I do kind of agree that throwing 'fuck fuck fuckity fuck' into a game doesn't make it 'mature'... but with the old school b-movie style they are going for with HOTD I think it fits perfectly and I have no issues with it.
Fuckers.

I really don't like how people see homosexuality as "omg NSFW" or something to that effect. It just is what it is, nothing more.

Because it'sa sin against religion, and they want to shield kids from sins. Kinda like how it was illegal to teach about evolution in the south at one point.

What's wrong with saying "fuck"? Saying it once or twice through the course of the game is fine. Constantly saying it throughout however, is a big turn off for me. And before anyone asks, I do own a game with swearing in -Conker's Dad Fur Day.

It's common in anything in general, really. Saying it every once in a while is fine, but planting it way too much in just one sentence is pushing it.

Getting back on topic, I would figure that The Conduit would be a better indicator of how well a third-party core game would do, rather than Light Gun games, because Wii pretty much got that in the bag. As for stuff like Madworld, No More Heroes, and Boom Blox, they are obvious niche game, the mere fact they seem to be doing better on the Wii than on the PS2 is a testament on how varied the Wii Audience actually is.

I would agree that The Conduit might have a wider appeal because it's not some highly stylized or experimental game. It's just a technically proficient FPS. I don't understand your last statement, tho, as MadWorld, No More Heroes and Boom Blox were not released on the PS2. I also wouldn't call Boom Blox a niche game, as it's exactly that kind of family-friendly party game that seems to dominate on the system. (And even then, it was still a slow burner.)

Here is part of an interview with Sega's Sean Ratcliffe, in which he states that The House of the Dead: Overkill "has done very well and has absolutely met our expectations" Those must've been some pretty low expectations, unless Overkill's sales managed to pick up a lot in the last month. Either that, or he's spinning positive, as PR guys are prone to do. Not to be too cynical, tho. I'm glad that Sega's official line is that they're satisfied with Overkill's performance. As for MadWorld, he says, "the first set of data for Mad World is very encouraging, as well." He goes on to say that, given the opportunity, they would like MadWorld to be a continuing franchise.

I know Nester usually reports on the 3rd party sales data here but some freaky info has come up in the past few days. There is a RUMOR, that MadWorld has only sold 70,000 copies since the game was released. While NPD data has stated that GTA:CW has only sold 89,000 units in March, a few sources a saying that this is bad but supposedly it's selling at a faster rate than GTA:LCS did on the PSP and CW only got released halfway during March. While other sources have said that the pirated ROM of the game that was out before the game released may have affected it as well. While on WiiWare, the developer Steel Penny (creators of WiiWare title Bruiser and Scratch) a game that had poor sales and reviews, did not anticpate that WiiWare was going to consist of manly hardcore users and that there wasn't going to be oversaturation of puzzle games on the WiiWare. In their own words. "The typical Wii user doesn’t have any idea that the Wii can connect to the internet. The crowd that gravitates toward WiiWare is actually fairly hardcore, and a very small segment overall. In essence, we’re trying to sell lemonade in a biker bar." Here's an IGN article talking about where they went wrong.
