Look, we now have a direct comparison between Melee's and Brawl's graphics. ;D

Feck!!!
I hated Temple! It was my second-least-favorite stage after Icicle Mountain and it had crap music. X( (the remix in today's update ain't so bad, but I always look forward to hearing new, Brawl-exclusive tunes...I hate it when we're basically given an updated version of something that was in the first two games.) As long as Melee stages make up about 10% or less of the total number of stages (SSB64 could make up another 10%, I wouldn't mind those...I like most of the 64 courses more anyway) I guess I don't really mind. Any more than that is just over the top. There's no excuse for there to be multiple courses per franchise if the second course and beyond for said franchise dips into past stages for filler.
I don't know about any of the rest of you, but I really saw Returning Stages making a come-back here, so this update does nothing but piss me off. Why not Big Blue or Flat Zone or Saffron City or some other friggin' good course? X(

I tend to pick the stage based on the character I'm using. I like to have the home team advantage, you know? In any case, the Temple looks good and the remix is pretty awesome.

Tei the Spiffy: I loved the music in Temple, it had a classical tone to it. Also, I love this update. Sucks they only showed one stage.

You know... Brawl is beginning to look more and more like how Melee was supposed to be, had Sakurai had more time to do it.
Most of the most-voted characters from the Melee poll are newcomers (Meta Knight, King Dedede, Wario, Pokemon Trainer, Diddy Kong) along with less-voted characters (Pit, Squirtle).
Lucas replaced Ness, just as it was originally intended in Melee. And no more clones such as Roy who is seemingly decloned and reincarnated as Ike in Brawl. Pichu is out because Pikachu got Pichu's lighter color tone and blue goggles. Not to mention Kojima finally got his wish with Snake being in the game. And Sonic is in the game just because.
And now we got some Melee stages in Brawl. Its like Brawl is how Melee would have been if Sakurai had more time to do the game. So I think its pretty good.

Oh yeah. The remix is super-awesome too! Updating the old remix with another Zelda II tune! ;D

I would like to see every possible Melee (and 64) stage return. And I don't see why its a bad thing if they did. The more content the better. Bring it on.

No, I want less old stages. I never said wanting less stages overall. My concern is that we will receive less new levels in favor of recycling the old ones. And I've spent the last six years playing Melee's levels and I'm just a mite tired of them--especially the overplayed ones that seem to crop up more frequently than the others when you use Random Select (like the Temple).
Anyway, now that I've had time to calm down and wake up, I can at least appreciate the effort being put into this level...rather than outright porting them, Sakurai and the team're rebuilding them from scratch. Kudos to the man for that, even if I don't agree with the stage choice (Temple will be shut off on my Random Stage Select this time around, and I'll be forcing my friends to do the same whenever I'm at their places).
To me, this just seems like a wasted choice...we already have New Pork City, which looks more fun and intricate without being such an asshole course. I'd rather have had Sector Z if it came to a returning Sprawler level, since that at least is based on a specific area. Even if it a Ride-the-Great Fox level. Which we absolutely don't need, but we need it less than we needed the Temple. In my opinion.

I liked the Temple myself, so I'm glad to see it come back. I don't mind Melee Stages coming back - some of them were a ton of fun to play on, so I am happy to see some of them making a return. I hope that half the stage roster isn't Melee stages, but a few is fine.

Surely bringing and old stage over is a hell of a lot less effort than making a new one - hell, it looks to me like its very little effort at all, since if I'm not mistaken Brawl is using the Melee engine as a base, surely the course could be brought over simply. If it was 1 for 1 then sure, give us new content, but I doubt it is. Also New Pork City isn't all that like Temple, really. Just because they are both big doesn't make them that similar.

Well, let me say it this way: I want to play Brawl without even a lingering sensation of experiencing "Super Smash Bros. Melee Plus a Few Other Things." If we have mas many or more Returning stages than we do new ones, that'd leave me feeling...well, not upset, but I'd be really jaded.

I kinda dislike the Temple, too. I never was a fan of it, aside from its music which came from a classic game.
I thought at least one of you guys would agree with me that any stage at Big Blue or Mute City would need an upgrade to match their newer looks.

You know... Brawl is beginning to look more and more like how Melee was supposed to be, had Sakurai had more time to do it. Which always makes me wonder. If Melee had those few extra months, how much better would it have been. It was an amazing gamwe, but suffered a lot for launchidious. Melee would have had 2 more original characters, and probably more courses. But in the same vein, I think the clones helped. It did beef up the roster, but in a good way. Now people had 6 more characters to play with rather then 2. And in the end, no one cared that much. It also gave us Falco, who probably wouldn't have made it without that and some crazy ones like Dr. Mario. Also Tei, I hate Temple as well. But, in the end, it's still a great update. Lots of people loved this course, and it's nice to see a loved course from Melee back, rather then the courses from 64, which were some of the lesser courses from that game (save for Yoshi's Story).

*Gets home, turns volume up* Ah yes. That music is so awesome it gives me the shivers. The bridge is perfect. Can't wait!
I'm surprised so many of you don't like the Temple stage. For me it was the perfect one for long, drawn out battles of skill, rather than edge guarding and other cheap moves my brother was a fan of using. Plus, it was perfect for getting all of those Meteor Smash bonuses ;D

Aside from the N64 Dreamland stage, I liked all the stages in SSB64 at the time. Now I'm not such a great fan of Sector Z either, but again, I'd rather have that than Temple. *shrug*
