I will say though that this update makes up for Friday.

I don't know what to say here. With Sakurai saying that he possibly "surpasses" Ness, he might kill Ness off... or still retaining him, with Ness being mentioned (and to be compared possibly within SSB Brawl).
This announcement just added more question marks into my head.
And this is the best Monday update I've seen, even though everyone's been expecting Lucas.

If we're going to see Ness we'll probably do so this week possibly on Thursday, not sure why just feels like it.

If we get Ness, he'll probably be secret now.

Do Mr. Saturn reappear in MOTHER 3? Or are they in the game just because they were in Melee?

Did Lucas have a sound stone? Or should we expect to hear different victory music for him?

I gotta admit, I'd be kinda upset if MOTHER got two characters and F-Zero only got one. Maybe MOTHER is just obscenely more popular in the land of the rising sun than my favorite racing franchise, but in every other region, F-Zero pwns the pants of MOTHER in sales and knowledge-wise.
It wouldn't make me shake my fist or keep me from buying the game, but it'd certainly elicit a defeated sigh that's a little heavy on the melodrama. Maybe even a hanging of the head.
Um. Otherwise...cool? Lucas has weird hair.

Well... if Ness is a secret... then maybe F-Zero will follow the same pattern. And Rick Wheeler will be a starter and Captain Falcon will be unlockable. And then I'll go track you down and beat the crap out of you.

Actually, I'm expecting Lucas to have a whole, none-borrowed moveset of his own and that Kumatora takes the place of second Mother fighter using PK Fire/Thunder and other PK things she learns ingame. Ofcourse it's smash brothers what we're talking about, so it could go either way. ...Now I really want Kumatora to be playable as well edit: woah, we're on page 4 now? oh whatever

Not many F-Zero characters were wanted that badly.

This is crap. I'm serious. I hate this update. Unless Ness is still in.

Not many F-Zero characters were wanted that badly. F-Zero is one of the most well respected racing franchises in all of gaming, because it helped to make it what it is today. F-Zero has had a legendary past, and thanks to a new found popularity due to the anime, it looks to have a very bright future. Who knows what the future holds for F-Zero. After seeing F-Zero GX, in all it's glory, one can hardly imagine how wonder F-Zero will be on the Nintendo Wii. All we can do is look forward. I hope that this historical article will help you gain a better understanding of this legendary franchise, and given you a better appreciation of the legacy behind it. And by the way, if SSBB reveals a newcomer from the F-ZERO series, then I assume it would be Rick Wheeler (Ryu Suzaku in Japan), because |1.| he was one of the main characters of the anime, |2.| F-ZERO Climax is the most recent title of the series, which is based on the anime, |3.| the anime is probably still running in Japan, and |4.| like Ness is to Lucas, Captain Falcon is to Rick Wheeler, because SPOILER > Rick became the next Captain Falcon in the series < SPOILER. I know Sakurai can't accept anime/manga characters, but Rick Wheeler is a Nintendo character, and some things from the SNES F-ZERO manual's comic, such as the Falcon Flyer and Captain Falcon's Foward A and Forward B moves made an appearance in SSBM.
