So, anyone here know where the yellow/black R.O.B. comes from? I'm thinking Diskun. They are both yellow and black. I don't know where the dark-colored R.O.B. comes from but I think it could refer to either N64 or GCN. The colors seem close enough for me. I still think the light/dark purple R.O.B. refers to the SNES. If Sakurai included the US version of R.O.B. (the light/dark gray R.O.B.), why is it so farfetched to believe Sakurai would include the US version of the SNES as one of R.O.B.'s colors? Also, I'd love for R.O.B. to have Virtual Boy and Wii colors in the next game.... a red/black R.O.B. and a white/blue R.O.B. would look so good.

Actually, the U.S. colors seem closer to the SNES than the purple.

Repeating myself, but I find this interesting. In the Melee days, the most recent Pokemon set was GSC. I'm not sure if Crystal had been released yet, but Gold and Silver had. Anyways, Generation 2 had introduced alternate colored, or shiny, Pokemon. Shiny Mew was a light blue, most noticable from the back where there was alot of blue. From the front, she was paler, almost white. Is, then, Blue Team's Mewtwo a shiny Mew reference?
Another thought: Lucario refs Toxicroak with his purple-and-red scheme. Think about it: Toxicroak is a very blued-out violet, as is that Lucario. Toxicroak has a red spot on him, his throat bulge. The chest region of Lucario is also red. The border color on both is black. The chosen colors are very close to each other. Further similarities, both are in the same egg group and share a type, Humanshape and Fighting.

That's just crazy enough to maybe work. I can definitely see that. But it would be hard as hell to verify. For the unfamiliar, here is Toxicroak. Shiny Mew. circa GSC: I can see that one too. that one is pretty likely, looking at it. You know, I might make a post later with all of the alts Fry hasn't updated the OP with yet that are, in all likelyhood, confirmed. No Diskun ROB, in other words.

Hmm.. I might be being picky here but I'd think I'd like to see Oldmanondorf's forehead ball be red like Vatti's for that.

All right, here is the start. MarioAll alts accounted for. Luigi:Orange shirt/hat, light blue dungareesIt has been suggested that this is based on the Fire Mario/Luigi costume from Super Mario bros. 3, which was colored orange. Peach.Red dressIn addition to the Pauline suggestion, Peach had a red dress in Mario Golf. Light Blue DressIn addition to the Daisy suggestion, Peach had a similar dress in Mario Golf. BowserBlack shell/face, dark brown skin, red hairIt has been suggested this costume is based on the classic Hammer Bros. coloration. Brown shell/face, tan skin, yellow hairIt has been suggested this alt is based on Boom-Boom, from SMB3. Donkey KongNo new updates. Diddy Kong Green shirt/hat, orangey furIt has been suggested this alt is based on Timber the Tiger from Diddy Kong Racing. Timber is orange, his vehicles are the same shad of green as Diddy's shit and hat, with red stripes the color of Diddy's Star. YoshiAll alts acounted for. Wario (Biker)Red jacket, black tee, white hat/gloves/trousersLooks like a play on Mario's fire costume. Wario- overallsNo new alts. LinkNo new alts. Zelda/SheikZelda - Green & white dress, brown hairIf you beat the original Zelda without a ring, Zelda's dress will be green. Zelda- Lavender dressIn the original Zelda, if you beat the game with the blue ring, Zelda wears a lavender dress. GanondorfBlack armour, white hair, blue capeIt has been suggested this alt is referencing Minish form Vaati. Toon LinkNo new alts. SamusNo new alts. Zero Suit SamusNo new alts. PitGold robesIt has been suggested that the golden robes are in reference to the Centurions. Ice ClimbersNo new alts. ROBNo new alts, although the green ROB's color scheme should be in green. KirbyNo new alts. Meta KnightNo new alts. King DededeNo new alts. OlimarNo new alts. FoxNo new alts. FalcoNo new alts. WolfWhite & red jacket/armour, white trousersThis is the color scheme of the Wolfen ships. Captain FalconTwo words: Super Falcon. PikachuAll right, I'm reading the Pokemon manga, and some say the goggles come from the character Gold, who has a Pikachu. When I get to him, I'll screenshot him and let you decide. Pokemon TrainerTrainer - Orange & grey, black sleeves, green hat/bagDespite you thinking differently, this is clearly Emerald/ Brendan. also, that Charizard isn't shiny. Charizard - Blue tint, blue wingsThis is closer to Charizard's original Shiny form. Squirtle - Pale tint skin, white shell Ivysaur - Pale tint, white bud Charizard - Pale tint, white wingsThese three mimic their original sprites, for the Game Boy. LucarioPurple, red furIt has been suggested this mimics Toxicroak's coloration. Jigglypuffno new alts. MarthIma quote Leon on this: Here are a few things I'd like to say about Marth's costumes. His default outfit is based on his appearance in Mystery of the Emblem as we all know. His black and gold costume is based off of Camus the Black Knight who appeared in Fire Emblem 1, 2, 3, BS, and DS. i12.photobucket.com/albums/a224/COGrit/5011_Camus_L.jpgThis is his TCG artwork, but his artwork from Fire Emblem The Complete, is much closer to Marth's costume. His red costume also has influence from Camus. except this time it's as Sirius the Masked Knight. Sirius has a red clothes in the same style as Marth, however this can only be seen in his artwork, not his sprite. Sadly, I can offer no high-res artwork for this. Finally, his light blue clothes. These are actually based off of his TCG artwork, not his DS design. The first clue is that his hair colour changes to match that of the TCG art. His clothes also match perfectly. Secondly, it can't be matched off of the DS game because Sakurai hosted an interview with the director of the DS game for Iwata, and states his surprise at seeing Marth's design after working on his Brawl design. TCG art: i12.photobucket.com/albums/a224/COGrit/5001_Marth_L.jpg Ike White clothes, blue cloakIt has been suggested this is Sigurd's coloration. NessNo new alts. LucasPink & purple striped teeIt has been suggested that this shirt is Todd's from Pokemon Snap. Mr. Game & WatchNo new alts. Snake Blue & grey camoSplitter camo from MGS3 and MGSO. Blue & white camoConfirmed to be the AUSCAM camo. Green camoTiger Stripe camo from MGS3. SonicDouble yellow ringsThe golden bracelet's are Silver's. Dr. MarioNo new alts. PichuSee Pikachu's. MewtwoLight blue & blueMew's Shiny Form. RoyNo new alts.

For Snake's alternate costumes, thanks to MGO offering MGS3 camo for your personal characters, I can confirm through comparing them that the blue one that hasn't been identified yet is Splitter, the green camo is Tiger Stripe, though it's just a bit brighter than usual (I also believe it's the same camo that Naked Snake wears in his Brawl Trophy yes?), and the white one is indeed Auscam.

I have a sudden worry about the red-bulb Ivysaur's Trainer. The hat does seem a likely reference to Leaf, but that's ALL I see.

Maybe, but it doesn't account for alot. I'm going to check the full body, hang on.
EDIT: Yeah, shoes are same as well. But that's all I got.

I just assumed it it was "inverse" colors on the Trainer, but the hat would be enough for a "world is gray" kind of guy like me. Who knows. I think it's a good bet, but the shirt throws me off.
