Meowth is so underrated even though he's a household name, thanks to the TV show. We got Pikachu and Ash (under the Pokemon Trainer moniker) but no Meowth?! Ugh, I'll be sure to look out for the confirmation of May (under the Pokemon Coordinator moniker) and her three Pokemon: Mudkip, Grovyle, and the overrated Blaziken. Maybe her nerdy brother Max will be running around the stage with her. If that overrated Lucario is playable, I'll knock it down a few pegs with Ice Climbers.
Honestly, this update has Sonic's update beaten as the worst update ever in my eyes. But even I expected Sonic to be playable because I knew deep down he would be... But Meowth, I never expected him to be unplayable.
Now I know how disappointed Samurai Goroh fans, Lyn fans, and even the overrated Deoxys fans felt when these three were deconfirmed.

Gotta agree with DiU here. I don't see how Meowth counts as underrated... at all. It's one of the ten most popular Pokémon. In fact, it's far more overrated than May or Lucario are. At least May would be representing the (very underrated) third generation, and Lucario has great potential.
Meowth would just be kind of... there. For no reason other than the fact that fans love him.
Don't get me wrong, I adore Meowth. There's just no way he deserved to be playable.

And I know Meowth is based off of those familiar looking cats, with the paw up in the air and they're always holding a coin (I'd look it up on Wikipedia, but I dont' want to look like a Weeaboo). I'm not sure about the gold coin, but there's a legend about why the cat always has his paw in the air. Japan's first emperor was doing battle one day. While fighting, he saw a cat beckoning to him and went to the cat. An arrow flew by the spot he was at a second ago; he would've died. The emperor ordered a little figurine of the cat beckoning as a good luck charm.

Meowth is so underrated even though he's a household name, thanks to the TV show. We got Pikachu and Ash (under the Pokemon Trainer moniker) but no Meowth?! Well, when will enough be enough? You have HOW many pokemon characters already? I say, Meowth would have worked in Smash Brothers. He would have! But he stood an snowball's chance in hell and you know it. Why? We have enough Pokemon. His most signature move is Pay Day... so just be thankful that he's in and has that move. Well, I have no idea what you're getting at. But May's only popular because she has a huge rack for a 10 year old and is a total slut. Well, that's your own fault then. Honestly... Meowth is just another Pokemon. If Smash Brothers was a Pokemon game ONLY, I'd bet on Meowth's chances... but Smash Brothers is different. Obviously... the developers of the game didn't feel he was important enough. It's not a big deal. And they're still going to buy it and love it.

Oh, kinda why Pit is in Brawl? He got in because of fan love. Why Ice Climbers got in over Pit in Melee is beyond me. But they fixed that in Brawl. But it remains that Pit finally got in because fans love him, not because he deserved to be playable. Pit fans believe he deserved to be playable just like Meowth fans believe he deserved to be playable.
I guess since the characters confirmed as summons never deserved to be playable then? Little Mac, Lyn, Samurai Goroh, and Deoxys never deserved to be playable, is that it?
Oh, maybe Wario, Pit, Diddy Kong, and Meta Knight never deserved to be playable in Melee but they all of sudden deserved to be playable in Brawl? Give me a break!

But it remains that Pit finally got in because fans love him, not because he deserved to be playable. Pit fans believe he deserved to be playable just like Meowth fans believe he deserved to be playable. Unlike Pit, Meowth is a character from a series which is already hugely represented. In Melee, Pokémon had the same number of characters as Mario and Zelda, and there's no reason Meowth should be in over the hundreds of others that can be used. I guess since the characters confirmed as summons never deserved to be playable then? Little Mac, Lyn, Samurai Goroh, and Deoxys never deserved to be playable, is that it? Exactly. They're good characters, but they don't quite cut it as playables. This means that Sakurai has other characters he'd rather include. Oh, maybe Wario, Pit, Diddy Kong, and Meta Knight never deserved to be playable in Melee but they all of sudden deserved to be playable in Brawl? Give me a break! ...By that logic we shouldn't have ANY newcomers! In fact, by that logic, nobody who wasn't in the original SSB deserved to be in Melee at all! Why not just remake SSB with new graphics every new console generation? I'm sorry, Arcadenik, but I'm finding your posts to be increasingly more ridiculous.

Do you know the best thing about Meowth not being playable (to me at least)? It means that there is a chance of Jigglypuff still being playable. Hooray for meowth not being playable!!

While I hate to jump on the bandwagon, I have to point out something. Here is the things about characters. In order to get yourself and invite to Smash, you have to be better then everyother character before you. Why is Lyn not in Brawl. She has fans right? Thus, she deserves it. Well, we have Ike. While Ike isn't known by people who haven't touched FE, he was still popular in both the west and Japan, yet Lyn was only popular here. So, she didn't make the cut. If Lyn or Samurai Gohor didn't make it, what chances do you think Mewoth has (or had). Not to great huh? In fact, relative to all the other pokemon, he was a at the large bottom. Ones like Lucario and Blaziken and Mudkip are leagues beyond Mewoth.

Kirbychu, that logic was based your argument that Meowth never deserved to be playable. So by that logic, anyone who are not playable in Brawl never deserved to be playable. And following that logic back in Melee, anyone who's not playable in Melee never deserved to be playable. So when characters not playable in Melee are playable in Brawl, does that mean they all of sudden deserved to be playable?
Maybe Pit, Diddy Kong, Wario, and Meta Knight were not cut for fighting in Melee but all of sudden they do in Brawl? Give me a break.
And I'm getting quite tired of the hypocrisy that people say Pokemon got enough characters so no more Pokemon characters yet the same people say Mario and Zelda need more characters when Mario and Zelda had the same amount of characters as Pokemon did in Melee.

Maybe, just maybe, and I know its crazy, but nobody 'deserves' to be in Smash Bros, and the way they get in is based on a number of factors that Sakurai and the rest of the team deem important - and Pit, Metaknight, Pokemon Trainer, etc meet this and Meowth, Lyn, Goroh, etc don't.
Crazy I know.

And following that logic back in Melee, anyone who's not playable in Melee never deserved to be playable. So when characters not playable in Melee are playable in Brawl, does that mean they all of sudden deserved to be playable? WTF? What are you even talking about. If there was a point in that post, I sure as heck couldn't find it. Meowth never, repeat NEVER, deserved to be playable. No one cared. Look at DiU's post above. Guess what, Pit was planned for both SSB and Melee. However, none of the others were ever planned until now. ehem Mario and Zelda both had 5 characters. However, Dr. Mario and probably Sheik will be cut, leaving them at 4. So now we have an opportunity to add another for each franchise. But, the only Zelda character we want is Tingle. Mario however has a plethora of usable characters. Pokemon doesn't as picking a few pokemon that would work is easier said then done. But this is IF we get another character for those franchises, which is iffy.

Tell me exactly what Meowth would bring to the game that no other character could, please. Then explain to me why Meowth is important enough to the Pokémon franchise, or original enough as far as movesets go, to be included over anybody else. Meowth didn't make the cut. This is not the end of the world as, despite his popularity, Meowth is fairly unimportant and unoriginal, at least in comparison to many other characters in the franchise. Meowth is massively overrated with low real potential, which is likely the reason Sakurai decided not to include him over, say Pokémon Trainer - possibly the most original character in SSB's history. I'm all for more characters from Pokémon. I never said it shouldn't have more characters. But wasting a spot on dull-as-ditchwater Meowth would have disappointed me majorly.

Haha, yeah, crazy, huh? Dr. Mario got in over Wario! Haha! And the only reason he got in Melee was because Sakurai loved his music! Wow! Music!! Yeah, that deems Dr. Mario a very important Mario character! Crazy, I know! Ahh, thank you for correcting me, Smashchu. Mario and Zelda each got five characters in Melee while Pokemon only had four yet they want more Mario and Zelda characters and less Pokemon characters. Wow, that's even more hypocritical that I thought. I'm sure there are other Zelda characters they want besides Tingle.. What about Vaati (The Minish Cap version), Cel-Shaded Link (to update Young Link), and Ganon (the pig demon)? I saw TWW Tingle's trophy so I think he's deconfirmed. Anyway, while I'm very disappointed with this deconfirmation, I will get the game anyway. Just because one is disappointed with something about the game does not always mean one won't get the game. Don't confuse me with Kingmananan. Damn, my list of wanted characters keeps on shrinking and shrinking. At least I got Pit and Lucas, I guess.
