Aye, it was from Wikipedia. And I figured there were a few errors/omissions from G-Mode's site, too. So, if I'm following you correctly, Parrot, G-Mode owns the Technos titles Road Avenger and Cobra Command (why did you have to make TWO games with this title, Data East?), and might own Cliffhanger and Night Slashers, as well. Ring King is one I forgot to mention - I'd have to guess that Namco Bandai has the rights.
I also forgot to throw out Irem's titles that Data East published, including Kid Niki, Kung Fu Master and Vigilante. Would those have a chance to be included as well?
(I'm beginning to think that a proper thread may be in order...)

Sega announces Project Needlemouse, and it's... ... a 2D Sonic game in HD. I suppose by default that counts out the Wii as a potential platform. The game is due out in 2010.

I have nothing to say on the matter until further notice.

I was hoping they'd do something like that ever since the whole Wiiware/XBLA thing took off. Too bad it probably ain't coming to the Wii.

Could be good. Could just be Sonic 1 again, but in HD. In concept, I mean. If that's the case, I'm not interested. Though I'm sure every other Sonic fan on the planet will declare it the best game ever, since that seems to be exactly what they want.

As opposed to you, who'd rather have more running in a straight line with QTEs and Werehogs and swordplay and human princesses and guns and "edgy" counterparts. Pah....

Oh, god forbid I enjoy a game I bought. There's nothing that pisses me off more than the holier-than-thou fanboys telling me off for enjoying any Sonic game that wasn't on the Genesis. Okay. I get it. You just want them to remake the same game every year and pretend it's new. That's great. Y'know what'd be just as productive, though? Every year, you could go trade in Sonic 3, then buy it back and pretend it's new! You'd never know the difference! Score!

No I want them to make a game that doesn't SUCK.
There's a simple reason those so-called fanboys prefer the older Sonic games to the newer ones.
They were GOOD. These new ones are NOT good.
Understand?
THAT's where the mentality comes from. The sheer crappyness of these newer games is what causes them to equate GOOD with the older Sonic games.

And YOU need to understand that it is your opinion that those games sucked, and my opinion that they are of roughly the same quality as the Genesis games. Whether that's good or bad is subjective, but the general fan reaction is "THIS FEATURE DID NOT EXIST IN 1994, THEREFORE IT MAKES THE GAME SHITTY." Which is the only example of a completely wrong opinion.
Sonic Unleashed's daytime levels were a very faithful and accurate translation of early Sonic game stages into modern gaming. People say things like "Sonic isn't about speed!" of course it fucking is. Every major Sonic game ever made was designed specifically to push the hardware to its very limits in speed - the early ones could get so fast that you'd actually die because the stage ahead of you hadn't loaded. "Sonic shouldn't have humans! Eggman doesn't count! Sonic doesn't need edgy rivals! Knuckles doesn't count either!"
It's all ridiculous. In the end, the games sell, and millions DO enjoy them, and don't feel the need to post on the internet about it. Every fan acting like Sonic Team did them an injustice by not making a game specifically for them is just one more person who really needs to go outside and start spending time doing things they DO enjoy rather than going on forums to tell people what they aren't allowed to enjoy.

Settle down, guys. Just because someone mentions Sonic, it doesn't justify uncalled-for inflammatory comments. I realize that Sonic tends to bring out that kind of behavior around here, so I'd like to address it before it gets out of control.
Besides, the game has only just been announced! If you start fighting about it now, you'll have nothing to look forward to!

I'm not sure I have anything to look forward to with this one anyway. I'll reserve judgement until we actually SEE something from it, but this already reeks of Sonic Team making a game based on what the fans are asking for. The last time they did that we got Shadow the Hedgehog, which, in all fairness, DID contain everything the fans asked for. And that is why it was bad. Asking Sonic fans what should go into a game is like asking diseased rats what should go into a gourmet trifle.

1. Opinions can't be "wrong" 2. It's not the fact that they weren't made back in the 90s
It's that people expect games in a franchise to expand on their predecessors, not disregard them and replace them with something what most percieve as shallow, dull, unfair, frustrating, poorly designed, poorly programmed, and all-in-all unnecessary.
No they weren't. I don't recall being forced to hold foward the entire time in Sonic 1 and tap A to not die. I recall being able to stop and look around. I recall stages such as Marble Zone that required me to be patient and NOT speed ahead.
It's not that they're not about speed. It's that they're about MORE than just speed. They were about level design and pinball-esque mechanics among other things. When you take away everything BUT speed, you're left with a hollow shell of what can barely be called a "game", nevermind the fact that they always try to replace what they trimmed off with some other irrelevant gameplay entirely.
1. Humans tend to clash with what was once the established atmopshere of Sonic. How would you feel if the next Mario game had Mario wandering around an environment that resembled GTA?
2. It's not that Sonic shouldn't have a rival, it's that he shouldn't have 14 trillion of them piled on top of one another.
Sonic Team did the world an injustice by being allowed to produce nothing shovelware and get away with it. This is the same reason people complaing about all the shovelware on the Wii and the same reason Mario fans complain about Mario Party, except now there aren't any GOOD games being made in between.
And even if it does all boil down to opinion in the end, YOU'RE just as bad as the rest of them. You always act like you're somehow better than every other Sonic fan just because you're willing to accept any schlock that Sonic Team will throw at us and not be peeved in the slightest. It almost feels like you're trying too hard to appear different from all those other Sonic fans out there, whichever category they fall into.
Now tell me, who's the REAL fanboy around here?

Man-Frog, knock it off. I think the older Sonic games are generally better, myself, but I'm not going to say Kirbychu's opinion is wrong. If he likes the new games, then great for him. You don't have to go out of your way to try to belittle him. It's trolling, it's obnoxious, and it's uncalled for.

I didn't say he was wrong.
I did say he was unfair.
And how the hell am I trolling? I'm defending what I said while simultaneously voicing something that had been on my mind for a while. Kirb and I have gotten into way too many arguments on this subject for me to just stand here and act like nothing happened again.
