All Night Nippon Luigi had him wearing a blue cap- the only time in official art, to my knowledge, he wore a blue cap. Perhaps the blue Luigi is based off of this?

Well... no... because he wore green dungarees. Also worth noting that he wore that outfit on the boxart, and not in-game.

Yeah, I was just throwing that out there... You'd be surprised at the amount of times Luigi has worn blue... but never exactly like the costume. Like this for example: This is from a very obscure Mario anime released in China back in the late 80s. It wasn't a bootleg or anything either. A few more that I myself can't verify: I've heard that the Star Fox characters have alts based off of Assault's multiplayer. Anyone with that game wanna check that for the site? Sonic's green bracelets look like the Bounce Bracelet from SA2. I can't get a clear picture of that online, so I'm not 100% sure. Failing that, they may just be emerald, to represent teh Chaos Emeralds.

I DO remember Fox had green coat and red shoes just like assault in Melee, which ws most likely just a coincidence, but i don't know about Brawl.

I love Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach. Obscure but lovable. I thought it was Japanese, though. Cause it got enough notice by EAD to have the final fight used as a basis for the Bowser fights in SM64.

It is Japanese, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be put out in China, right?

Sonic's green bracelets look like the Bounce Bracelet from SA2. I can't get a clear picture of that online, so I'm not 100% sure. If I remember rightly, the Bounce Bracelet was made of metal with a triangular part coming down the back of the wrist with a green gem on it. So no, I don't think so.

How can something that was in Melee be from a game that came out many years after Melee?

In the future, a Nintendo executive travels back in time to 2000 to give Sakurai StarFox Assault. This causes an alternate timeline, which we now live in, to split off, in which Melee carries a cameo alternate costume of a game yet to come.
Or maybe Fox's Assault costume is a reference to Melee. (I am not serious)

Honestly, I don't see why the latter is so unlikely.
So, none of Fox's costumes come from Assault? Huh. Wouldn't have thought.

Well, the assault COULD be a reference to Melee, but I think it's more likely in Brawl anyway with the costume remake for Fox, now he has those ugly boots, from Assault.

A ton of things can now be counted as "cameos from a game referencing Smash". I GUESS the Fox colors could be a cameo in that sense but doubtful. This would apply better to moves and designs on the general costume. Captain Falcon's emblem on the back of his jacket was used in F-Zero GX.

You know, a list of games influenced by Smash Bros. would be interesting. Kirby games would top that list, especially with KSSU.
