Duck Hunt Dog doesn't need to have a name... nor a backstory... nor prior fighting experience... nor be a "mysterious action fighter" in his spare time... nor make sense... and he got in over a hundred other "more suitable" candidates who are now Assist Trophies.

I even called it... the dog and duck team would be the Banjo-Kazooie of Smash... and people said it wouldn't make sense because it had nothing to do with Duck Hunt. Haha, oh the irony. I'm completely vindicated and I no longer need to defend my Duck Hunt Dog.

Even with the roster leak I was all 'man, how the heck would he work?' Reading about fighting with ducks and all I could think of was him shooting duck missles and slamming people with ducks, animal abuse style.

But he's in, together with those lightgun references you were hoping for. And IT. IS. GLORIOUS!! Also I really like he's big pals with the duck. Nintendo's Milo and Otis! Except a duck.

So yes, congratulations for keeping that faith, Arcadenic! And who knows, maybe next time Meowth'll finally make a playable appearance too

Never saw that coming. When I saw the Dog Hunt... Duck Hunt leak, I thought they'd be given a generic moveset. It turned out far better than that. Definitely liking all those Hogan's Alley and Wild Gunman moves.

Oh, and in a way, that duck has seniority over TV Game 15. Also, the most evil Nintendo villain now joins Smash.
