mean, he could become a weapons whore, using the equipment you can use in SF Assault's multiplayer, but still...there's enough on the line for me to worry.

Oh Tei. You love your Falco don't you?
IMO though, Falco shouldn't return (don't hurt me!).
I believe that Wolf would be better due to the fact that he is heavyweight which makes him different from Fox. Also, he would have guns that could also be used to pummel the opponent, due to his strength. That would be pretty cool and something that hasn't already been done (Imagine getting pistol-whipped in Smash Bros.).

Screw Falco, Krystal, and Wolf. Peppy hasn't gotten any real love for a while. No one seems to get how badass a old veteran fighter is. Peppy needs <3.
EDIT: Sorry for stealing your Style Tei. It had to be done.

Midna (and Tetra, actually) I can see being an Assist Trophy. She was important in Twilight Princess, but the chance of her appearing in another Zelda game is pretty slim. As much as I like her, I think she's just not cut out for playable status. "Same as Sheik" (come on, the answer even feels overused). Besides, would she appear in her imp form or in her natural Twili form? Her natural form as an unlockable character, with imp form as her normal Trophy.

I don't know what people see in Wolf. He's basically a palette swap of Fox. Only difference is he has some goofy spiked shoulder suit and wears some DBZ like scouter thing. Since the Brawl version of Fox now also has some scouter thing on his head it's just the goofy suit. In my opinion Wolf would be better as an alternative costume, kinda like Blood Falcon and Daisy I guess. However if him playable means Krystal ain't in, then by all means he should be.

Ness gets cut from the games for looking too similar to Lucas. Seen this argument a few times, leading me to a new prediction: Luigi is cut from the games for looking too similar to Mario. No, not seriously! But Ness and Lucas are the same height and have similar looking faces. Other than that, they look completely different from a distance. More than just the colour swap saves him as well... Ness has a cap, backpack, black hair... and the benefit of being the only Mother character released outside of Japan. I expect all of these have factored into Sakurai's decision, which is why Lucas's moves so far seem to be different to Ness's. As far as I'm concerned, Ness is a sure thing - unlockable perhaps... but I'm more sure of Ness after the footage over the last week than I ever have been. I'm starting to get concerned about Captain Falcon though... Edit: Just noticed the Mario/Luigi comparison was just made in another thread. Obviously great minds DO think alike.

We do have Falcon's logo for Goroh's assist trophy. Table scraps in terms of hope, yes, but it's something!

Who the crap would replace Falcon? If they don't have a replacement, what reason does he have to get cut?

Pretty good Tei. My only complaint is you have 5 3rd party. As much as I would like Bomberman, him and Pacman are both unlikely. I'm betting Snake, Sonic and Megaman are the only 3.
I think Falco is going to make it back. I think Melee gave him more popularity, and he was already a popular character with in Starfox. He is the Han Solo of Starfox (and I wouldn't doubt Miyamoto molded him after Mr. Solo). I think Falco is going to be like Ganondorf and get some new moveset. I think he's more likely then people give him credit for. I think Wolf isn't making it, and Starfox will have Fox, Falco and Krystal (who are, out of most, the best candidates for out of ship fighting)
