More Frank West action - Capcom’s Seth Killian talks about Frank West’s TvC inclusion here. You’ll also get to see more of Frank’s moves and one of his alt colors in the process. And yet another clip of Frank in TvC is here. However, I don't know if we're going to get any more reveals this weekend, but here's a quote Gamepro pulled from Niitsuma regarding the rest of the new characters: Well, Zero, Joe and Yatterman-2 are all fairly retro...so we'll have to see if they are indeed the remainder of the line-up or not.

Frank West? Seriously?

Yes, seriously. I was surprised, too, but it looks like Capcom's put in a lot of thought for his moveset. He looks like he'll be FUN. Now all they need to do is improve his model a bit, and he'll be all set to go.

Yeah, it does, but I honestly would have preferred Ammy or Tron Bonne or something. I didn't really like Dead Rising.

ESRB rating time. I'm only posting this because I felt one part of it was amusing...let's see if you can guess what it was. It also confirms the final character count as 26, so three more characters are left for Capcom to reveal.

I love how they listed examples of things Capcom has made, and didn't even bother with Tatsunoko. XD

The way the roster splits, Capcom's got one more rep to unveil, and Tatsunoko has 2. Personally, I'd love to see Ammy sneak in, but I have a hunch that we'll be seeing MM Zero (per that site leak). We'll just have to see, though.

Shit, I didn't expect two at a time. XD Well, leak completely confirmed! Yatterman-2 will be the last character (despite IGN [AND EVEN CAPCOM THEMSELVES MY GOD] claiming they've unveiled them all... 25 does not translate to equal rosters, and we knew this information already). Nice to see it's old-school Zero who made the leap - I like MM Zero's design, but I think the MMX one is cooler. Edit - To prove my point, we know there's 26 fighters. We know Yatterman 2 was on the list of the leaked roster. Why is everyone claiming the roster's done? Niitsuma said the roster would be even. Let's see as of right now if it is: Capcom - Ryu, Chun-Li, Alex (Street Fighter), Mega Man Volnutt, Roll, Zero (Mega Man), Morrigan (Darkstalkers), Batsu (Rival Schools), Viewtiful Joe, Soki (Onimusha), Saki ("something" Quiz Dreams), Frank West (Dead Rising), PTX-40a (Lost Planet), for a total of 13. Tatsunoko - Ken, Jun, Joe (Gatchaman), Yatterman 1, Doronjo (Yatterman), Tekkaman, Tekkaman Blade (Tekkaman), Hurricane Polymar, Casshern, Karas, Ippatsuman, Gold Lightan for a total of 12. Hm. That's 25, it's not even, and we KNOW ABOUT YATTERMAN 2. Good god. It's not final! [/end rant]

The MMX series looks of X and Zero kind of make me compare them to the looks of the DragonBall / DBZ / DBGT characters.
Anyway, MMX Zero's look in TvC is based on his looks from MMX2 to so on, except for remakes of MMX1 (e.g. Mega Man Xtreme 1, MMX Maverick Hunter). Why? His shoulders were round in MMX1, while his MMX2 look is sort of hollow cube-shaped. Kind of like comparing Diddy Kong's DKC series look to his slightly altered look seen in DK: King of Swing and SSBB looks.

Personally, from an artfag's perspective, I always liked the MMZ design for Zero because of how androgynous it was, and I could appreciate the vast departure in overall style from the MMX games while maintaining the fact that, yes, this is still Zero we're talking about. You know? But at the same time, Zero is still Zero and I'm not bothered by the fact that they chose his X2-X8 design. If I really want to see MMZ's Zero...well, that's why I bought the official series artbook. ;D
Still! A buddy of mine and I were talking about how Zero has never been used in a Capcom vs. fighting game, so it's pretty bitchin' to see that he's finally getting his shot. It's also great that they're covering three separate Megaman series with each character - Classic, Legends and X. Awesome stuff.
(Though I still would have liked Franziska von Karma or Ammy. XD What can you do.)

Aye, it is great to see Zero appear in a (proper) Capcom fighter. Hell, SNK knew what potential he had when they threw the MMZ version into SNK Vs. Capcom Chaos a few years back. We'll see how Capcom strike their own path with Zero (which is one reason I think he's MMX Zero and not MMZ Zero).
As for Ammy and Franny (hey, a rhyme!), this is Capcom we're dealing with here - a sequel is pretty much guaranteed if it does well. Maybe there they'll get their chance. Phoenix and Franny were considered for TvC, and maybe the dev team will have figured out how to make one of them work by then.

Box art time! My thoughts from my blog post about the subject: Certainly one of Capcom’s finer fighter box arts. How nice of Shinriko to do a new piece with the new characters! You’ll notice that Yatterman-2 is not on the box, though. So, as I mentioned before, either Capcom’s dropped her or they’re being ultra secretive about her appearance. If you bought SF20, you’ll notice that H. Daimao is absent from the JP TvC Wii art for copyright reasons, so it’s conceivable that Yatterman-2 could merely be a hidden layer, and could very well pop up later. We’ll just have to see. As of now, the roster’s still not even, Capcom! XD

Woo, that's a pretty box art! I'm psyched that they made an entirely new cover rather than just taking the original Japanese art and erasing the Blacklips Genie.
I've still got my fingers crossed for that 26th character!

Aye, considering Capcom's shaky past (see the bottom of this page) of doing lame fighter box arts (never thought I'd be linking to my old site again...), this becomes even more gorgeous. I need to start doing these on the blog...
