Falco wouldn't even need to be unlockable. He might even appear in the next weeks in the site, as well as Captain Falcon (patience!).
Bomberman sounds a bit more random than Pac-Man, doesn't he?

Whoops about the WW trophy. Well, regardless, I was mistaken. Oh well. I'll edit this or respond later to all the other posts; in a bit of a rush

Maybe, but I'd like to see Bomberman... I don't know exactly how big Hudson is. Are they on par with Konami, Capcom and Sega?
I'd certainly be very surprised if Mega Man isn't in at this point.

I think Hudson is now OWNED by Konami
And GEEZ, there are 12 people online right now.

Hudson is indeed owned by Konami, that is true. Add to that Hudson's developing the Mario Party series and the huge TG-16 support for the VC and Bomberman does show potential as a possible Brawl contender. Hell, they made Sonic work well with his many dashes, so why not Bomberman with his multitude of bombs?

Like I've been saying for a while, Bonk has a good chance. I still don't think he's more likely than Mega Man, but Bonk is the poster boy for Hudson (moreso than Bomberman) and esp. the TG16. He'd be amusing as hell to play as too.
Falco will stay. He's frigging Falco. EVERYBODY loves Falco.
Krystal will get added. Every franchise EXCEPT for those obvious (Ice Climber, Kid Icarus, Wario, Yoshi) and Star Fox and Fire Emblem has two fighters each. Why wouldn't we see extra fighters for those two franchises, esp. considering how prolific they've become? This also means that Marth stays, in my mind.
And Pokemon HAS to have Lucario. It's friggin Lucario. Why would they ditch the most massively popular Pokemon since Mewtwo? He would work fantastically in a Smash Bros. game too. JPuff may get the axe, which would upset a lot of people BUT she almost did in Melee and remember: Sakurai wanted to put Lucas in Melee and couldn't but now he has in Brawl. So.. eventually he is going to get to this, I'd think...
Bowser Jr. will be the next Mario character, assuming they go for 5 again this time. He's basically the 2nd villain now, and he's got quite the fan following. I can see it.
Geno, who I would DIE if he became a fighter, will probably be relegated to AT status, considering how many like-minded characters (Jill, Little Mac, Lyn, Goroh) became Assists. This sadly also counts for Takamaru and Sukapon, BUT may also mean we get inclusions like Card Hero and Mike as well (who had no shot at becoming playable anyways)
And, finally, the only guaranteed characters, IMO, to appear are the following (with reasoning): *Ganondorf-- completes the Triforce triad and is a very popular villain. He has a lot of potential for a new moveset and if they bothered to keep Zelda (with or without Sheik), they will probably bother to keep Ganon *Luigi-- duhhhhhhhh *Marth-- the original poster boy of Fire Emblem, and it has been proven that Ike plays very differently from the more graceful Marth. also, as his game is being remade for the DS, it poses a good chance that they are trying to reignite his "career." Also, dudes-it's MARTH. He's only second to Fox and Sheik in Melee competitive play. *Captain Falcon-- it is scary he has yet to be announced, but remember: he could be unlockable again. Captain Falcon IS F-Zero, and it's silly to think they could replace him with anybody else. *King Dedede-- he was passed over the Melee alongside a few others, and those few others are now all in Brawl. Funny, you say? I say prophetic. Regardless, Kirby deserves more representation and Dedede is a very recognized and popular choice. *Krystal-- I'll tell you why: female furry with a staff from a newer incarnation of an older franchise. If they are going with Command style Fox, they are pulling from the new Star Fox games and along with that comes the likes of Krystal. She has been popularized since her first appearance in Adventures, and became a main member of the team in Assault. I think it's a very good shot, if not 100% certain, that she is in the game. *Mr. Game and Watch-- He has a gap in the franchise list just for him and, frankly, he works. The gimmick is gone, sadly, but Mr. Game and Watch still has a lot of potential to be interesting. His Final Smash must be amazing. *Animal Crossing Fighter-- don't care who, but we're getting one. No other franchise that isn't represented with a playable character has its own logo. Yes, the stage is interesting and sure the logo goes with that, but what about that interview with the creator of AC, who sent his ideas to Sakurai?

I don't argue with your other reasoning, but stop treating that interview as fact. It never had a source or proof attached to it, so as far as I'm concerned it's just another false GameFAQs rumor.

Brawl doesn't need Jigglypuff, as Jigglypuff is not a flagship of the Pokémon franchise. But it keeps being a numerically popular Pokémon, at least in America. Actually I've always said it's an egg & chicken dilemma when it comes to Jigglypuff and Super Smash Bros.
Sakurai doesn't go too technical with Pokémon. If somebody ever told me, say, that he wants to keep Jigglypuff because it resembles Kirby, I would believe it no matter how stupid it sounds.
BTW, I wouldn't understand the purpose of returning Ness or Captain Falcon to an unlockable status as some of you use to suggest :-\

Ness gets cut from the games for looking too similar to Lucas. Seen this argument a few times, leading me to a new prediction: Luigi is cut from the games for looking too similar to Mario. No, not seriously! But Ness and Lucas are the same height and have similar looking faces. Other than that, they look completely different from a distance. More than just the colour swap saves him as well... Ness has a cap, backpack, black hair... and the benefit of being the only Mother character released outside of Japan. I expect all of these have factored into Sakurai's decision, which is why Lucas's moves so far seem to be different to Ness's. As far as I'm concerned, Ness is a sure thing - unlockable perhaps... but I'm more sure of Ness after the footage over the last week than I ever have been. I'm starting to get concerned about Captain Falcon though... Edit: Just noticed the Mario/Luigi comparison was just made in another thread. Obviously great minds DO think alike. Blergh, okay, I've fixed up my list on the last page. I wasn't thinking very clearly when I made that thing. That and I forgot what Ness actually looked like and the difference is significant enough. Falcon and Ness being unlockable again works on the same logic as to why Luigi is STILL unlockable: it just works

I still believe there must be some reason why Luigi is always unlockable. Some kind of tradition symbolizing the multiplayer nature of Nintendo video games that started when Luigi was born...
Don't give up, updates with veterans shall keep appearing in the official site these weeks ^_^

His ^B can send opponents flying in a fiery blast if hit right. It's just like Jigglypuff's rest. So, he stays hidden.

I always figured Ness and Falcon were made unlockable in Melee because they were the only ones to represent their franchises. But then there was Marth and Game & Watch, too...hrn.

I wonder... If Sakurai is now aiming for a different thing regarding the roster.
If now we will something as "soft unlock", with all the characters revealed before hand and taking part of the SE plot? All characters known since release for everyone, easy to unlock (no play 237623 matches), all of them havinging the same importance and "screentime" (Marth and Roy were obscure and underrated compared with starters like Mario or Link) like a family.

I don't think we're seeing any more veterans on the site until after release none of the characters that were secret in either of the last two games have been shown yet. Capt Falcon is pretty well confirmed. And Ness still seems likely.
