Oh indeed. For a game built from the ground-up to take advantage of the interface, I completely agree it would work. But a point and click remake of GCN Chibi-Robo makes about as much sense as a point and click Super Mario Sunshine

Heheh, yeah, I agree. It can't be done... Well it can't be done and work right.

Fry you reminded me of something:
I'd like to see Mario in a point-and-click adventure that isn't educational. Maybe Luigi could take the reigns for that one, it's seems like more of his speed.

That's what I like about the Wii Remote. There's so many possibilities for using it. Unfortunately I haven't seen much for crazy unique ways of play, only a couple here and there.

They have reversible covers so you can have the boxart being the regular original version.

They've got different kinds of boxart for these Play on the Wii versions?
And when are these going to be released anyway?

And when are these going to be released anyway? According to this, Pikmin will be released on the 6th Feb this year in europe, ( with Mario Power Tennis a month later) so I guess you won't have to wait long.

February for Pikmin for Americans too, I believe. It's on a list somewhere.

What about Jungle Beat? That's the only one I'm interested in.

February for Pikmin for Americans too, I believe. March actually. Same with Mario Power Tennis. Jungle Beat hasn't been announced for America yet.

TRAILER FOR MP1 PLAY ON WII! Go here now!Notes: - Opening from MP1 is still there and is still awesome, CONFIMRED!- Looks like MP1, not much of a surprise there, though I think it's widescreen. - Visor/beam swapping is handled the same way you swapped visors in MP3, and that worked quite well. It has also changed the HUD because of this, now with less visor/beam icons on screen. EDIT: Another two commericials! - The second one as confirms (around 0:22) that flicking the Wii Remote up will cause Samus in Morph Ball form to jump (like MP3).

On the official Japanese site here, gives you more details about the controls. EDIT: Here's something interesting. It appears that on the metroid.jp site these a little note at the bottom saying that the Space Pirates will be starring in their own story. E-comic perhaps?

I'd prefer if it was, like, a bonus gameplay thing...because that would be truly awesome; unfortunately it's just not going to happen. One thing that bothers me about this whole Play For Wii concept is that, at the end of the day, each game is the same thing as it's GameCube counterpart. So far, the only one of the Play For Wii titles that catches my interest is Metroid Prime, but I don't know if it's even worth investing in; I've already got the original, so why sink fifty dollars into what is, essentially, a port with ribbons superglued on?
I don't know. I'm not boycotting these and I don't really expect to make a point here, but I honestly don't see the point of the concept. We already known that Waggle Control is a sketchy thing at best, even with Nintendo at the helm; we know how Metroid Prime 3 handled, so PFW MP1 is a sure thing. But how do we know what the other games will be like? How do we know Pikmin or Jungle Beat or, I dunno, Mario Sunshine or Eternal Darkness would stack up? And if Mario Power Tennis handles anything like Wii Sports Tennis or Sega Superstars Tennis (I.E. poorly at best), we're looking at a huge disappointment. There's too many risks, to many gray areas, and far too much hype. I can't shake the feeling that investing in most if not all of these games (again, Metroid Prime excluded) will disappoint. Although to be fair, because Twilight Princess worked pretty well, a Play For Wii incarnation of Wind Waker would likewise work out well.
I don't think exclusive ports with no new content and a potentially game-wrecking new control scheme justifies the cost. Not to mention it seems (to me) like a shallow ploy to fill the games-for-gamers void Nintendo has dropped themselves into. I'd honestly prefer new games instead of games I'd already bought.
But I think I'm alone on that one. *shrug*

I agree with you, TEi. I liked the GC scheme for Prime more than the Wii scheme for Corruption, personally. And I have owned most of these releases before (Jungle Beat is the only exception I remember), so I have no plans to buy these again. The only game I've done this repurchase for was RE4, and that was worth it to me because they brought the PS2 exclusives to the GC level of graphics quality, and the new scheme worked out well for it. *shrugs*

Its pretty damn clear these games aren't for us though. We are part of the 7 people (possibly overshooting the GC userbase here) that had a Cube. We bought all these games. The games are for the eleventy billion people that have a Wii but didn't have the predecessor. The people that won't go "why would I buy Mario Power Tennis again when I have the Cube version?" and instead say "OMG A NEW (well, one I haven't played anyway) MARIO TENNIS FOR $50!"
Its not like the 5 minutes (possibly overshooting Play on Wii development time here) is likely to be affecting the development of real Wii games. I don't see the problem.
