Nah, he's not in there...
Anybody a DK fan? I mean, the DK games on the NES are the classics - then Rare took it all Country style on the SNES... But with Diddy Kong Racing on the N64, do we consider Banjo & Conker to be off-shoots of this franchise?
I dunno, do we?

Well, I was a fan of the old arcade DK games, and the newer NST/Namco DK games. However, I didn't like any of the Rare DK games... or really any Rare games at all for that matter.

But with Diddy Kong Racing on the N64, do we consider Banjo & Conker to be off-shoots of this franchise? No. If anything they're premature cameo appearances. The franchises don't cross over in any way... The job hunt isn't going anywhere at the moment.

Sorry to hear about the job hunt...
And yes, I agree with you on the cameo thing... I'm not a huge DK fan anyway, but I was wondering.

I loved the DK Country games, or at least the ones on the SNES (well... actually I hate enough of DKC2 to spoil the game, but most of it is good). I have a love-hate relationship with Donkey Kong 64 as well.
But no, over at Donkey Kong Universe they consider nearly all Rare games to be "true" Donkey Kong games, and they even cover Grabbed by the Ghoulies! Funnily enough, they don't consider the original DK arcade games (or NES/GB/G&W/etc.) games to be true DK games. They're a funny old bunch.

How can they exclude the classic arcade games??? DK, DKJr., & DK3 are THE Donkey Kong games... where its Mario vs. DK (like the GBA game and GB game)! The DKC games are a diversion, or a spin-off if you will - and while they are good games, to then consider ALL Rare platformers as part of that series seems a bit odd... doesn't it??? I mean, Banjo and Kazooie, and Conker hardly have anything to do with the gorilla and his barrel throwing mishaps and stuff... It's insanity!

Yes, it is insane... but then get into a fight with them over whether Cranky is DK's father or grandfather and you will see just how insane they are... as David Dayton at TMK found out a short time ago
