Not cutting. Just changing the storyline slightly to be less offensive.

There is no way to make the thing that Rainbow finds at Birdo's house any less ofensive. At least the Golfer is only rubbing his tummy. I think. I want to learn Japanese even more now!

Pretty sure he's rubbing his nuts there. While groaning.

Rattling his golf balls and complaining about Mii's replacing him in sporting games.

Upon further thought, other than Birdo's vibrator, there really isn't much that wouldn't fall under a T rating in the US. Tracy and Ossan's rubbings would fall under a slightly juvenile Suggestive Themes, or whatever the ESRB has now. Not all that much otherwise.
And its not like Nintendo hasn't released "mature" games before. Both Eternal Darkness and Geist were M rated. The video game equivalent of Shin Chan probably wouldn't be to big a leap for them.

Look, one of the main reasons we don't get Mother 3 is because they are cartoon characters with suggestive themes. Let me make it simpler: This game has as much of a chance as Mother 3.
Nintendo doesn't even notice they can just give it a higher rating, and avoid putting a giant T rating on the box to make it flop like Conker. Parents should be checking the ratings and they are to blame. Games are like movies and TV, I don't see South Park being threatened to be taken off the air or Family Guy, not any more.

South Park finds loopholes though. They realize that they can have words like sh it and cock uncensored if, say, someone with tourettes says it. Things like that. Still, there is a 15% chance this game will come to America. There's too many sexual references. Let's look at the chart...

Oh shush, the whole thing about Birdo can be covered up like in Super Mario RPG or Paper Mario by calling it Birdo's ???, and Mappo referencing Brawl's bio of her claiming that 'she is of indeterminate gender so how do we know she IS a woman?' and then you find Birdo's ??? and bring it to him, he's like "Yeah, that proves it." while the player needs the Brain Bleach for Nintendo invoking suggestive situations with BIRDO!

With vibrating in the pillow? Peach's /XXX was vague enough for you to have to figure out it was undergarments. Or at least that's what they apparently were meant to be. But there are no hints. Birdo's is a dead give-away. Watch the video, you don't see anything. It's easy to censor until you notice the vibrating is done as a CLUE and makes it obvious. I don't think Skip would want to edit their own game for American release, and you can't edit 3D graphics easily like EarthBound.

Cell phones vibrate. There's always a workaround that can completely defeat the original intention of the plotline.

Hmm... They could make it a cell phone and the evidence is on the phone rather the item itself.
But yeah that was the final straw. There's just WAY too many factors against it. One or two would do but man... This games got a million!
