You don't see them often because 1) Most people play with items off 2) Jigglypuff's sing never works 3) Mewtwo's disable never works and people's sheilds never break. ALL OF THESE THINGS (except the shields thing) ARE LIES!! Oh come on! You NEVER see Jigglypuff players use sing because it NEVER works. Characters usually wake up before your recovery time is over.... even at high percentages.... it only works if they're standing.... and Melee was a very "jumpy" game... and it has massive startup time too... so people never even jumped into it. You couldn't use it to punish people because it took so long to connect... it's a HORRIBLE move and it never works! So I hardly ever got to see characters sleeping animations.

In fact, Sing and Rollout are the only two of Jigglypuff's specials that I find effective enough to use often.

I'm going to side with Rygar here. The effect of sleep doesn't last long enough. They'll normally be out of sleep by the time you finish and your better off trying to hit them normally.
How exactly do you use it Kirbychu. This may shed some light on the situation.

I use it the... normal way. What, is there more than one way to press up and B?
It lasts plenty of time. I've never had anybody wake up before I'm done using it... I generally use it to set up Rest kills.

I use it the... normal way. What, is there more than one way to press up and B? No, from the air landing near the foe, run up at them, counter then when they run at you. The problem with it is that you can wake up faster by moving the controller stick around. With rest, it's not hard to get out of.

Sing works best for me when I start it in midair and land on somebody. If I time it right Jigglypuff finishes the move shortly after she lands, meaning you actually gain time to take advantage of your opponent while they sleep.
Anyway, starting in midair removes the lag, and since your enemy is prone, you can hop back up in the air and Rest them more easily. It's a sick combination if you have trouble with Sing alone. It's also more effective than just using it on the ground and hoping somebody runs into you.
What you need to keep in mind about Jigglypuff is that she's most at home in the air; a lot of her moves are more effective there, so long as you're careful with Rollout. More than once, I've used it overzealously and careened to my death. XD

No, from the air landing near the foe, run up at them, counter then when they run at you. Oh, okay. The first one, then. Both the others are plain stupid. TEi pretty much just described what I generally do perfectly, so I don't really need to add to it.

Well, Sleep From Above™ is really the only effective way to use Sing. Doing it on the ground at all just leaves Jigglypuff vulnerable for too long. XD

I might have to try that next time I play Jigglypuff. Of course, I use to be really good at resting people. Then they stopped sucking.

Haha...I used to love playing as Jiggly when fighting friends. They were so clueless, laughing and saying that she was one of the weakest players...then I used Rest on them, and they were all "HOLY GOD WTF!!"
Good times...

Sing is best used (according to me anyway), in team matches. One player (as Jiggly) sends an opponent to sleep, the other player on jiggly's team uses their Falcon/Warlock/Giant Punch/Powerful move against the sleeping foe. You can't beat a bit of good ol' double teaming. ;D Just don't expect the computer to play ball if its on your side, though.

You ALWAYS should use Sing while falling on a group of people. It's the best way to use it. Follow it up with a Rollout or a Rest. Or, if you're feeling especially deviant, use JPuff's "Wall of Pain" and just combo aerials until the person is so far off the edge they can't get back ;p

That's not a bad way to use it Sqrt. But, I don't play teams often.
