Aftre checking the OP, I don't think a single one of them, save ROB and Fry has explained that one, comes from an exclusivly American source. While I agree that some such as Blue Luigi are possible due to the extreme resemblence, I see his point as well. Because I'm very bored and the thread was bumped: The ones Fry has commented on but hasn't put up in the OP yet: Link:Link's red tunic was used as the Shield Spell in Melee's event Adventures of Link. KirbyThe Plasma Kirby stuff. In addition, Ice & Fire were tinted in KA to the best of the NES power. They're from KSS, but Adventure deserves a mention, IMO. Wolf:Wolf's red and white costume may be based on the color scheme of his Wolfen ship. Captain FalconThe Super Falcon or F-Zero X alt that's been beaten to death in this thread. Also, his standard is his GX colors. Word these however you want; I don't want to annoy anyone anymore with them. Pokemon TrainerThe lighter colored costumes of the Pokemon may be based on their original sprites when played in a Gameboy Color.Note that the trainer is not. Ike:It's been suggested that the blue & white costume is based on Sigurd, protagonist of Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu. In addition, Sigurd is reportedly Sakurai's favorite FE character and was Roy's name in Melee's debug due to him not being named at the time. SonicSonic's golden bracelets may be a reference to Silver the Hedgehog's armbands, without the Tron-esque piping. That's all of the ones you've commented on and said you'd add. I tried to keep most of them in a similar tone to how you write your entries. If I may ask you something, what did you think of the Boom-Boom suggestion from the last page? fryguy64.proboards27.com/index.cgi?board=ssb&action=display&thread=2943&page=10#62841

I still don't think the American SNES is out of the question for ROB. Certainly a nod for the American region is unusual but the similarity is uncanny and, in my opinion, there is no better theory at this time.
Gold ROB is definitely a famicom controller.

If Japanese developers know of the NES scheme, they know of the SNES scheme. This isn't an obscure game box from 1985, this is a system that ran from 1991 to 1996. Yeah, the colors were only on it in the US, but so were the grey ROB colors. I don't see how it's not listed either. But Fry has already talked at leanth about it, so no real use trying anymore.
Also, the Famicom controller was predominantly red and gold with black highlights. Construction ROB is gold and black. Not really enough to be definitely.

ROB exists in two colours - the Japanese Famicom red-and-cream colour scheme and the American grey-and-grey colour scheme. If you're trying to come up with multiple colours of a character, then that's all you have to go on with ROB.
Now everyone's deducing from that too much. Like gold ROB is definitely a Famicom controller (despite being gold and orange instead of red, black and gold) or that it's definitely the US SNES colour scheme (despite being vivid shades of pink, rather than muted shades of purple).
You'll notice in my original post (which will be carried across to the site itself) I have THREE categories - Definite, Discussions Ongoing and Unsolved (the latter category may also include debunked theories).
It'd be good if everyone stopped thinking in these blanket black-and-white terms and treat your suggestions the same way I treat mine: As being possible answers, and only opting for "definite" if there's no room for debate. If I come back at you and say "no" then you have to do a better job of convincing me. And I will try and do a better job of disproving it.

Actually, surprised none of Ike's colors seem to match his class as a Lord. Maybe the Sigurd colors if we stretch it but just the cape being blue.

One thing I wanted to mention concerning Kirby is that the Plasma Kirby in any and all of the Kirby games was never actually GREEN. I don't think Green became the color of that Kirby until... maybe Air Ride? However, the red/blue/green costumes were altered in Brawl to match the spraycan colors you can use in Amazing Mirror and Squeak Squad. Likewise, these are the colors (and I mean shoes as well) of the Kirbys in the Nightmare in Dreamland multiplayer crapola. EDIT: Just as well, I figure I should re-emphasize that I'm convinced the pink costume for Luigi is based on Wrecking Crew. DESPITE Sakurai not mentioning so on the original SSB64 website, it definitely popped at me when I downloaded WC for the VC recently. Luigi at the bottom...

Uh, both Mario and Luigi look to be wearing no shirts in those sprites. Just a pair of red / reddish-pink overalls and a red / reddish-pink hat. Doesn't really look like the pink and red combo of SSB Luigi.

Fry, since you asked if Olimar's NASA suit could be the Space Pop, here is art from the official Japanese SML2 site: Don't think so.

All I know is that in those sprites, they have the same coloured skin on his head as his shirt. Therefore I'm saying he's shirtless.

Kinda reminds me of the Wario Land instructions. He was shown with brown overalls and a flesh-colored shirt.

Ike could use Neutral, Enemy, and Partner unit colors. Oh and the blue camo for Snake looks like Snow Camo. Sad there isn't MGS2 camos.

Multicoloured Kirby Yep, I'm totally happy with this. Even if the colours have appeared before, the shoes are a definite tie to the alternate colours. So which ones are definitely Nightmare in Dreamland, and which ones are Kirby & The Amazing Mirror.
Pink Luigi I am actually fairly convinced of pink Luigi, but because it's off, I'll include it as a "possible".
White Olimar Yep, fair enough - thought there was more red on Mario's spacesuit. I'll stick with the "standard space suit" option.
