Hey, you know, this update kinda reminds me of Yoshi's Island and Donkey Kong Country 2. Yoshi in that "Poochy Ain't Stupid" level and Diddy Kong in Crocodile Cauldron. Wario, maybe, a reference to Stove Canyon in Super Mario Land 3?

The shelter is an interesting idea. With that, chances are that someone's going to get left outside.

Yeah, sounds like it was inspired by the Musical Chairs game.

Seems like a pretty small level...I doubt I'll play on it much.

Haha, I was expecting this. It's a good thing we got it here. And watch my screenshot theory spring into action as Captain Falcon will be guaranteed to show up next week with one screenshot of him here. ;D

Looks good, looks good. We need a Metroid stage that is both: Not on Zebes and not underground! Seriously Sakurai. I heard that some company named Retro has put out three excellent titles since Melee came out. Maybe you should check them out.

Does this rule out a Bowser's castle stage? I think so, since it would be pointless to have two stages surrounded by molten lava.
So, I'm thinking Bowser's stage will maybe be on of the Doomships from SMB3.

Music for this includes Samus' Mission. Heard in an IGN video. I can't wait.
I love the blue door thing still.

I heard that some company named Retro has put out three excellent titles since Melee came out. Maybe you should check them out. Again: Phendrana Drifts would be perfect for a Metroid Prime stage. ;D Sheegoths alone would make a great hazard, but there's a lot of awesome terrain you could fight on as well.Does this rule out a Bowser's castle stage? I think so, since it would be pointless to have two stages surrounded by molten lava. So, I'm thinking Bowser's stage will maybe be on of the Doomships from SMB3. An Airship stage is always possible--I'd love to hear an SSBB remix of the Airship theme--but I personally think Bowser's Castle needs some love. It can have lava without the lava really being a hazard, you know? Like in the background or something.
Anyway, I like this update because it's the first time we've had a clear look at the stage. Fitting to a Metroid game, Norfair is actually really dark--it's very cool. The screens here have made me want to play the level more than any of the movies have.
While I appreciate Sakurai trying to mix it up with the "rising lava/acid" hazard by making it come from different places on the screen, I second Masamune. Give us something new! Metroid has...*counts*...at least three different space stations and ten different planets to choose from, the majority of which come from Metroid Prime 3. Come on, Sakky...don't ignore the Primes. They were a great trilogy, even if Japan didn't care much for them.

What if Crocomire comes out of the lava?

I have no idea who Crocomire is... but Blargg would be a great hazard for a Bowser Castle stage.

I have no idea who Crocomire is... but Blargg would be a great hazard for a Bowser Castle stage. Somehow, I knew someone would say that. He's that dragon thing halfway through Super Metroid that you push back into the lava with missiles. And yes, Blargg would be sweet in a Bowser stage.

But... Blargg's never appeared in Bowser's Castle. He's only appeared in underground caves. It is possible to make a Bowser stage without lava though.... like, maybe base it off the Bowser stages from Mario 64?

Bowser had better get a stage...because no matter what they choose (classic castle/fortress, Airship, SM64 stage) it would kick ass.
And I remember Crocomire! He would be cool, but I think the lava waves are enough hazards for this stage.
