I have every bit of faith in the game. I like the presentation of the game so far, and I'm happy to see Metroid getting that kind of treatment. Seeing Nintendo take this kind of thematic approach with any of their games is pretty exciting quite frankly.

They corrected the article. What they meant was that it was going to be a 2-1/2D, where any movement into the 3D background is scripted. Team Ninja came in and showed that 3D movement with a NES-style control scheme was possible.
It doesn't look like they meant it was going to be House of the Metroid or anything...

I'm probably alone in this, but an on rails Metroid game would be kinda cool.

But then again, the presentation is impressive.

Something occurred to me about Fusion. We never found out how the Federation got Ridley's corpse. Maybe this game will answer that fridge logic.

Or how they managed to hold onto Metroid DNA, if Samus had killed all but one in Metroid II, and the only surviving one died at the end of Super Metroid. Or how, if Samus killed every Metroid on SR388, whatever happened to the Tallon Metroids? Who killed those Metroids? Or are they still alive? I don't think the same goes for the Phazon Metroids, as all things Phazon were wiped from the universe (or at least they said something like that) when Phaaze exploded. Anyway, Metroid is always full of questions. I guess that's another reason why Metroid owns

Well, I have only good impressions about Other M's gameplay, though I'm not sure I see a point to switching between first and third person perspective.
Also, why'd they give Samus a beauty mark. D: Beauty marks are ugly.

Interestingly, Sakamoto already said in the 1994 Super Metroid interview that only he knows "where Samus's beauty mark is." And now it's there. They even had Samus being naked for a second during SM's development, but changed it because "this sort of thing is terrible in America." ;D

Other M has officially been delayed in North America until August 31. Also, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor has been pushed back to Other M's old release date, June 27. Perhaps this is good news for S&P. It was gonna get overshadowed by Other M. And I was planning to get S&P first anyway, so I guess I'll still be playing it June.

I doubt they'll advertise at all for S&P. Metroid however will get tons of promotion.

Sorry for double posting but a brand new developer video feature has come up, its in japanese but it shows new footage, behind-the-scenes looks, and more. Someone, please translate this!>< Seems like Other M is getting the Orchestrated music treatment, neat. Also,(first video) 2:19 to 2:24. Detective Club!^^ (Second video) Can't stop drooling at 1:59 to 2:13 By the way, if anyone wonder who Samus Japanese voice actress(first video, 8:33 to 8:42) is, I just copy-and-paste this bit straight from Metroid Database. " Ai Kobayashi. She was the lead voice actress for Deunan Knute in the Appleseed film and has appeared in various other anime such as Kino's Journey, Detective Conan. Metroid: Other M is her videogame premier." EDIT: The details are now translated. - due to the limited controls on the Wiimote, the available controls have to adapt to the environment. - depending on the enemy, different finishing moves are possible. - goal was to make movement from cinematics to gameplay seamless. - Bombing walls to discover items in the 2D Metroid is likened to investigating the enviroments in the first-person view in Metroid: Other M. - Because Samus is not "very good at living like a normal human being", a voice actress was chosen that could speak in an unsophisticated, direct manner, rather than someone with very good technique. - shooting animation (Samus raising her hand to shoot) is very quick in order to replicate the feeling of the older games. - D-Rockets wanted to have more Zero Suit Samus appearances. - Samus' armor is not good for displaying human emotions, as it covers Samus up. - Sakamoto was adamant that Samus would not take of her armor unless it really suited the story and the situation. - goal was to portray a strong, cool Samus, who has powers that other humans don't. gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=129564And now its officially confirmed, Other M will hit Europe at 3rd September.wii.nintendolife.com/news/2010/07/metroid_other_m_launches_across_europe_on_3rd_september_2010And here is the possible Japanese Metroid: Other M boxart. www.nintendoeverything.com/44437/From the looks of it, (in Metroid Database's words) It's likely that this image is a slipcover with a translucent piece of plastic for the visor, in which you can remove and see the unsuited Samus underneath.
