Then couldn't E. Gadd use his time machine to bring Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong from the future? I'm not sure I follow you. Why would he want to, and better yet, why ask?  You were referring to Baby Mario and the other babies in the Mario sports games, right? |

Would you believe that I once tried to group the Mario games into DC-styled universes based on recurring themes? I had the original Mario trilogy in one universe, while the newer Mario games were in another universe. I based it off of how the enemies look, the geography and whether or not certain things appear (really, how else would you explain Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings?). I never managed to fully work it out.

Bowser has 8 children. For whatever reason, Bowser Jr, was absent during the SMB3 / SMW / M&L-SS events, and the other Koopalings were absent in the events of SMS, NSMB, SMG, and if you count them, all the sports games. Seriously, why the fuck do you need alternate universes to explain that? |
