What I'd like to know is why they had to cut all this stuff even though they kept delaying the game anyway, especially if it was all in there in some form at some point. You think they had to sacrifice it for the online? My answer: Look at how big this game already is! Something had to be cut, sadly. Yoshi Cookies will be missed. Yeah, but I would rather he axe other things in lieu of this. I mean, music can be enjoyed for ages. Once I use Rotation or Challenge Mode once, I'm done with them. I could have done without a few Melee stages as well. Yet another example of why we must know what the hell they delayed the game so long for. Oy... It'll be fantastic, but what a kick in the nads.

According to posters on Smashboards, the file they are in is (IRC) 98.8 MBs. So they might be playable. The music, at least. I'm guessing thats bigger than if they were just partial data, right?

The only reason to take it out of the game would be space issues, but if it's still on the disk, why remove it?

Okay, so, I've been listening to the NES Medley track a lot over the past few days; It's pretty catchy for a direct-port medley, but I don't know a majority of the music included in it. D: (That sort of thing is understandable, I hope, because my parents didn't let me have consoles until the N64). I recognize the SMB3 Hammer Bros. theme at the start (at least, I'm pretty sure that's what it is) and the Duck Hunt theme, but the rest are pretty much foreign to me. Does anyone mind laying out the medley's songs in order? I'm more than a little curious to find out what they are and would appreciate the help.

I'll give it a shot
SMB3 - Vs Battle Start Wrecking Crew - Bonus Round Excite Bike - Title Theme Punch Out! - New Password Soccer - Gameplay Theme Devil World - Title Theme Punch Out! - ...continueation of that New Password tune Joy Mech Fight - Select your Fighter Duck Hunt - Title Theme Dk. Jr. - Title Theme **No Clue*** (but I heard somewhere it was from that Japan-only detective what's her name game) Urban Champion - Victory
I didn't need to look up any of this, I think I'll make a post in that 'You know you're an uber-nerd when' thread now.

The Punch Out!! second one is Training With Doc (or that OTHER name if you want to go there) and the Japan only one is the Title Theme from Famicom Tantei Club.
EDIT: Did they rip the hidden songs yet? I REALLY want to hear them!

Speaking of which, is there any way we can see whatever content they did find, Flip? For example, the model and animations you said Mewtwo had left in the game.

Basically they found the files, but can't remove them. When programmers leave stuff in a game they stop linking to it in their programming and eventually its too far embedded to remove. I think with the soundtrack we have it was simple because it was there at the surface, but the cut tracks were not readily available. Basically "look but don't touch." The images were the same way. Hackers have been able to rip everything else, even text and video, from the game. The cut tracks and Mewtwo images are the only things nobody can glean from the game--though they all can SEE them.

the Japan only one is the Title Theme from Famicom Tantei Club. Actually, it's from Famicom Tantei Club Part II. I recognised it as the title from one of them, and so I went and checked my NSF files That's cool though... the only one I was struggling to remember was Joy Mecha Fight, even though I definitely recognised it from somewhere.
