It's been about a week since the rumor was started... based off a magazine. The fact it hasn't been substantiated yet is enough to kill the rumor.

Rumor or no rumor... we have an Animal Crossing icon on the site.
That's why it's worth talking about. We don't have any proof that it means there will be an AC character and not just a stage, but I think it's a safe bet that the icon means there will be a character.

It hasn't been about a week... it's been about three days. I'm doubting it at the moment, but it's still possible it could turn out to be true.

I know I've seen this rumor around the net since Sunday, at least. The interview is most probably a fake.
That being said, the possibility of an AC human being a fighter is still completely possible. The arguments that Animal Crossing does not lend itself to fighting does not add up, precisely because it's Smash Bros. Move sets are made up for other characters. Characters from mainly non-violent games have been fighters (like Mr. Game & Watch as has been said). And it's not that hard for people to come up with a unique set of possible attacks from using elements all derived from the game. The only thing to be added to an AC character would be normal attacks, really, and even those could be partially derived from the movements the AC humans make within the game. There are other fighters that have had a lot more added to them than that to make them fighters. It is completely within the realm of possibility. And that's all I tried to say from the beginning.

From what I gleaned from GoNintendo, it has nothing to do with Brawl and is rather old.

This one was posted by someone else, who thought, or was playing apon, the rumored article. Not the same, and doesn't disconferm it. |
