Sorry to double post, but... Blue team Falco a Slippy ref, perhaps? Just perhaps, though. I have a similar idea involving Wolf's white-and-blue outfit being a Panther ref. Both of these are just thoughts, however.

The Wolf thing seems likely, the slippy thing, not so much.

As I said, they're just thoughts. It was more or less this that intrigued me about Slippy. While I was looking for some alternate costumes I stumbled upon an odd tidbit. Though it's not likely due to the color-scheme being WAY off, I read that Fox's white jumpsuit is supposed to be a James McCloud ref. I don't buy it, but it was interesting regardless.

Hi im new to the forums but i found out where the light blue costume for Capt. Falcon comes from. If you look in the stickers its the color scheme of the original drawing for the SNES game if i could post a pic of it i would

Couple thoughts.
Purple Diddy's outfit may be referencing both DKC2's Player 2 with the purple and DKC1's Player 2 with the yellow. Also, Green Diddy may be a reference to Timber from DKR, which would explain the orange fur (Timber's a tiger, of course he's orange) and the green shirt (Timber's vehicles are green.) There's a degree of support in the fact that Timber reappeared in DKRDS.

The green is the exact green of the the plane, so I think it's possible.

The red stars further the possibility.

The red stars further the possibility. I was JUST gonna say that. If Diddy had a blue hat this would be such a solid reference, but nonetheless it's there as far as I'm concerned. Kickass job right there, guys! Did anybody note that the Yellow/White costume may be DK Jr. based? It would be more "clear" if it were all white, but I just wondered if anybody else got that vibe. Also, the blue may be from DKC3's 2P mode or a reference to Kiddy Kong OR, and this may be too bizarre, a reference to our old friend Conker: markpasc.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/conker_disgust.jpg[/img]I sorted through the rest of the DKR cast and can't really find anybody else beyond Timber that resembles the costumes that greatly. Oh well, at least got that one

What leaves me skeptical on that call on Conker is that Rare owns Conker, and Rare's now owned by Microsoft, not Nintendo. Kiddy Kong is an interesting idea, but I'm still more apt to call it at a reference to Diddy's vehicles in DKR.

I don't see the Donkey Kong Jr. at all. The only similar thing I see is that the white hat. Am I missing something?

The black and white Zelda design was a reference to the the show "The Legend of Zelda" very loosely based though but Im sure they added the grey because of the Dark Links. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xc7UZHVB408

Neh, I don't think so. TV dark Zelda got too much black, not enough white, and WAY too much red, plus her hair is the same color as regular Zelda. I don't think so for dark Shiek, either, for the same reason. Good thought, though.

More evidence for the Black suit Zamus -Super Metroid connection.
The Japanese commercial for Super Metroid. Note what Ms. Aran is wearing at the end.
