Okay, so let's say your friend is in another room, now, would you call your friend just to say, "Hey! I'm in the other room, what's up?!" No. I'd go into the other room and say "Hey, what's up?" Gah! I hate this fucking conversation, but for the sake of completion I'll just throw out possible locations. SCHOOL COLLEGE WORK BLAH BLAH BLAH

The following post is being...ahem...posted for the exact same reason.
Ironically, those are the exact places you AREN'T supposed to use your phone.

The thing about texting is that no one does it for a good reason. They do it for the sake of texting not to communicate.
General conversations include: WHADDUP WHERE YOU AT? THIS GUY IS HOT!
Texting is a fad, a game. There's nothing practical about it.

I love your choice in messages, because that's how people text: Zero grammar.

I'm out. This is just too "non-conformist" for my taste.

I don't like texting because it's a pain in the ass...that's about it, really. Nothing to get my panties in a twist over.

You know that Final Fantasy 7 movie? I forget what it's called but it had those three Happy Valley escapees who fused into Sephiroth. That movie was lame.

I don't think it's that so much as Shrikeswind being antagonizing.

Only about text messaging, and even then I was being honest. The rest was legit.

True, and you'll notice I was all friendly at first, but the fact that he kept going on about something as trivial as texting... Also, he was being a total douche.

Texting is a fad, a game. There's nothing practical about it. Ok heres another scenario. Your in the middle of a widespread blackout from a hurricane. Getting a cellphone call though is next to impossible. Texting, though taking several minutes, still works.

Shrike, your treating texting as a way to have an actual conversation, which I agree is pointless, but it's also pointless to call someone just to say things like "New South Park is on." or "I just bought Mario Galaxy!"
You don't have to dis an entire group of people because of what they like to do.

You don't think texting has any purpose? What the fuck? I know some people go a bit mad with their texting but it really is quite a useful tool. Quick and easy.
For instance if you're on a packed noisy train and need to let someone know that you're running late. Or communicating with someone you just don't want to chat to.

Everytime I disagree on something in this thread, I don't feel welcomed because the point of posting those opinions is that nobody (or almost nobody) else does agree on them, and it's likely that you're going to be one of the people that don't agree on them. This is like... wanting to preserve a sample of an unwanted virus or bacteria just because of the fascination that it exists. Its nature makes it a social experiment.
