Ohhh snap! I didn't even know PAX was going on right now. Supposedly it's 70% remake and 30% new junk. Sounds good to me!
2D sprites are lookin' good. Gives me a bit of a Paper Mario vibe, but it might just be the 2D on 3D surroundings. Also love that they kept the mummy's death animation.
(Hope this does well and kicks off a short trend of remaking other Capcom/Disney games)

I wonder how Warren Spector feels about this.

Some ex-Wayforward developers have founded their own new studio called Yacht Club Games, and through Kickstarter they are trying to get funding for their first game . . . Shovel Knight. A 2d retro sidescroller game that ironically seems to have a gameplay mechanic inspired by the downward sword thrust of Zelda 2/Ducktales pogo stick jump. Coming to Wii U, 3DS and PC. (Nintendo game them a Wii U dev ket out good faith apparantly). (Currently at $71,598 out of 75,000 goal with two weeks left).

That new DuckTales game looks awesome! I never played the NES original games so this will be my first DuckTales game. Too bad Disney games won't be on Virtual Console. I hope Capcom/Disney make a new Magical Quest game. The SNES original game is my #1 favorite Mickey Mouse game.

According to OpRainfall, a game called Shadow of the Eternals will be officially announced on Monday, and is supposed to be a spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness. It will be funded via crowd funding, and will be developed by Precursor Games, made up of former Silicon Knights staff (including Denis Dyack). Under the circumstances, I'm pretty sure this is not an official sequel, and that Nintendo is not involved. And if the rumors about Silicon Knights were true, I wonder if this game is really just the leftovers from the actual Eternal Darkness 2 they were supposedly working on.

Knowing Dyack's history, he's just going to piss the money away and release a sub par game if any at all. Add in the fact that it is episode based, all signs tell me to stay the hell away.

I'm not aware if there's a discussion already going about this, but Sega has announced that the next three Sonic games will be Nintendo-exclusive, starting with the next major platformer, Sonic: The Lost World. Let me know if this has already been brought up elsewhere.

Namco has announced Pac-Man Museum, which is a collection of classic and modern Pac-Man games. I've wanted to see a comprehensive Pac-Man collection for years. The only confirmed title as of now is the arcade game Pac-Man: Battle Royle, which will be its first home console/PC port. I assume we'll see the original Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man, as well as the Championship Editions. I would take a guess it will also include Pac-Land, Pac-Mania and maybe Pac-Man Arrangement. Crossing my fingers for Pac-Man Jr, but I doubt it.

Does anyone know when the Xbox One E3 conference is supposed to be? I'd like some forewarning about the second coming of the Virtual Boy.
I mean, the implosion of Microsoft Game Studios.

That was yesterday. In fact, it was the first conference.

Really? I've heard barely anything about how it went.

Frankly, it was OK. There wasn't much terrible stuff, just games. Some looked good, some looked mediocre, none looked bad.
It was a low B, high C on a grade scale. Not what we were expecting.

So, they didn't bother trying to improve the image of the console itself? I was expecting them to at least go back on their word about the used games policy to save face.

Microsoft didn't say a word about the system's DRM. Not a peep. That's what made Sony's comments so effective. If Microsoft wasn't going to address the elephant in the room, then that left a big opening for Sony to shove it in their face. The beauty of it is that that's all Sony had to do, as their own policies for the PS4 are the same as that for the PS3. I think Microsoft arrogantly thought that people would be angry about the DRM at first, but that they would quickly soften up once they saw all the games they were showcasing. They assume gamers will have short memories. I think that's turned out to be true to some degree, but Sony's going to try to keep it on gamers' minds as long as possible. Sony will benefit by keeping gamers angry, and gamers are always ready to be angry. Gotta love these high stakes mind games!

That's honestly my favorite part of games as an industry: The competition!
I don't think there's anything else Microsoft can do, now that their biggest chance is up. Honestly, the only game I saw on the One that I was interested in was Mirror's Edge 2, and it's been brought to my attention that it'll be on the PS4 as well, anyways.
EDIT: I'm somewhat disappointed by Valve's absence. Do they really have nothing to show for their future plans?
