Wow. Don't you also genuinely want Tom Nook as a playable character? I can definitely say that I heavily disagree with your taste in potential Smash characters. Note that I didn't say "your taste is terrible", cause it's not. But if it were up to me, I'd keep Waluigi, at least in a playable form, out of my Brawl. He'd make for a sweet assist, though. And I wouldn't waste a playable slot on Dr. Mario, sorry. I'm just rattling off names of characters I like (not necessarily like as Smash fighters) in the hopes of getting someone riled up. But I do despise the idea of both Krystal and Geno, though. Come, now, Dancey. Where's the <3?

Geno and Krystal deserve no love. Tei, of course, does.
Tei for Brawl?

I posted this is another thread, but decided to repost it here so I can discuss it. This I found on Gamefaqs. PuroresuGrande Posted 8/12/2007 3:05:36 PM message detail
DON'T ASK FOR MY SOURCE. You will not be disappointed...
There are 34 playable characters (excluding transformations). There are 20 starting characters, 14 hidden characters. Six characters have been removed from the last game. One of the "Original 12" has been removed. There are 15 newcomers (excluding transformations). All but one of the represented franchises from Super Smash Bros. Melee will be returning. Two character profiles will be revealed this coming week at the DOJO!! (one veteran and one newcomer).
Mock me now if you must, but I'll certainly be having the last laugh. By the end of the week, you'll see that I'm correct with at least two of the above points. So now with the update for Princess Peach occurring within the same week as Pokemon Trainer, this brings up some interesting questions. Is this guy for real? Does the "one newcomer and one veteran this week" line count as TWO things coming true? The 15 Newcomers comment... was that proven true? The 20 character starting roster? It's all so.. intriguing. If you count the character blocks on the Smash Bros DOJO, there is room for exactly 20 total. There are three more Newcomers after Trainer and ONE Veteran after Peach. Now nobody said the grid had to stay totally even. Easily Sakurai could leave gaps for unlockable characters, but it is a little suspicious. We're all pretty certain Falcon is returning, but how certain are we of Ice Climbers or Ness? The only other potentially starting veteran characters? And if we look at the newcomers, we have Meta Knight who gets a slot and then... what? A Mother character if Ness doesn't return as a veteran? Somebody else? Zero Suit Samus is included, which goes against the 20 characters WITHOUT transformations included, so that does throw a wrench in what I'm trying to explain here. I guess my point was that, however, it is a little suspect. "It could work," so to speak

On "without transformations included", would Zamus+Samus count as one veteran, or as one newcomer? Too many variables.

On "without transformations included", would Zamus+Samus count as one veteran, or as one newcomer? Too many variables. That's what I'm wrestling with now. Sheik had their own profile on the Melee website, yet was not considered a full character addition--much like Zero Suit Samus. Is she considered a transformation? Likely. But that means there would have to be one extra character all on their lonesome in a third row for newcomers to make twenty after one more veteran, OR 5 more veterans and no more newcomers. But we know Meta Knight is coming back, and we KNOW there will Captain Falcon and Ness/Lucas. So right there we have room for either two more or one more newcomer to make a perfect two rows. Ice Climbers may be the characters who get the axe or at least become secret, because they could add a whole nother row for the veterans and include, potentially, Ness, Marth, Ice Climbers, and somebody else. Of course, Sakurai doesn't HAVE to follow a perfect grid. He may not be a fan of proper aesthetics This is just what I'm discovering if the guy is right about 20 starting characters (which is, on its own, an incredibly large number of starting fighters and I can't see it getting much higher). The veterans grid is more or less assured, if we are looking at a perfectly even grid and assuming 20 total characters. This all sounds really crazy, I know, but it's just my thought process. Bear with it

Actually Flip, you failed to consider one thing. If Sheik is back in Brawl, it's likely that she gets her own profile. So if we had 4 Returning Characters, 1 Returning Transformation, and 1 Newcomer, the grid is still perfect, and that guy is still right. Everyone wins! Of course, that's far less Newcomers than I want in the starting roster, and way too many Veterans, so I'm really just thinking we get an uneven grid for the game's launch. Sakurai will probably put up the unlockables after the game comes out anyways, so he'll be able to even out the grid then.

Both of you guys just posted points I just realized. Look... If the grid for the newcomers has 15 total, it won't work. So Zamus counts as a transformation, we get four rows of four and everyone's happy. The veterans have 19. Add Sheik, we have 20. Five rows of four, we're cool. This then means that there are only 7 veterans left to be revealed (o.O) There are definitely some major cuts here. Captain Falcon, Luigi, Ganondorf stay. No ifs, ands, or buts. Marth, Mewtwo, Ice Climbers. That works. Now with the Ice Climbers kept, Game and Watch gets the boot as the Melee franchise we lose (and it makes sense if Ice Climbers comes after Fire Emblem in the world icon list. Tho, by that point, we'd know they were in the game ). It could go the other way as well, but regardless one of them leaves. Falco... gets the boot. Either Ness or Jigglypuff stays, as this guy says one of the original 12 leaves. If we axe Ness, we get a newcomer in Lucas and that works with the grids. I guess we could axe Mewtwo or Marth as well, and keep Falco in, but the chances that those two are staying over Falco I view as high enough. In all, it'll be interesting to see how all this stuff starts to pan out over the next few weeks.

Sorry, but I gotta point out one problem.
That means the characters getting axed are: Dr. Mario, Roy, Pichu, Young Link, Falco, Ness, and Game & Watch, right?
That's 7 characters getting axed. Not six.

This is one crazy rumor, is it not?
Has anyone here thought about how he says a veteran will be returning? Should'nt a "veteran" character be from from SSB64 and not from SSBM. Would'nt they (from SSBM)be called a returning character?
Personally, I find it amazing that this guy was right about this week's updates. My theory is that this person just somehow hacked the computer/electronic source of these updates.
