How many years ago was it when he locked himself in his room or something like that in a hissy fit? Man, I'm starting to feel old, I shouldn't feel old at this age. Haha, oh well He didn't actually do that. It was all an act. He may be nuts, but not that kind of nuts. Really? Because I seem to remember him livestreaming it. Unless he paid a double to sit alone in that room for a solid month, he actually did it.

I remember the livestream was changed to a static image at some point which was rather suspicious to me. The constant harping on Nintendo being a criminal syndicate made me think it was all just a big act. But those blogposts on his current site takes all those doubts away, dude's definitely a bit out there. Apparently some people who know him have tried getting him help, but he's brushed them off saying that everyone will bite their tongues when his game comes out. But Jesus. 10 grand? For a finished game? To be fair, rewriting the code to port the game to other systems takes time (and money!) The 10.000 goal's not for the game though. It's to build his own hi-tech solar powered van for him to live and work in. Yeah.

The thing about Nintendo being a criminal syndicate was supposed to be a tie-in to the game's plot. I'm pretty sure he said this when he confirmed the whole thing was an act.
Attempting to code and publish a considerably-sized video game all by yourself takes a certain amount of crazy, but I really doubt he was crazy enough to act like the character in his game.
Was I really the only one who saw through the facade back it was going on?

Was I really the only one who saw through the facade back it was going on? You're the one who was fooled, man. Any asshole can rob a bank and plead insanity. It takes another special kind of crazy to believe them.

If a guy acts like an asshole, then says he was doing in on purpose, does that make him not an asshole?
Either way, he made a whole game focused entirely around his own overinflated sense of self-importance. Regardless of whether or not his actions were genuine.. the game speaks for itself. Guy's the video game industry's Justin Bieber.

Yeah, the issue here isn't about whether what he said and did was an act or not. It's that the game he made is all about nothing but him being the so-called "king of the gaming industry". If that isn't the definition of ego, then what is?

Manspeed's right however that it was supposed to be a tie-in stunt with his game, until people got worried and the cops got involved. From his website: He seems to think people were irritated because he was cheating the system or something though, not because he was being annoying as hell.
Also dude's legit nuts:

Eh, I still don't buy it. He rewrote his entire game to paint Nintendo as evil when they wouldn't hand him a dev kit. He spent months badmouthing them all over the internet and accused them of using Yakuza ties to silence him. Didn't he outright use an image of Miyamoto with evil eyes in his trailer? This is a pitch to Nintendo? Sounds like a kid desperately trying to get attention and then making excuses for his actions later to me.
If he really just faked the protest, all that really tells me is that he lacks the commitment to make it even halfway through faking a protest. Still a crazy asshole, though.

Did he in fact rewrite it or was the game supposed to be like that from the start? I thought the company in the game wasn't actually called "Nintendo" but a thin parody of them.
I also thought the badmouthing and the thing about the Yakuza were all part of the aforementioned marketing stunt.
A very risky, very whacked-out marketing stunt, but what else would you expect from someone who spent 5 years trying to make an entire video game by himself?

Why would he pitch a game about Nintendo stopping him from making a game TO NINTENDO? Why would he have written in Nintendo refusing to give him a dev kit BEFORE asking Nintendo for a dev kit? How are you seriously falling for this?

Well, that wasn't what I asked. Anyway, last time the guy made a Kickstarter he was asking for $6000 to develop Bob's Game for Ouya, didn't get it, and released the game a couple weeks later anyway. So what was the $6000 for? He obviously didn't need it..

Dude was and is a steaming ball of crazy. It's not an act. Might his conniption fit after Nintendo didn't give him a dev kit have been an act? Sure. That is entirely possible. But it doesn't change the fact that dude is fuckin' warped.

I'm starting to think Robert Manspeed may know Robert Pelloni in real life and his defending him is another stunt.

Forget these marketing stunts. Let's look at, oh I donno, the game itself?
After all, it is about himself (or at least a crude depiction of himself) trying to become the "god of game developers". Why isn't that telling you anything?
