Miis are interesting but lost their flavor once Wii Sports got old. Nine different Hitlers and Michael Jacksons later, there's nothing new or interesting about 'em anymore. And you know why they lost their flavor. They're not in enough games. SSB could easily revitalize Miis. So I still stand by Playable Miis with a WiiPlay/WiiSports Moves are still a good Idea.

And you know why they lost their flavor. They're not in enough games. SSB could easily revitalize Miis. So I still stand by Playable Miis with a WiiPlay/WiiSports Moves are still a good Idea. Then put them in something else first and wait for the next SSB game, where there's gonna be more character slots or something. X( I'm not so egocentric to want to play as myself, I don't care about inserting a Mario Mii or whatever into the game when I could play as the real thing, and I hate Celebrity Miis.
You know what I've noticed? Almost every franchise is getting a character extension, or a new character of some kind. DK finally gets a second character in Diddy, Kirby has Dedede and Meta Knight, and Samus gets a transformation with ZSS. Hell, even MOTHER gets Lucas, and not a single installment of the game has seen a worldwide release! Pokémon and Fire Emblem both have Newcomers; in fact, the only franchises that don't seem to be getting additions are those that have nothing else to draw on (Ice Climber), Newcomer series (Kid Icarus, WarioWare) and 3rd Parties. So why the hell do I feel like F-Zero's still gonna be running the Captain Falcon gauntlet?
I'm still convinced Sakurai just doesn't like F-Zero as much as the others. Goroh should have been playable; with all of the above franchises getting enhanced somehow, and with Goroh being combat-ready and important to the franchise and having been around since the first game, there's no excuse to make him an Assist Trophy. He had the friggin sword and his own style of using it even--his assist trophy alone has differentiated him from every other swordsman in any SSB game ever. Even Link, whose just got "generic sword-style" type gameplay isn't as reckless as Goroh would be. And Goroh had a thing with that! What does any other F-Zero character have? Not much. Jodi Summer and John Tanaka have police training, but we never see them in action. Blood Falcon is just an alternate costume. Black Shadow...honestly, he hasn't done anything. Just been there and antagonized Falcon from the safety of outside the Blue Falcon. Which sucks because he's really the next most likely after Goroh. Maybe Pico, who's an assassin. Dr. Stewart is out of the question, but Mighty Gazelle could stand a chance. And aside from that, any character that is shown having some unique skill (Daigoroh, Spade, Beastman, Billy, BioRex, Zoda, Super Arrow) just isn't important enough to register. It'd be like saying Birdo should be in Brawl. Sure, she can do shit, but she's not relevant to the franchise.
Sorry, I'm pretty skeeved about this whole thing right now. -_- When Ice Climbers have two good updates over F-Zero's one shit update, it makes me feel cranky. The whole F-Zero franchise is getting overlooked in favor of some Famicom/Disk System/whatever game that hasn't seen an update since the original release. There is so much potential within the realms of the F-Zero universe that Sakurai is leaving untapped and I'm afraid I've got my panties in a bunch over it.
Pardon my rant. -_-

The thing you forget Tei is that many of those characters shown were wanted from the start. Diddy, Dedede, Ike, and Lucas all had a fanbase going for them (all though Lucas's was a bit smaller). None of the F-Zero characters were really wanted. I'm not even sure Goroh was on the poll.
You right, Sakurai is ignoring the franchise, but this is because no one really wanted much more. The franchise may have lost popularity along the way. Gohor was on the Melee poll, but not the Brawl one (at most, a 1). While it's strange that we still don't have Capt. Falcon, it's not too much of a surprise we don't have anyone else. The most popular characters for Japan are/were Dedede, Diddy, Ike, Ridley, and Geno. The US is Diddy, Ridley, Krystal, Wolf, and Dedede. Most of those (besides maybe Wolf and possibly Geno) are making it. EWven in the US, Gohor was never hugly popular.
This game is fanserves. Sakurai is doing that. The man can't be blamed for not adding a characters that not everyone wanted. Gohor would have been a goodd character, but so would Little Mac, and Punch-Out sold more then F-Zero.

I understand where you're coming from, TEi. I love the Ice Climber stage...yet I want to play it as Capt. Falcon! XD The F-Zero stages were among my favorites in Melee. I really hope that Sakurai is not intentionally ignoring F-Zero. I have a hunch there is some awesome stuff waiting in the wings. I could be wrong...but I really think there's a cool stage and (hopefully) a new character on the horizon...

I could be wrong...but I really think there's a cool stage and (hopefully) a new character on the horizon... That thing being Falcon, and those wings being the Falcon Flyer. But I agree. We had a slew of double updates until this delay. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the Friday and Monday updates were suppose to be together. I think we'll be please.

Falcon isn't new! Reading TEi's ideas for a F-Zero stage were way better than mine (which was Green Plant in F-Zero GX...the tunnels would counter Star KO's, and it'd work like Big Blue, minus the Falcon Flyer). Meteors and lightning are both better than tunnels. ^_^

Well, to me, Goroh takes a higher presedence over guys like Ike and Lucas and Pokémon Trainer and Diddy. He seems more important than them. A one-time protagonist in a series that has only had Marth as the main character multiple times, the star of an obscure Japan-only RPG which hasn't had a single title released worldwide, a mute, characterless protagonist who doesn't even fight on his own, and a chimp who has spawned from and is representative to the blandest platforming games ever...Goroh had them all beat. He might not have been the star of F-Zero, but he was one of the original four racers, he's been in all three of the main games and two of the shitty GBA games, he had personality and almost all of the games to feature him have been released worldwide with the exception of F-Zero Climax. Which isn't to say I don't dislike how most of those characters are included (I could have done without Diddy), just that F-Zero is more remarkable than anyone gives it credit for. Including, apparently, Sakurai. -_-
But that's just me and my fantasy world. After all, F-Zero only has three real games if you exclude those shitty non-canon GBA ones. -_-
...then again, Mother only has three real games too--and no shitty spinoffs! WTF, Sakurai!

The thing about F-Zero, is that there is hardly a difference between each character. C. Falcon is, and should be, the only F-Zero character represented. Otherwise Sakurai would have to make up new moves for other characters (Could you imagine Gorghgohro Punch?).
Sure Gorghoroh's got a Samurai Sword, but since he's an Assist Trophy, maybe that means Takamaru's playable!

Marth and Roy had the same type of sword. Link and Young Link had the same type of sword too. Goroh could have worked, and the fact that he got passed by really pisses me off. He deserved that shot.

Ike isn't just a one-time protagonist. He's a major character in the new FE, Radiant Dawn.
You know who would be a cool F-Zero playable, though? Pico. He's got a unique look, has a history as an assassin and skill with guns to draw from, and is a total badass. He's had next to zero demand to be playable, but we know that Sakurai tends to lean less towards demand and more towards potential.
But to be honest, F-Zero just isn''t that important of a franchise, particularly not in recent years, and especially not in Japan. Sure, the Mother series has even less games to its name than F-Zero does, but it is also HUGE in Japan, plus Sakurai has been involved throughout the series so there's going to be some bias. And on top of that, putting a new F-Zero character in Brawl more or less means designing another moveset from scratch, which is something that Sakurai hasn't done, at least not to that extent, since Fox and Falcon's debut in SSB64. Maybe, for some reason, the development team feels that the series is at a point where they can't really do that anymore. Who really knows.
In any case, even if Captain Falcon's the only character in his franchise again, I'm sure we'll still see some kickass stages.

Unless F-Zero is unlockable. Then we'll get dick shit in comparison to everything else.

Wow TEi you really love your F-zero, huh?
Thing is what would Samurai Goroh do anyway, if he were playable? Yeah they pulled B moves out of their asses for Captain Falcon too, but I don't see how they can make some fat runt with a samurai blade interesting. Goroh's pretty much the goofy bad guy who losses to Captain Falcon the whole time anyway. If they're picking a second one, which I doubt, they'll go for Black Shadow and then everybody I play with will call him Batman.
Also be happy Goroh's an AT, atleast he'll show up on the battlefield from time to time. I doubt Marx will (I like that guy).

I expect there will be more F-Zero stuff. I'm not even expecting Falcon to be unlockable, I'm just expecting him to show up later to spread out the updates. After all, he was apparently Sakurai's favourite character in SSB64.
