Seems there doing what they did with Wario. Hardcore games pop up out of no where while casual games are given a long time for uhh... What reason? For people to forget about them over time, so when they are released, people will be like "Oh, hey. I remember that game from a couple years ago. Neat." Case in point, Wii Music. Who else here is excited for it!

Seems there doing what they did with Wario. Hardcore games pop up out of no where while casual games are given a long time for uhh... What reason? Advertising. This is where they can nab the main stream press. But even then, Wii Sports resort is looking about 10 months max. Wii Music at 5 months max. So, it's not that long, and much shorter then most companies.

^ I think this is Chibi Robo, but with Nintendo characters. Seriously. But does that make it worth it? Totally. Hey, Chibi Robo is great... I'm playing through it right now and I feel sorry for the game, it deserves more popularity. But this Captain Rainbow has a more Giftpia feel... maybe it's in the graphic style.

Or maybe it's because there are more focuses on humans and things that aren't toys?

The official japanese cover: The text at the right says: ” This is not really a game about a cool hero! If you want to know more, play it for yourself in a composed manner.” lol

But seriously? So far the only characters who the US would not know are Takamaru, a cool samurai, Hikari, another Japanese-esque character, and the hero of Famicom Golf, who I don't think the Japanese even know. Just dub him Captain Prism or Captain Spectum if you have to, but get this game out the door for the West, because I can bet that Captain Rainbow will sell big to the Super Smash Bros. crowd in Japan and will likely sell over million over there, and Nintendo will force it on NOA. Heck, it's essentially an RPG with minigames and classic Nintendo characters, how can it NOT sell?
Also, Captain Rainbow will so be a fighter for the next Smash Bros merely because of the fact Minmin Island would be the PERFECT arena for having cameos of Nintendo characters, and unlike Animal Crossing or Nintendogs, Captain Rainbow has a character who CAN fight.

It's chances are improved with a boxart like this. The name may still be off putting, but the cool boxart helps. It'll just need good captions and what not.
Also, I think the guy from Famicon Golf is the same from "Golf" here. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Some details on the game have appeared.
The Adventure Part :Communicate with the island’s inhabitants
-The inhabitants are Nintendo characters that didn’t make it to stardom
Mimin Island’s inhabitants are minor Nintendo characters that never quite made it to “star” status. They live on this island trying to make their wishes come true. Hikari (from Shin Onigashima), Birdo (from Super Mario USA), Mappo (from GiFTPiA), Takamaru (from Nazo no Murasamejou), Little Mac (from Punch-Out!!) and other Nintendo characters await you!
-Communicate with the inhabitants - Enjoy the island life
You can cater to their requests, or fish, or do what whatever you want. It’s all up to you. Don’t be surprised if you get some pretty demanding requests all of a sudden. You can go fishing or bug collecting or even help with somebody’s golf swing. Help people out and you may get Earth Crystals called Kirarin (Sparklies).
Captain Rainbow is a game that mixes action and adventure; it’s an action adventure game.
The Action Part: Fight for the wish-granting “Stars”
Collect lots of Kirarin (”Sparklies”) and a Star will fall from the sky. Thrilling action awaits as you carry the Star to the island’s altar while chasing a mysterious silhouette to claim the Star for yourself. Attack the Sihlouette, or dodge its attacks to stop it from stealing the Star. If the Sihlouette gets you, be prepared for some relentless button pushing to win the minigame.
-Will it be your own wish? Or someone else’s? “The Altar where wishes come true”
If you get the Star to the Altar, any one wish will be granted. Will it be your own or someone else’s wish? Make the ultimate choice.
Scenario A Grant an inhabitant’s wish The inhabitants that have their wishes granted will leave the island and it’s back to adventuring for you. Scenario B Grant your own wish You’ll get to be a popular super hero once again. But what about the rest of the Mimin dwellers?
Which will it be? You know what a true hero would do…
I like the idea of either giving a character a wish or yourself a wish and leave the island and island is "populated by characters who never got star status", makes me wonder how many more characters there could be.

Why do I get the feeling the point is to be the last one on the island?

In the same manner as with Birdo in the second trailer, here is the translation of Little Mac's lines in the third trailer: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZa9jbpilI0Thank you for you all your translation work, 23Makoto23!

It seems the main character is a reference to America. Here is his decription
"Coming from "The Land of the Free": Mameruka (possibly a pun on America), Nick's alter-ego is Captain Rainbow. Although not as popular as he used to be, Nick came to Minmin Island with the dream of restoring his popularity."
Hell, even Captain Rainbow looks like Captain America, and instead of a shield, he fights with a yo-yo.
