They still have gotten worse in their dubbing over the years.

Generally dubs are pretty OK so long as they aren't done by the late 4kids. The late 4kids? 4kids are still going strong, and rolling in money. There are still 13 4kids shows currently in production, not to mention the money they're raking in from Sonic, Yu-Gi-Oh! and TMNT merchandise. Unfortunately, they're not going anywhere. Seems like he meant "4Kids as of late". They used to be half decent.

Dubs can be fine. It's a swing and a miss for Nintendo when they hire people off the street or from their offices. Radiant Dawn had like two good voices that clashed with the bad.
Punch-Out!! has a good dub, and Metroid seems to as well.
Dubs have been getting much better over the years for everything, really. Taken seriously and whatnot.

That might be because it was made in America, assuming you're talking about the new Punch-Out!!.

On the subject of dubbed games (and anime), I live in America, which is predominantly an English-speaking language...so I prefer to give the English dubs a chance before dismissing them outright due to some preconceived notion that all foreign-language acting is better just because it is foreign ( it's not). Now, yeah, there are a lot of clunkers when it comes to voice acting because, up until recently, cartoons and video games weren't considered a viable form of media - just stuff for kids and geeks, nothing that required serious effort. Sure, that sort of stuff is still out there, but there's been a significant change as fans of games and cartoons from previous eras have grown older and started working on the things they loved as kids (I.E., cartoons and video games).

I generally seek out subs rather than dubs, but acting has nothing to do with it. It's more down to the fact that anything translated from one language to another usually loses a lot of things from the original script. Sometimes it gains better things, but I still like to see what the original intention was.

Although I heard Fawful was completely different in Japan. I wonder if they tried doing a similar style of humor with Fawful would he still be just as popular around here?

I like dubs in general, just because sometimes I'm distracted and don't have to want to be looking at the screen while the characters have a conversation I don't have to -see- to understand. I'm not terribly fond of subtitles in movies where characters speak other languages for that reason, especially if it's a group of characters just talking about something and not doing something.

Here's a funny little coincidence. According to GoNintendo, back in 1997, Game Informer published an April Fool's joke that has turned out to be amusingly prophetic.

I think the fact this game exists is enough info for a while. If we don't have info by GDC get worried. But that's me.
Reggie just said it's gonna be out next year so.

5 months and this game's info is still in its beauty sleep... They had to announce it early. They had to make the last E3 not suck so bad, even if it meant leaving nothing for them to announce in 2010.

5 months and this game's info is still in its beauty sleep... Have you not noticed that Nintendo does this with everything now?

They did it with Brawl. How long did we go between the movie where they showed off Fox and any pertinent information to follow? Ages, if I recall.
