Okay, a few more:

Green Bowser:

A historical, in game precedent for a green skinned Bowswer, and Bowser's last alt seems to have dark green skin to me and a few other posters. His orange hair could also come from this, though I can't account for his shell color.

Black Bower:
The more I play as him, the more I'm convinced he's a Hammer Bros. as I mentioned earlier. His skin is more of a darker shade of Bowser's normal skin- just like a Hammer Bros, and a Koopa.

Boom Boom
Still convinced. Hey, I had two Bowser posts in a row. Why not go for three?

Red Peach:

Interestingly, the red dress looks like Peach's red alt. It looks more like it than Pauline does. Later in the game (Wario: Master of Disguise) Tiarasmisu takes Peach's form.

Blue Ganondorf:
Could it be a Ganon ref? In 4SA, Ganon has a purple cape;:

The blue on the armor could be from Ganon's skin, and the other color from Ganon's armor.

Red Ganondorf:
While I'm at it, could Red Ganondorf be Agahnim?

Red robes, red cape, red hair (Okay, it's part of his turban thing..)

Green Ganondorf:

Agahnim's in game sprite is green with brown hands. This could corresponding to green Ganondorf. Nope, I'm not convinced of this one either.

Is it possible one of Dedede's alts is based on colors he had in KDL1 when played with a GB Color? Or does he wear red still?

When playing the game with a GB Color, he is red and pink (like almost all enemies and Kirby himself).

I don't think Ganondorf would have an alt based on a newer Ganon because the alts are based on the ones from Melee, with some changes like Ganondorf's graying hair. Ganon has a red cape in LttP and Oracles, I believe, so the idea of a Ganon alt is (seemingly) unlikely.

He has a blue cape in Oracles as well. I think the only time he's had a red cape is in ALttP. I listed it because the blue led me to Ganon, and then to the purple cape. It may be worth noting that the back of the cape is blue as well. This shade of blue is new for Ganondorf, BTW. He had one in Melee with a different pallet.

I do stand by Agahnim Ganondorf. He's the only alt with a cape that matches the armor hue. I'm not as convinced of the green Ganondorf though.

I'm fully convinced of the Bowser alts in my post and the Tarorismu alt is just an odd coincidence.

Just to throw it out there, I was playing GB Donkey Kong the other day on my GBA, and the Mario sprite looked an awful lot like Mario's brown/black colors, thanks to the Super Game Boy effect. I don't have a picture offhand, but I'll see if I can find one.

Originally, Sonic was a lighter shade of blue. It never made it past the concept art because of Green Hill Zone's ocean background:

Could one of Sonic's alts (Silver or Emerald Armbands) be based off this?
To further it, Sonic's sprites have slowly darkened over the years:

That's a sprite from the first Sonic game. It looks more like the shade of the Silver alt.

And his red armband alt looks like his late Genesis era sprites:

Yes, they do look different to me.

It was a thought I had when playing Donkey Kong the other night, and I'd just thought I'd share and see what you thought. With the Super Game Boy tint, Mario's shirt/hat is a light brown/white, and his overalls are black/dark brown. So I thought it was a possibility.

Dude, I'm not even conviced of Samus. I thought I'd throw it in there after coming across it on one of the sites I got one of the DK94 pics from. Sonic, on the other hand, I thought would be worth looking into. It's a fact he's darkened over the years and some of his alts are just barely lighter than his standard

EDT: Y'know a thought just occured to me as I play through Wario Land: Perhaps sailor Wario is meant to be an homage to his game boy games? Now, I know it's been said it's his game boy colors, but what if the sailor aspect is meant to homage the pirates in his first game?

Secondly, I'm almost fully convinced it is his GB colors:


Dark clothes, white shirt and hat, and white shoes. For some reason, the white shoes is the biggest tip off to me.

Also, after a short Google image search, Fox's last alt does look like Assault's jacket. Not enough to say it's a cameo, and the pants don't match, but the beige jacket with the green sleeves is a match. This is probably where teh rumors began,

Well, Marios Black and white alt difer from his GB sprites in that his face and hands are of the same color in the GB sprite meanwhile they are different in his alt. Now Wario´s “Foreman Spike“ alt does have skin colored globes (just like his Mario Land 2 sprite) So if they wanted they could have done that reference clearer.

Also, his hat is white in the sprites, not black. I think it was black in Mario Land,though:

His clothes don't match up with his Mario Land sprite other than the hat, apperently.
Also, remember the Kiddy Kong theory from early in the thread? I just noticed Blue Diddy and Kiddy both have the same shade of fur.

Is there a slight resemblance, or am I just crazy? Think about it: Rob was basically the mascot of the NES at the very earliest of its life cycle. Diskun was the mascot of the Famicom Disk System. They're practically brothers!

SLight bump: In BS The Legend of Zelda (A Satelliview remake of the first Zelda) Zelda wore a green dress:
