Yeah, we all agree that cranky is DK and DKC is related to Cranky.

I'm assuming DKC refers to the current DK. I find "Super DK" a useful term to distinguish him from Arcade DK.

Wouldn't that be DK gone bananas from DK King of swing?
I could just call him DK and the arcade one is ODK or ADK.

Well, Super Donkey Kong is the Japanese name for the DKC series. So it seems fitting.

To me it seems like DK in a cape with heat vision and other powers. His ancestor, Cranky kong, didn't have that, so why should he?

....because he doesn't? I've been trying spread the Super DK method myself, Masa and it just doesn't stick. Either way, there shouldn't be a debate on this subject because there's nothing wrong with Super DK being the descendant of Cranky who was formerly Classic DK. I still can't figure out for the life of me why people have a problem with this outside of being a retrof ag.

Probably because it clashes with the Mario series on numerous occasions.

In my case it's because that figure of an old ape and a young ape was always symbolic to me (old ape:young ape::games of old:this outstanding new game that will beat the competition).
Whether the modern DK is the old Donkey Kong Jr. shouldn't be cared of too much, IMO, unless Mario returned as a villain in a game with both Cranky Kong and DK as protagonists or vice-versa. That would truly make their dual selves have a meaning in their story. It may happen someday; I don't think this is over yet.

Probably because it clashes with the Mario series on numerous occasions. I don't see how that affects this. Snake's codec for DK is that "The DK who fought the epic battle with mario was this guys grand-father!"

Snake's codec for DK is that "The DK who fought the epic battle with mario was this guys grand-father!" That is easily explained as either a mistake or a typo (grand father as opposed to grandfather). Besides, nothing in Brawl is considered canon anyway...not to mention that Brawl is littered with inaccuracies anyway (K.Rool's trophy being one of them). ;D

The official line has repeatedly stated that Cranky is Super DK's grandfather, and the original Arcade DK. This line has been arsed around with a bit with Rare seemingly forgetting who they were, but the official line has snapped back into the original DKC storyline. And it's repeated soooo many times, if there's any debate on this fact then it's from Rarefags (e.g. DKU).

The 'grand father' thing makes little sense to me anyways. If the argument is going to be made that DJ Jr. is Super DK, then it's far easier (and likely) to just say that DK Jr. was retconned to be Arcade DK's grandson.

Which is a much more significant retcon than one might think - one Nintendo's highly unlikely to go for (and has never suggested it will) - and a big, hairy reason I'm happier thinking that there is no direct relation between Super DK and DK Jr. And if it's not in a game and not in a manual... it's fanfiction

Well, I always take a difference stance on what my personal opinion is (i.e. fanfiction) and what the facts are. That's why, on the Gamehiker Wiki, the Donkey Kong article covers everything from Baby DK to Arcade DK to Super DK, the Cranky Kong article alludes to his Arcade DK background, and the DK Jr. article only suggests that he may have become Super DK.
But as far as my personal take on it? I think Super DK and DK Jr. are one and the same. I also think Baby DK is Super DK and not Arcade DK/Cranky Kong. But I also hold the opinion that the current Yoshi is not the one from Yoshi's Island either.
