You know, a list of games influenced by Smash Bros. would be interesting. Kirby games would top that list, especially with KSSU. Wait, I thought it was the other way around?

In between Wham Bam Jewel's new attacks (They're form Master Hand, who was inspired by Wham Bam Rock), Dedede's new hammer and the Halberd's redesign? Nope.

Oh, well I guess only the recent kirby games would be influence, whereas the old ones influnce.

Inspiration from all Smash games, I mean. Brawl is recent but Melee has some still counting and some that might have not been identified well enough. Like in DK Jungle Beat, Donkey's clap soundwave attack is from his smash attack in Melee.
Plus, those the Kirby models in Melee became canon models, and the Brawl models, a lot of those are legitimate game models edited or taken plain and simple from specific games. Good reason being such high-quality models for these characters actually existing now. Melee was the start of the 128 era.

I don't really think the Brawl models are the models being used in the actual games, though. They are inspired by, certainly, but the Mario Galaxy Mario is definitely not the same as the Brawl Mario. Maybe I'm confusing models with textures, but the Galaxy Mario is a bit less "rough around the edges" compared to the Brawl version. Just as well, Peach and Bowser are DEFINITELY different, and I think I can safely say the same for most of the characters from Brawl as a whole (esp. the ones who don't have Wii games yet ;p)

I see enough similarities for that to be a case for orange Luigi.

No, that Luigi you posted is yellow, and the "orange" Luigi still just looks like Mario...

Except that Brawl would have updated the color-scheme into something more modern. Plus, that shade of orange has a hell of alot of yellow in it, too much for me to write it off. Whether or not anime Luigi turned into orange Luigi, there is enough similarity for me to say "Hey, that's pretty interesting." Note that I only said it's a case for it, not necessarily that it was, in part or in whole, the source for orange Luigi. It's simply a case of "This MIGHT be it."
Also, apologies in advance if this post came off as stubborn and argumentative.

To Flip, I mean before Galaxy. Since nothing from Mario Galaxy was in Brawl, and Galaxy used advanced versions of the previous models, the Mario series models are basically a very detailed last-gen Mario model. Or even the MP8 models, I haven't seen them enough.
Obvious exceptions include Ike, since the model in Path of Radiance was very low-res as the game did not rely on close-ups enough to require detail....so maybe the Brawl model IS the same one? I'll have to compare later on. I've already done comparisons with Twilight Link, the Kirby characters, and the Marioverse/DKU characters.

An intersting, but probably wrong, theory from Starmen.net: Overalls Wario • Yellow hat: 1P • Red hat: 2P & Red Team (Mario colours) • Blue hat: 3P & Blue Team • Green hat: 4P & Green Team • Ash hat (old Wario colours: GB Super Mario Land 2) • White hat (old Wario colours: GBC Wario Land II) For reference of those last two, I direct you here for an old game boy shot from Wario Land (not Super Mario Land 2, but basically the same). www.nintendo.co.jp/n02/dmg/wja/page_2.htmlThe clue is that this is the one outfit that Wario has long sleeves. As soon as Wario began appearing in colour, his sleeves got shorter, as you’ll see by the Wario Land II shot here… www.nintendo.co.jp/n02/dmg/aw2j/index.htmlAnd another from the same poster, Violet: Resembles Lucas' purple shirt, no?

Todd turned Lucas is interesting. Shiny Squirtle and Ivysaur are believeable, but dude, seriously. Charizards are NEVER green. Shiny Charizard is black with red wings, and in GSC it was purple with green wings. That Charizard is just a green Charizard. At best I'm willing to say it's shiny Dragonite. It's the only green Pokemon with that basic body structure I can think of, and even then the wings are wrong (shiny Dragonites have purple wings, not green.) Also... Green Trainer. Seriously. Except for the hair, all of that is Brendan scheme. Due to the blue-and-yellow color scheme of the trainer's shirt on the blue team, I'm willing to call that a ref to Ketchum, though the hat's wrong. The Pokemon are still up for grabs, but Charizard MIGHT be regular Dragonite.

They do look pretty similar (shirt wise) but the shorts, hair and shoes don't match, Todd/Snap's bag is green and Lucas's alt shorts are green but that it. The only other vague connection I can think of that HAL laboratory made PS and SSB, SSBM and assisted with SSBB (but didn't fully work on). I want to see it be a reference but it doesn't look like it is.

Well, I'd let the shorts pass into "maybe" territory since there a more cartoony shade of green, which Todd's are.
On the other hand, the hair is comepletely wrong. Enough so to make it not a reference. Well, in all likelyhood.

This is more trivial (why from another media when it's not even the same game?), but after reading Violet's comparison, I looked at the original Todd and his shirt resembles Lucas' red costume tee. Although Lucas has clearly more blue on it.

I think its a coincidence. Those stripes do look trendy...
Anyway, as for Mario's model like mentioned before, I don't know if anyone noticed how small his arms are in Brawl, compared to other models.
