DK Jr. was in Tennis and Super Mario Kart, so I wouldn't count him out at as possibility. Hell... it's definitely Sakurai's style.
He was also used in the eReader ads here in the states as the spokesmodel. Not even Mario or Ice Climbers had that credit.

DK Jr. also:
* Appeared as a trophy in SSBM.
* Appeared in the old 80s cartoon, Saturday Supercade, which he was voiced by someone who also voiced the most annoying cartoon character: Scrappy Doo. He did talk like Scrappy, and shouted "Monkey Muscle" whenever he begins to fight or take action. The same voice actor later did Game Boy in Captain N: The Game Master.
* Met the former Cocoa Crispies mascot, Coco the Monkey, while they advertised Super Mario Kart by racing against each other.
* Appeared in Mario's Tennis for Virtual Boy, as well as Mario Tennis for the N64.
AND
* Appeared in remakes of the Wide Screen versions of the Game & Watch Donkey Kong Jr. in Game & Watch Gallery 3 and 4.
Donkey Kong Jr. doesn't have much potential. All he can do is climb vines and drop fruit. He would most likely become an Assist Trophy and throw fruit at the opponents of whoever used the Assist Trophy.

I agree they're kinda at the same level, but only because it wouldn't contribute with a new game series to the SSB roster.
Parrot, remember that he can also add, substract, mutiply, and divide.

Considering how jam-packed the game will be with other content, like online and expanded single-player, I could live with a few less characters. Implementing single-player FMVs and online smoothness for 6 more characters probably would have delayed the game till 2008, anyways.

DK Jr. had quite a legacy back in the day!  As worthy as Ice Climbers, Balloon Fighter, etc. Waluigi is even less worthy than everyone's favourite...  |

I can definitely say that I heavily disagree with your taste in potential Smash characters. Note that I didn't say "your taste is terrible", cause it's not. But if it were up to me, I'd keep Waluigi, at least in a playable form, out of my Brawl. He'd make for a sweet assist, though. And I wouldn't waste a playable slot on Dr. Mario, sorry. |

Waluigi would rock if they did him right. And didn't waste slots for other, better characters.
But Waluigi in his badass Strikers gear, with a few sports themed attacks, maybe that weird rose whip he has and a few Bob-ombs.
Actually, Waluigi would be a good "Famicom Sports" rep. Sure, he was never in the games, but it's a fun way to mix old with new. Let him pull out fancy moves from Baseball, Ice Hockey, Soccer, Tennis, and the rest. It could work.

There's always NDAs. So they CAN'T give info. Hence why losers can hide behind their lies and nobody can truly be sure if that was for real or not. But the guy who posted about Melee... he came outta nowhere, posted a roster, swore it on his soul, and left. People begged him till release to explain himself, to answer who "Roy and Marth" were, and give us a good reason why we should expect to be playing as the "joke" characters Pichu and Dr. Mario. Come the Japanese release of Melee, I nearly crapped myself. He was right all along. Three months in advance. How does a person guess 9 characters out of the blue? Especially when they're stuff like Mr. Game and Watch? ...I sound like an idiot following this guy like a lost dog, but I'm buying it for now. He didn't give us anything definite anyways. No crazy roster, no whackjob ideas. Just a number. And I really have nothing to lose. This is also why I beleivve it's true. Plus, the numbers will all seem to fall into place, and is the best amount of characters, adding what everyone wants. I think 34 selecable characaters is good as it's a large leap from Melee, but is still in the reaml of reason (mine was 30-35). He told us that a Newcomer and a Vet will be shown this week. He was right about the newcomer, if he's right about the vet then I'd give him the benifit of the doubt. There hasn't been many weeks with two characxters so I doubt it be a lucky guese. Let's see how things pan out. |
