Well... if Ness is a secret... then maybe F-Zero will follow the same pattern. And Rick Wheeler will be a starter and Captain Falcon will be unlockable. And then I'll go track you down and beat the crap out of you. Rick Wheeler...  Better they should use Cp. Falcon Descendent from “F-zero Maximum Velocity“ This is crap. I'm serious. Great update! Lucas in the game! And they mention Ness! The good news about this update is that he is the first (and hopefully not last) Japan-only character! ;D He's not a Japan-only character... If he was Japan-Only he'd show up on the JP version and Sakurai would have given us something else. |

I'd rather have just Captain Falcon for F-Zero if my choice was one character for the entire franchise or having him being joined by Rick Wheeler. =\ I don't like the guy very much--he reminds me too much of a bad fanfiction character, especially given the spoiler you mentioned, Parrot. Great update! Lucas in the game! And they mention Ness! The good news about this update is that he is the first (and hopefully not last) Japan-only character! ;D He's not a Japan-only character... - Yeah I admit with the GBA going on the way out this year (supposedly) it would have a higher chance of going to WiiWare than the DS. If it went to the DS, Nintendo would have to pay for distributon and advertising and all the rest. - That's a good idea with the idea of downloading GBA games that did not do too well. I also think they should do some DS titles too. - S&P had a lot of english in and did not need much translation for it to be sent to the VC. (Has anyone downloaded it yet?) - But Roy's game did come to the US, it's just his father who was in the game. Well, yeah, the Virtual Console is a perfect place for Nintendo to give international releases to games that they missed. You know like letting the US play Nazo no Marasamejou, the Europeans finally have Earthbound, and the Japanese getting all confused on Startropics. I definately hope that the US and Europe get an Earthbound Week, with Earthbound/Mother 2 for the SNES, Earthbound Zero/Mother for the NES, and Earthbound 2/Mother 3 as WiiWare. It isn't the biggest franchise in the US or EU, but it IS an RPG and Square Enix certainly isn't donating theirs for the Virtual Console! |

After reading that historical article on Rick Wheeler, I don't loathe him quite as much.

My money's on Falcon staying. Why the hell would you ditch such a popular character? Unlike Ness, Falcon appears in every game in some carnation AND has the "goofy" factor going. If they add another F-Zero fighter, regardless, it'll be a villain. The popular requests (besides Goroh) have been for Black Shadow and Deathborn. Personally, I'd like to see Princia Ramode or Lily Flyer.. But oh well.
As far as other Mother fighters go, I think Ness would be the second option. Claus has plenty of reasons to go in, but Ness has the appeal of having already been in two games. I don't know. Kumatora would be kickass and I'd love them all the more for having her in there, but I doubt it when they could easily include Ness alongside Lucas or go for the Claus angle.

F-Zero is one of the most well respected racing franchises in all of gaming, because it helped to make it what it is today. F-Zero has had a legendary past, and thanks to a new found popularity due to the anime, it looks to have a very bright future. Who knows what the future holds for F-Zero. After seeing F-Zero GX, in all it's glory, one can hardly imagine how wonder F-Zero will be on the Nintendo Wii. All we can do is look forward. I hope that this historical article will help you gain a better understanding of this legendary franchise, and given you a better appreciation of the legacy behind it. And by the way, if SSBB reveals a newcomer from the F-ZERO series, then I assume it would be Rick Wheeler (Ryu Suzaku in Japan), because |1.| he was one of the main characters of the anime, |2.| F-ZERO Climax is the most recent title of the series, which is based on the anime, |3.| the anime is probably still running in Japan, and |4.| like Ness is to Lucas, Captain Falcon is to Rick Wheeler, because SPOILER > Rick became the next Captain Falcon in the series < SPOILER. I know Sakurai can't accept anime/manga characters, but Rick Wheeler is a Nintendo character, and some things from the SNES F-ZERO manual's comic, such as the Falcon Flyer and Captain Falcon's Foward A and Forward B moves made an appearance in SSBM. Don't forget all the references to the Pokemon anime, as well as the references to the Kirby anime that were in Kirby Air Ride. |

Personally, I think Lucas will be this SSB's Marth and Roy. Fire Emblem was pretty much Japan-only prior to about 2002 or so. No one except the hardcore are gonna recognize Lucas.

I think Capt. Falcon will stay, but also that he'll be the only one. Sorry Tei. Of course, the whole Ness in/out thing is been going across the internet. No one has a clear awnser. It's times like these I wish I had Nsiders. Good source of LAWLZ right there.

Dosen't anybody remember Black Shadow, or even Deathborn? They were the main villians in F-Zero.
Though as Smashchu said before, I think C. Falcon will be the only one in, because everybody did thing Samurai Goroh would be playable, but they were wrong.

I am actually hoping that Captain Falcon will be the only F-Zero character playable in Brawl. Black Shadow can be in Brawl as a boss just like Petey Piranha.
