In an irrelevant twist, I'll say I like this update because I have this personal character who shares similarities with Ashley, except the song matches the singing voice I had in mind for her nearly perfectly. That's the good thing about being an artist who's stylings are inspired by things like Brawl. ;D

Apparently I missed FIVE pages of goodness. Damn. But I did a little digging, and sorry if this was posted already. Emily McIntosh, the voice of Ashley, is a singer/songwriter and vocal coach in the Seattle area. She posted it on the blog at the 27th of August, so this was potentially known for a while profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=78403168Also, Terry Lauber is a sound-recorder dude in the Seattle area as well. www.terrylauber.com/James Cowan is too common a name to have anything turn up. And did anybody see the arrangement was put together by the guy from NiGHTS? That's awesome I like this song a lot (and my girlfriend was thrilled to hear something that sounded kinda Broadway in a Nintendo game), but I hope they still do something Wario Land or World inspired for the NORMAL stage music.

Yeah Flip, we already discovered everything you posted, with the exception of the Terry Lauber thing.

I'd like to think Ashley was so Apathetic that they had to get someone else to sing her song. =P

I'm starting to change my initial opinion.
You see... this song is ridiculous... it always has been. But I got used to it in Twisted, and I'll get used to it in Brawl. It's just like the DK rap.
I HATED the fact that they remixed the DK rap in Melee. Why? Well... I didn't like that they were singing about characters NOT EVEN in the game. It seemed irrelevant. It seemed like a bad idea at the time. And on top of that... it plays on a stage that had nothing to do with that song either. That song is ridiculous... there's no way you can even call that "Rap".... it's silly... it's weird... and it's the last thing I ever expected to hear in a fighting game.
And I got used to it. I can see that it's not an embarrasing song to have in the game. I know the lyrics by heart now, I'm used to it.... it's not a big deal anyway. It just goes to show you... my initial reaction to the song was negative... but in the end it didn't matter. Now I can appreciate it more. Ashley's theme was the same in Warioware twisted.... and here it is in Brawl.... well.... I can't say I'll ever want the song on CD, but I might catch myself singing it now and then. And yeah... they're singing about Ashley... who....isn't.....in the game? (Jeez, watch me be wrong about that....)
The arrangement itself, I haven't spoke about... but I give the singer credit. Does it sound like Ashley? No. Is the singer a little too over-the-top? Yeah. Though maybe they just wanted it to really sound different from the original. Thinking back, they did the same with the DK rap didn't they? It's jazzier... it's got more energy.... and I'm sure alot of people will hate it for that... but I can appreciate it. Ok, enough of that already.
The Japanese version... ok, yeah, she sounds too small. That's that Japanese shit again... but then again... maybe it's not. Have you ever listened to the soundtrack to NiGHTS? There's a song , actually it's the theme to the game.... it's called "Dreams Dreams". Well... it's catchy as hell and it's vocal. There are 2 versions. And adult version, and a children version. The female singer in the adult version sounds like the English "Ashley's theme"...in the way that she sounds older and sings with a jazzy flair.... and the children version is like the Japanese "Ashley's theme"... with little kids singing and all. I think this is just that guy's style. Kids singing jazzy songs with catchy lyrics.
And you know what? I hate that song too. Especially the little kids... singing about love and stuff... it just sounds weird...... but you know.... I got used to it. It was probably chosen to be in brawl because of how memorable it is.... which... I can't deny. I would prefer Crygor's theme to be the theme of Warioware... which it seems to be... it's remixed in some way in most of the games... even on the title screen to Smooth Moves! Sounds like a theme song to me... but it's Sakurai's call.

^ Well... the singer in Brawl doesn't sound like Ashley at all to me in both version.
I guess it's o big deal to me. At least this update let me know what does the Japanese version was like. My mistake for buying the US version initially.

The problem is that Ashely didn't sing. She was kind of talking, so having anyone sing it will sound off.
