Roll isn't weak in this game, though. She can be pretty dangerous.

Roll's powered-up bucket o' water move (whatever it's called) is amazing against the final boss!
I suppose Doronjo is kind of like a joke character for the Tatsunoko side. A lot of her special moves rely on her goofy assistants. She's also the only villain character included on roster (for either side).
I believe Ryota Niitsuma said they wanted to include the Samurai Pizza Cats, but Tatsunoko denied them permission.

It appears that online rankings and stats are being reset today. It's unknown if this is just an April Fool's joke or not, but there has been a problem with skewed stats due to people deliberately disconnecting when they're about to lose a match. I recall Capcom once saying that disconnectors would be dealt with by having them paired up with other disconnectors (a taste of their own medicine kind of thing), but perhaps that hasn't worked out? Anyway, hopefully this will lead to a better online environment with TvC. It's why I prefer to stick with friend matches.

It's hard to say. I wonder if Capcom will mention anything about this.

Here's a quick update -- or non-update -- on the reset battle rankings. According to Christian Svennson over at Capcom-Unity: "I haven't heard of a reset happening but we'll check into it." So, I guess it's not an April Fool's joke, but possibly a technical problem.

According to Capcom's Seth Killian, Tatsunoko vs Capcom did exceed initial sales expectations: [Tatsunoko Vs Capcom] certainly beat the initial expectations. It didn't set any land speed records, but it was a success. And that's really saying something considering that we're talking about a game that was not only never coming out, but has a title that most people can't even pronounce. Good news. Now, will there be a TvC2, or does Marvel vs Capcom 3 mean the end of the Tatsunoko crossover?

Capcom now has an official response to the reset battle rankings from a month ago. They have not yet figured out how to fix it, but they released a statement (in Japanese). Here is Seth Killian's translation from Capcom-Unity: Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars Data Glitch (Update)
There was a data glitch that was discovered on April 2nd, and after a thorough investigation we have confirmed that the following data may be reset through participation in a network battle.
・ Number of Wins (Total, Monthly, Weekly)
・ Number of Draws (Total, Monthly, Weekly)
・ Number of Losses (Total, Monthly, Weekly)
・ Number of Matches (Total, Monthly, Weekly)
・ Battle Points (Total, Monthly, Weekly)
・ Stats
We regret to inform you that, as the issue has yet to be resolved, participation in a network battle on or after May 1st may cause this glitch to occur, resetting the above data. Players who have not yet experienced this glitch are also at risk to have their data reset.
※Data not included in the list above, as well battles themselves, will not be affected by the glitch.
We would like to deeply apologize for the inconvenience this has caused to the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom community, as well as for our delayed response to the matter.
We will continue to search for the cause of the problem, as well as a solution to it. We would greatly appreciate your continued patience and support as we search for an adequate solution. I guess this doesn't really affect me personally since I don't play against random people online, and I can't get anyone here to play with me.

Wonderful news! There were a lot of people at Capcom-Unity who were convinced that Capcom had given up on it simply because it was a Wii game. Great to know that wasn't the case.
On a another note, I started playing this game again a couple weeks ago, and I noticed a couple of cool little details. You guys may know these already, but I thought I'd post them here and see if anyone can point out any others.
- If you pick G. Lightan in either his second or fourth colors (the silver colors), it changes his name to S. Lightan.
- Joe the Condor's level 3 super is always assisted by Ken the Eagle unless you chose Jun the Swan as his partner, and then it's she who appears during the cutscene.
I love little details like this. It really shows that the game was a labor of love.

I need to play this again sometime soon. It's been a while. I actually didn't notice the first one, but I had the second.
But yeah, they really did put in a lot of little things that made the game seem extra special.

This was definitely a great game, and it's a shame the mentality was to give Wii the "less mature" game over Marvel vs. Capcom. Pretty sure there's an interview for MvC3 out there where Capcom says they were saving the Marvel characters for a more mature system and audience, which I find absolutely silly. A character like Karas is just as violent as Deadpool, while Marvel DOES have its share of goofy and obnoxious characters too (Shuma comes to mind). But whatever... typical developer arguments, I guess.
That all said, I'd love to see a sequel to this game, hopefully trying a bit harder to include the Pizza Cats, Speed Racer, and some of the other more notable and obscure characters out there. I am at least glad it was a chance for Capcom to reuse characters they hardly ever anymore, though. They definitely show a lot of love for their games and characters, even the less popular ones. That's something companies like Nintendo should definitely take a lesson from.

I think it's called "less mature" not because of the characters, but because the fighting style is less articulate combos and more arcadey button-mashing.
When I play Street Fighter, I look up character combos because they're so freaking confusing. (Seriously? Hold forward for 3 seconds, then press back, LP, HP, quarter circle....GAH!)
But I'm addicted to TvC. I just love arcade fighters...

I feel proud to have this game myself too. Its either 6th or the 7th Capcom 'VS' game I played (I played Marvel VS 1 and 2 and some of the SNK VS Capcom games too, and I also played Namco X Capcom which I played through ROMs) On the Capcom side I like to play as my favs. Chun-Li,Morrigan and Ryu. And then sometimes as Roll,Saki and Joe too.
On the Tatsunoko side, it is as Doronjo,Jun,Yatterman-1 and 2.
Personally the only downs of this game for me are the US/UK OP and the removel of the anime endings (fuck those beyond boring UDON artworks endings). And I also honestly wish they had keep Phoenix and Franziska in,that whole excuse they made up is just dog crap(and think about it, had they keep Phoenix and Fran in, those anime endings would have been the closest official things we had to an Ace Attorney anime). I also wish they could have put in one or two more playable Rival Schools characters, if I could I would choose two of my RS favs, Akira and Kyoko.

But whatever... typical developer arguments, I guess. Don't forget that TvC was originally released in Japan more than a year before it was released internationally. That's likely even before Capcom reacquired the Marvel license (MvC2 wasn't even released on XBLA and PSN until seven months later), so the decision to put Tatsunoko on the Wii had nothing to do with saving Marvel for other platforms. However, you may be thinking of an interview Ryota Niitsuma did in which he mentioned holding back ideas (and Capcom characters) from the international release of TvC for use in MvC3. That didn't make Wii fans too happy.
