Thats the sprite I was going off of for Shiny Ivysaur. When I did my guide, I thought the bulb looked golden, but looking at TEi's picture of him (Thanks a lot! The pictures are quite helpfull!), it does look more like Bulbasaur. While I'm at this, the other sprites I've used for Pokemon: Note how the former looks like it has a white shell, while the latter clearly has a blue shell. The most convincing of the Gameboy Pokemon colors. I've got Shiny Squirtle, bTW. Can you confirm the Pokemon Stadium nicknames? I have no way to do so, although I do trust you Flip Thanks for help with these. Pokemon are confusing to do this to. I'll check the Warios. I've got the GB Wario, BTW. Hm... I thought I'd seen a darker Zamus. I'll check darker blue Zamus. Pretty sure this counts, because I remembered seeing her in MP3. Black bikini Samus is failry convincing, BTW. Not sure if I'll add it tho. Darknut Link is probably a coincidence, but I think he's something. Ganondorf's OoT is one I've heard repeted several times now. I'll check out the cape. Only reason he isn't listed now is the colors don't quite synch up, but if the cape changes I'll mos def add him. Sorry, just not convinced of Olimar's President alt, although I haven't seen his son since I played Pikmin 2 since it came out. I'll look into it. Wasn't Wolf designed with a black costume in 64? I've no idea what he was in Assualt or Command tho. I've got brighter blue Falcon listed under F-Zero X Falcon. Thanks for reading. I'm just not convinced of Noddy at all. It's just a sleep cap to me. White Marth is Leaf, tho? Also, I think the Anime had more input by Nintendo, didn't it? Not to mention either his Melee or Brawl design is his anime design. I'll freely admit I know jack about Fire Emblem however. Thanks a bunch Flip! Awesome as usual.

Ok, I know that the Bowser one was from SSBM to start with, just thought it was fun to point it out... Anyways, I noticed that Meta-Knights final costume, yeah, the Purple one with a multi coloured cape, may be based on Marx! I think so, because the collar on his cape look's like a jesters, and the cape itself goes in different tones that matches some of Marx's wing colours, not forgeting that the trim on the wings, becomes yellow, like Marx's wings, and Marx theme being in is also quite possible...

No, it's a reference to Kirby in a sleep hat, as Jpuff has the green hat.

Is Blue Zelda based off SNES Zelda? She did wear a blue dress in ALTTP.

That makes me happy if that's the case! I can get a pic of the cape later today. It's a busy one, so it'll take some time. Also, the nicks were random because Pokemon had multiple color schemes. For example, you had Voltorb in red/white, purple/white, dark red/white, and yellow/white all depending on the order of letters or something. It was a crapshoot what you got, but I remember being really happy to see my Blastoise had an olive green shell and pale skin making him unique. Lemme do some research.

It seems everyone knows that yellow diddy is from DKC, but doesn't Purple Diddy's costume look like the 2P mode costume from DKC2?

rukifellth: Wow! Marx Meta Knight is plausible: I can see it. Might be coincidental, might not be. Great catch! TV Eye: See, thats far more convinving than Noddy. Perhaps I'll add it. Arcadenik: Her Melee blue dress may have been, but her Brawl blue dress is to dark to be based on official art. I'll check sprites as I just thought of that. Flip: Thanks for the explanation of Pokemon Stadium nick name colors. However, since they were random, that might be all encompossing and as such, unfair to add them. Savage Adam: I've no idea. I don't have DKC2, so I can't check that. Can you or someone else? Once again, thanks to everyone!~

Bacchant? Pretty sure you mean Bacchus. I think he just means pertaining to Bacchus, like those women who worshiped him.

Aight, 'cause I love you guys, I'm working on pictures of every alternate color in the game; this way, in case we determine one of them is a cameo when we previously didn't think otherwise, I don't have to go back and nab it all over again. All I have left are Wolf (who's a hard mofo 'cause of his stance - I have to time his juking just right to get a decent shot) and ZSS (who I totally forgot about). Gimme a couple more hours and they should all be ready.
And no problem, The Qu - I'm glad I could provide some assistance.

Try Wolf's side taunt, where he exclaims "What's the problem, scared?", as I think thats the only position he stands up straight without something obscuring him. Granted, he does stand on one foot, but thats pretty much beside the point.

That's always an option I suppose, but for Fry's pictures I'm supposed to do a "regular standing pose." I'll dick around and see what I can find, since I've got a couple pictures where you can see him kind of clearly just from idle animations.
Sorry for the double post (new and old will be merged on next reply), but I have the complete set of alternate colorschemes up and posted for you all to enjoy. It's kind of a big file, so dialup users download at your own discretion. XD Some old pictures have been retaken 'cause you could spot bits of other characters in the corners (due to Brawl's picture functions capturing a wider range than what you can actually see on your TV screen, apparently), but even then it's for the most part new content as I hadn't bothered with some of these characters before.
The only guys you won't see in the link are the Ice Climbers because they suffer from some wicked bad clipping issues; I've spoken with Fry and he agrees that, since Popo and Nana never wear more than blue and pink anyway, there oughtn't be any cameos in their alt colors. That was a sanity-saving measure more than anything else.
Anyway, enjoy!

The Ice Climbers were a bloody nightmare in Melee as well.
I'm going to try and accumulate some delicious screenshots of the ORIGINS of these alternate colours as well from various games. Something I never did with the old titles.

Anyway, enjoy! But their costumes are so cute this time around! Anyfart, the Pokemon Stadium stuff may be a bit too random to really be a reference but you never know. There were only like... four possible colors, and Pikachu definitely had his Smash Bros. colors in Stadium (reddish, greenish, blueish tints). Of course, I have no place to really go and like... get screenshots

Something I never did with the old titles. Hey Fry, I can help with NES and SNES screens. I've already got screens of Fire Luigi circa SMB3, Wrecking Crew Luigi, Foreman Spike and Player 2 DK & Diddy. One bit of advice, however: For some, like Mario Bros. Mario & Luigi and Blood Falcon, you might want to use official art instead of screenshots. Come to think of it, that would be the only way to show F-Zero X Falcon. If you count Morton Koopa Jr., I think you'll want to use art instead of screenshots as well. Shows the shell better.
